Wedding Woes

Not excited anymore.. Just ridiculously nervous?

So we have been engaged for a really long time, and I have been extremely excited about my wedding up until now. Now that we are so close (20 days) I'm not excited at all anymore, I'm actually dreading the big day. I am so nervous!! Is this normal? I want to be married to my FIl of course, but want to skip the wedding we have worked so hard on all together! What did some of you do to calm this feeling?

Re: Not excited anymore.. Just ridiculously nervous?

  • I don't like being in front of people at all, so I was WILDLY nervous. I took a bunch of Xanax that day.

  • NONONO, skip the Xanax!!! Nerves are just another form of excitement.  Think of your beautiful dress and the man you love (wrong order, sorry) and you will be great!

Yeah, no, I started having a panic attack and almost passed out. It's cute that you consider nervousness a form of excitement, but perhaps you've never experienced tunnel vision and chest pain from this 'excitement'.

Ditto on this. Everyone reacts differently in different situations. Listen to your body. You know it better than anyone else. Yeah if I feel like I'm having a heart attack, I'm not going to be ignoring it haha. When I get an adrenaline rush I cry....my FI he laughs. So everyone is different. One person's extreme could be someone's normal.

  • Yeah, I was so nervous when FI proposed, that I became physically ill. It has nothing to do with him or my love for him. It was because my xanax was 6k miles away, and being nervous makes me more nervous. If you are at all like that, the least you should do is have it on hand.
  • I mean I don't think I will need medication, I just don't want to be so nervous for the next 2 1/2 weeks because I'm just not being myself! It's almost here though so I will just deal with nerves!
  • If you don't want a script but want some mental calmness, pick up some l-theanine at Whole Foods.

  • @theducheldea-yup, I agree, stick with the natural cures, but maybe try it out prior to the wedding to see if there will be any unforeseen reactions. Also, you are right, I am fortunate to never have had that strong of a reaction to stress where I felt like I was having a heart attack.  I only get that bad at the dentist, but found an over the counter product called Nerve Tonic that I buy at my local chain drug store.
@futuremalyuta-Here's your mantra - I am marrying a good man, I am with the man of my dreams, it will all be fine, I am a beautiful bride.  10X every hour or so!
