    1. Do you want children? If so, how many?
    - Yes, we want 3 kids.

    2. Do you have a perfect ratio in mind of boy to girl?
    -1 boy and 2 girls

    3. Have you and your SO decided on any names together?
    - Yep, we have all three names picked out, even though we don't plan on having kids for at least another 5-6 years haha

    4. Do you have any guilty pleasure names?
-I really love the name Eloise, but the BF isn't about it at all

    5. Do you and your SO have any disagreements about children?
    - We disagree minorly on how they need to be before they can date and that sort of thing, but nothing major.

    6. Do you have any idea how you would want to give birth (aka natural or give-me-the-drugs)?
    - Ideally I would really like to have an unmedicated birth, maybe a water birth, with a doula and/or midwife.

    7. Who would be in the birthing room with you when you gave birth?
    - Just the BF and probably my cousin Mani (she's more like a sister) who had an unmedicated birth with a doula.

    8. Any interesting birth stories from your family?
-I think my birth story is interesting, kind of lol. My mom was a week overdue so she went to the doctor and he told them that he was going to call the hospital and see if they could get her in for an induction that coming Monday. Well, they called the next day (Friday) and said they were booked on Monday but they had an opening that day and asked my parents "so, do you want to come in and have your baby today?" Of course they said yes and then ended up having a C-section because of complications
Even this post makes me think you're a little BSC.
Having an actual answer to the "perfect ratio" question and having exact names for your kids when you're not engaged and don't even plan to have kids for over half a decade! And just even using the word "unmedicated." Ugh. HTT MUCH?

I found this to be really odd too. My thesis has to do with natural birth, I have read at least 50 to 70 published research articles as well as like 20 something books on this topic and have literally never once heard the term "unmedicated birth". Why exactly did you choose to use that word?

I used that word because that is how my cousin, who had a baby in July, referred to natural birth and it is also how my infant development professor referred to natural birth.

I really don't think it's strange. I am a teacher at a daycare center working primarily with infants and I have been for nearly 4 years. I've grown up around babies and have known I want 1 boy and 2 girls since I was about 15. I'm around babies nearly 24 hours a day (my roommates also have an 8 week old son) so there are often times I think about having kids. I'm sure the names will change once we actually get pregnant but names are just fun to come up with

The bolded was the part that got me. How old they need to be before they can date?? FFS.

    Daisypath Anniversary tickers

  • 1. Do you want children? If so, how many?
Not sure. I had a bad childhood and it has clouded my thoughts on having children or not.

    2. Do you have a perfect ratio in mind of boy to girl?
No thoughts on that at all. not sure i would even make it past 1.

    3. Have you and your SO decided on any names together?
    Elizabeth. Jason.

    4. Do you have any guilty pleasure names?
I do - Jake lol I love that name but Twilight has made me steer clear of it.

    5. Do you and your SO have any disagreements about children?
Yes we do. How we would reprimand them.

    6. Do you have any idea how you would want to give birth (aka natural or give-me-the-drugs)?
Mine would either be a planned C section or with drugs - i am a high risk pregnancy because of my heart condition. After having 15 open heart surgeries there's no way the doctors would risk it.

    7. Who would be in the birthing room with you when you gave birth?
    My sweetie and his mother.

    8. Any interesting birth stories from your family?
My mother had a dream about giving birth to me. It started out with her going into labor. Then it proceeded to her having complications - the heart monitor started acting up. Her heart and my heart were being effected by the stress. Move to a c-section. In her dream my mother dies on the table when they pull me out.

Step by step, her dream came true and she was freaking the hell out! I was born, she was fine and my heart condition was discovered. had my first surgery when i was about 6 hours or so old.

I am glad that your birth went alright! It is so hard to have a child with a condition. My cousin's second child was born missing a heart valve. He had a handful of surgeries before he was 6 months old. None of the surgeries have taken 100% successfully, so they ended up putting a fake valve in. But, his life expectancy is cut now. He has issues with his heart growing faster than his body and with having to have the valve replaced every few years as a child. He was in the hospital over the summer, because his heart had enlarged to a dangerous point. The situation is very sad :-(

    edited December 2013
BF and I recently had a discussion about future children and such. I was planning on posting this later, but seeing how several people have brought up things about children in the Tuesday questions thread, I though I would ask some questions now. Hopefully this isn't too many questions for one day. Feel free to add more!

    1. Do you want children? If so, how many?
Yes, 2, Just have my first 6 months ago

    2. Do you have a perfect ratio in mind of boy to girl?
    1 boy, 1 girl

    3. Have you and your SO decided on any names together?
We have Claire Elise, and if we have a boy, Trevor Vincent, if we have another girl her 1st name will be Emily.

    4. Do you have any guilty pleasure names?
Love Autumn...but DH shot it down.

    5. Do you and your SO have any disagreements about children?
    No.

    6. Do you have any idea how you would want to give birth (aka natural or give-me-the-drugs)?
Claire was induced due to low amniotic fluid levels. I got the epidural and gave birth vaginally. Definitely want the epidural again.

    7. Who would be in the birthing room with you when you gave birth?
just DH and nurse and Dr.

    8. Any interesting birth stories from your family?
DD was born on my FIL's 50th birthday..they share the same birthday! I was also born on January 29th, and her's is May 29th- we share the number 29.

I am sorry to hear that. I hope everything is alright and that he leaves the hospital soon. Being i the hospital most of your childhood is not fun, no matter how many people visit you. Hopefully he has a wonderful outcome. My parents were told by doctors to not expect me to live past my 5th birthday. I just celebrated my 26th birthday at the end of Nov. So you never know =)

  • @CL1242009 - it is the outcome we are hoping for :-) He is such a happy boy! We all adore every moment we get with him and hope for the best. Happy belated birthday!!!

  • 1. Do you want children? If so, how many?
2-3 children is our ideal but we might want 4 depending on how their ages are spaced apart

    2. Do you have a perfect ratio in mind of boy to girl?
Nope, no ratio in mind. Although we would like to have at least one boy before having girls.

    3. Have you and your SO decided on any names together?
Not really... We both like names that are obviously masculine for boys, though.

    4. Do you have any guilty pleasure names?
Janeway... As in Captain Kathryn Janeway of the USS Voyager. Actually, any of the names of Starfleet captains (Picard, Sisko, Kirk). But the name would be most likely be a middle name for a child. I'm impartial to Magnus as well.

    5. Do you and your SO have any disagreements about children?
Not really. We've talked about what we would do different from our own parents experiences in raising us and we have similar views. Additionally, I'm a psychotherapist who works primarily with children and I have a good knowledge base and ample experience in parenting education to draw from.

    6. Do you have any idea how you would want to give birth (aka natural or give-me-the-drugs)?
Natural. I have a very high pain tolerance.

    7. Who would be in the birthing room with you when you gave birth?
Just my (future) husband. I'd want him standing behind me though, I do *not* want him to get a bird's eye view of the action.

    8. Any interesting birth stories from your family?
I was born almost 3 weeks late. My mother's water broke in the fine linen's department in Macy's NYC. I think it explains why I have good taste in housewares ;)
  • 1. Do you want children? If so, how many?
Yes, we want two.  But of course, I'm pregnant with a singleton now, so my next pregnancy will end up being twins and we'll end up with 3, lol.

    2. Do you have a perfect ratio in mind of boy to girl?
I couldn't care less. I just want healthy kids.

    3. Have you and your SO decided on any names together?
For right now, we like Caleb for a boy and Claire for a girl.  We're waiting until we find out the sex before we really lock it down though.

    4. Do you have any guilty pleasure names?
I like the name Asher for a boy and Willa for a girl, but H doesn't like them, so they weren't even considered.  I doubt I'd actually use them for our kids anyways, but I still kind of like them for other babies.

    5. Do you and your SO have any disagreements about children?
Not really. I'm sure we'll run into difference of opinions on some things, but so far we're on the same page for big picture stuff.

    6. Do you have any idea how you would want to give birth (aka natural or give-me-the-drugs)?
I'll probably want the epidural.  Other than that, my focus is solely on healthy mom and baby, so if that's a vaginal delivery or a C-section, I'll do what I need to.

    7. Who would be in the birthing room with you when you gave birth?
Just the medical staff and H.  Although only the medical staff will be allowed the full view (H doesn't want to see it anyways).

    8. Any interesting birth stories from your family?
Neither my mom or sisters have had a labor/delivery longer than 8 hours total.  My mom barely even made it to the hospital with me (from the first contraction until I was out was just under 2 hours).  I hope this bodes well for me...
