Who's snowed in?

What's on for the weekend?

We have a bunch of little things- oil change, party, putting up the tree.  FIL mentioned taking the kids to Frozen if the weather allows.

Re: Who's snowed in?

  • I WISH. It's just nasty, cold rain here. It's not enough to freeze the precipitation into snow, but it's cold enough to piss me off.

  • No snow.  It's weird to say that because we usually have all the snow.

This weekend I want to get some pictures of the kids and attempt a family picture.  My mom mentioned something last weekend about coming here this weekend so I can help her shop but I haven't heard from her so I have no idea what her plan is.

My goal for today is to ship my SS gift.

  • I don't have much going on at work.  I'd planned on leaving at noon, we shall see if that happens.  Then I go home, pack and have lunch with H before I drive 4 hours north, where I know they had a snowmageddon.  Should be interesting.
  • We've got at least 2 feet of snow here :(.  That will be here until April or May :(:(

Jealous. I miss living in a snowy area. The weather here just blows.

  • Oface - between you and the great white north, it should be good driving.  I'm about 1/2 way between and we didn't get any snow, just really cold temps.  We are still at -2 at 9 AM.  BRRRRR.

  • Unrelated, but this video just made my entire day: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxqN2dvj2gk

  • We have about 2 in or so.   It's not snowing any longer either.  I hope this is it.

Tonight:  I'm baking cookies with a friend.  The kiddo and friends are going ice skating for the kiddo's bday.
Tomorrow:  Take kiddo's friends home, lunch out (kiddo's request), decorating for Christmas, I have my mom group cookie exchange
Sunday: Kiddo's actual bday, french toast for breakfast, IL's over for football and dinner

We're going to be action packed this weekend.
  • We're at 6 inches and it's still going.

I came into work and I'm having a bit of a temper tantrum about it.  Most of the rest of the staff didn't come in.  That's fine, I'm a mile from work so really unless it's a blizzard, I'm coming in.  BUT, a lot for the staff was sent home by their boss.  However, since I have 4 different people I work for/report to, no one is really "in charge" of me.  Which means there's no one to send me home w/pay like the other staff members.  And that's kind of crappy right now.
  • MNNEBride  Thank you, that helps my brain a bit.

It's always the worst part just GETTING to the MN border because it's halfway, and then it's smooth sailing.

Looks like all roads to the border are "normal" driving conditions.  You should be good to

We're just starting to get snow.  They are speculating an ice storm Sunday.  DH got handed his "essential employee papers" for the year.  No snow days for him.

  • Well no snow here obviously although it was 34 degrees this morning. I guess I'll take waking up 5 times a night to feed DD if it means staying indoors in bed all day. MIL, stepFIL, and GrandpaIL come today. My anxiety is slowly rising because MIL literally wants to spend all her time at our house "helping" me. Hell no.
  • Chilly here over night and the next storm is headed our way today. Our mountains are getting more snow and I want to take dd up. I might just go up with her on my own Monday. Sorry to everyone else that gets this storm after us, subs like a doozy.

I work tomorrow night, so we are laying low at home, getting decorations up. My goal is to come home and sleep really quick Sunday so I can go out and pick up the last few gifts we need, including secret Satan. Then we have friends coming over that night for games. Should be a good weekend.
  • It's currently 79-82 degrees and partly cloudy in my part of Florida. Supposed to rain tomorrow. Have grocery shopping and errands to run tomorrow, everything else is/can be done indoors.

I will happily stand here in shame as you all throw snowballs at me :)

We're iced in here in Texas. My street is a skating rink. At least two inches of solid ice. Not going anywhere, so we're cleaning and catching up on tv shows.
  • Hot Mulled Wine recipe:
    1 bottle of red wine
1/2 cup of brandy or rum (optional)
    1 cup water
1 large orange, peeled then juiced
    1 lemon or lime, peeled
1/2 cup agave syrup or sugar
    5-6 whole cloves
    1 nutmeg, about 10 gratings (1/2 tsp)
    1 cinnamon stick
    1 vanilla bean, halved
    2 star anise

Warm the wine in a lidded pot on medium until it steams, add spices and turn to low heat, and let mull for 20 minutes or more (an hour is better). Stir in the lemon & fruit & sweetener and serve warm in mugs. nom nom nom
