Necklace

Good morning....
My parents are getting my wedding jewelry for me as a Christmas present (a creative way to keep our budget in check, haha!) and I'm having a hard time deciding between a few.

This is my dress:  http://www.essensedesigns.com/essense-of-australia/dresses/detail/D1521    It's hard to tell in the pictures, but the lace has clear sequins in it, so it has a lot of sparkle even though it doesn't have beading, etc.  I'm planning on having my hair up and low to one side.

I'm planning on wearing pearls - and if I go with a bigger necklace, we'll get a bracelet also, and do small pearl earrings.  Here are the ones I'm looking at...

(really pretty, but I'm wondering if the part in the middle is too much?)

(the back of this one is kind of cool, and still has the stacked-pearls look but doesn't seem as big as the first)

(Very similar to #2)

Thanks!

Re: Necklace

  • #2 gets my vote. I think the big gem in #1 looks gaudy. Since your hair will be low and to one side, I think the offset broach in #2 will balance your look a bit. Very pretty.

  • I like #2 and #3.  I agree with southernbelle, #1 looks gaudy.

  • I hate necklaces with wedding dresses.  And I think your dress is gorgeous and already has enough going on where a big statement necklace or any necklace for that matter may be a bit much.

But with that said I would go with number 3.  I like the brooch better in that one.  Number one is just...no.

  • #1 is just too much. The other two are both nice.
  • I would choose #2. Your dress is beautiful!

I agree with this. Having either of these necklaces would be taking away from the dress.

I like #1. I do not like gaudy or really big jewelry at all but out of the 3 that's the one I would vote for. The other two, if you just turn them, you would be getting #1 anyways....lol

I know they're designed to be off to the side, but my experience with necklaces, they do not stay in one place. Never worn a necklace like this so I might be wrong *shrugs*

  • I like #3 the best and you could always message the seller to see if she would be willing to add a longer "tail" in the back.  Based on the construction of the necklace it would be super easy to do, but she may charge you a little bit more for the extra materials.
  • I love them all! I like #3 the best but I think all will look stunning!

I'm with Maggie on this one.  Not a fan of necklaces with gorgeous bridal gowns at all.  A pretty bracelet and earrings looks so much cleaner and less dated in my opinion.  If you really want a necklace, I'd go with something simple.
  • I vote #2, reason being, its simplier and won't distract so much from the beauty of your dress. You want people to look at the whole image of you, not to be drawn immediately to your necklace. Also with #2 you would be able to incorporate more into future outfits for like a night on the town or a formal event or even to be a guest at a wedding. Then every time you wear the necklace it will remind you of your special day. And if you continue to wear it, it will become a family heirloom that maybe you will be able to pass on to a child of yours one day.
  • Thanks everyone!  It helps to hear actual opinions instead of only "Whatever you want!" (though, I'm not complaining because we all know that won't last long, haha!)

I thought I had it narrowed down... then my mom started talking about wanting to give me a strand of real pearls for Christmas (to wear for the wedding & have after).  The more I think about it, just 1 or two strands of pearls might be better than all of the strands and the brooch.  Especially if the brooch wouldn't stay in place....

    Thanks again for the opinions!

I like this idea.  It will look classic and beautiful and you will be able to wear those forever (and always think of your wedding when you do :-)
