Way to make MOH stand out

So we finally decided this weekend on a bridesmaids dress, and yesterday we decided on the colors (Navy, Blush, Gold, and maybe some mint or grey accents, but we dont know yet). This is the dress: http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Strapless-Satin-Pleated-Bodice-Ball-Gown-F15554_Bridal-Party-Bridesmaids-All-Bridesmaid-Dresses and it will be in Marine. I don't know how to make my youngest sister, who is my MOH, stand out a little. I do know I want them all in the same color dress. I thought a sash may make her look childish (plus I think with either color it would stand out too much since the dress is dark and the other colors are light). We were already planning on having her bouquet be a little different, but for me I dont think that is enough. Any suggestions??

Re: Way to make MOH stand out

  • Something for her hair?

But you really don't need anything.  She will be standing next to you at the wedding which is the traditional spot for the MOH so your guests will know who she is.

  • I think the flowers will be enough to make her stand out. If the girls are going to have matching jewelry, have hers same style but slightly different? Else the only way to make her stand out is in a different style dress then everyone else or a different color.
  • I was thinking maybe the jewelry as well but I was wondering if there was something I was possibly missing for ideas.
  • Don't dictate the jewelry, let the girls pick out their own jewelry. Your sister will be standing next to you, everyone will know she's the MOH. My sister (MOH) in addition to having a different dress from the other girls was our officiant so she stood out in a big way!
  • She's standing next to you, people will already know.

Don't tell your BMs what jewelry to wear, anyway. Seriously, no one will notice. I couldn't tell you what my BMs wore.
  • I am giving jewelry as a gift, but they dont have to wear it, although I know they will lol. At my brothers wedding my SIL gave earrings and didn't require anyone to wear them and everyone did. I am going a little all out on their gifts since i only have my 2 sisters and my SIL. Jewelry, a custom clutch for each of them and then a ring/earring dish that is personalized.
  • I have co-Maids of honor so I wanted to make them stand out since having two is different. I have not decided yet but here are some of the ideas I have thought about.
    - Beaded Sash added to the dress (my fav idea)
    - Darker shade of the same same dress
    - My florist said she could wrap their bouquets like a ballet shoe w/ the criss cross

  • I like the idea for the bouquet ribbon! I was thinking of adding a brooch as well to the ribbon on the bouquet. Just a little something extra.
  • Just FYI anything you do to the stem of the bouquet no one will notice since the BMs hands will be covering it, thus you trying to make the MOH stand out a moot point.

  • Make her whole bouquet a little different. You could make it bigger, with different flowers, etc. For example, could you do the BMs with pink/blush flowers and the MOH with ivory/white flowers?

  • My MOH wore a black lace bolero over her dress.
  • Looking at the dress - could you maybe add some type of embellishment (beading) to the sweetheart neckline just to make it standout a little bit more?

  • My FSIL is making me a hair comb to wear for the wedding, and she made my MOH a smaller one that matches mine.
  • I wore this dress as MOH in my sister's wedding. I wore black and the other 2 BM wore red. Everyone would have known I was MOH regardless, but I do want to chime in and say I don't think a sash really works with the dress. I would say use either a different shade of blue or different flowers.
  • - Hair different than the other BMs?
    - A sash or belt could be added to the dress
    - her jewelry could be different
    - her bouquet could be made differently
    - opposite color of the BMs for her dress? (i was at a wedding when I was a little girl. It was a christmas wedding and all the BMs were in red drsses except the MoH. She was wearing a beautiful dark green dress. The Best Man's vest matched her and so on for the groomsmen.)
