Friday!

Morning all! What's up for the weekend?

Tonight I'm having dinner with my BFF. We will be drinking ALL the wine. Look out for the drunk texts/Facetime requests. You've been warned.

Tomorrow, H will be working all day so I'm going to clean the apartment, wrap Christmas gifts, and attempt to decorate my supermini tree. We have a Devils game tomorrow night as long as H gets home early enough to go.

Sunday my Eagles play at 1 so I'll be at the bar. They're having REAL (Amoroso) rolls from Philly shipped in and are adding the Philly cheesesteak to the menu. The bartender for the games is from Philly so he's already lectured the chef on the correct preparation. WHIZ WIT PLEASE!

Sunday night we're supposed to go to dinner with some of H's family so I have to do my best not to drink too much. Ha. And then the season finale of Homeland!

Re: Friday!

  • @swazzle your weekend sounds like so much fun. Confession: I've never had an authentic Philly Cheesesteak. It's on my bucket list though.

Tonight we're braving the crowds and going grocery shopping. Tomorrow we're baking cookies and drinking. Tomorrow night we'll have to go to bed early since BF is working 6am on Sunday. Sunday while he's at work, I'll wrap his Christmas gifts and then spend the rest of the day relaxing, cleaning and doing laundry since my dad is coming in next week ugh...

  • I'm at the tail end of my PMDD week.  if I can make it without falling face first into a chocolate cake, it'll be a success.

I've never had a real philly cheesesteak either!  it sounds SO GOOD.

@Swazzle - are the Amoroso rolls the bread part of the sandwich?  I am ignorant in the art of philly cheesesteaks.
  • I'm super bummed about this weekend.

We were supposed to be going to a Christmas party at the barn tomorrow afternoon, and then straight to our BFFs Ugly Christmas Sweater/Chili Cook-Off party right afterwards. Then on Sunday we were going to go finish our Christmas shopping. BUT, el Senor's brother annouced LAST FRIDAY that he's leaving to move to L.A. THIS SUNDAY. Not a whole fucking lot of notice. I'm not happy. Guess we don't have to take others into consideration anymore. I'm beyond fucking annoyed, if you can't tell.

I refuse to tell Bean that he has to miss out on at least the barn party since he looks forward to it all year. So, that means el Senor is traveling to NC tonight by himself, and Bean and I are stuck going to the party by ourselves. Also, without el Senor's help, I don't feel comfortable going to both parties since the roads are supposed to kind of suck tomorrow night (snow/freezing raing early in the day, then rain, then freezing temps to turn it all to black ice after nightfall), and they're more than an hour drive apart. SO, we're probably missing out on BFFs party...which I was so insanely psyched for since I never get to see friends. I cried this morning. Like super cried. I know it's mostly hormones.

With the roads as bad as they're possibly supposed to be, I don't even know if we'll make it to the barn party at this point. If that happens I will be unbelievably steaming pissed off.

Sunday is pet adoption event day, so Callie and I will be headed to that. Then afterwards, I will have to finish the Christmas shopping...on my own...since el Senor won't get back till later in the day.

Please forgive my ragey ranting. YAY FRIDAY! I'm having a hard time mustering excitement.

  • Tonight I'm hoping not to do much of anything - make a pizza w/FI for dinner and just watch TV.

Tomorrow - I have my 1 year out eye appointment from LASIK and they are doing a teeth whitening for me too.  Then I have tix for Trans Siberian Orchestra, but it's supposed to snow and they were free and really crummy seats, so we'll see (I want to go though).

Sunday - I have to work :( oh well, at least I get overtime!!

  • I have a hockey game tonight and then I'm going to my BFFs house for wine & a sleepover. (@swazzle - I will accept any FaceTime request after 930pm.) She's doing a trash the dress session tomorrow, so I'm helping her with hair & makeup in the morning, and then serving as the Dog Wrangler for the shoot - I did the same for her & her now H's engagement session, so it should be fun.

Tomorrow after the TTD shoot, I have another hockey game. Sunday BF & I are going to do some Christmas shopping (hopefully finish!!) and then I have a holiday party with my fellow deans & directors at my bosses' house. Should be a fun weekend!

@beanbot2002: I'm sorry!  That sounds so frustrating.  Hopefully the roads aren't full of ice and you and the Bean enjoy a lovely barn party.

Tonight I need to get a haircut.  It's getting so long, and not pretty long.  Dead long.  So, it needs to be chopped off.  I have been trying to work up the courage to do something fun with my hair, but I don't think I have the courage today.  We're trying out a new Mexican restaurant (an independent Chipotle-type place) that opened in a nearby town tonight, and then, if we have the energy (unlikely), we'll go to Target at like 8:30pm.

Tomorrow I have a TON of errands, and a big snow is supposed to start around 2pm, so I need to get them done as early as possible.  I'll do chores around the apartment in the afternoon, and then we're having a movie night where we turn out all the lights and just have the tree lights on.  Not sure what movie yet.  Any suggestions?  I haven't watched Christmas Vacation yet, so I think I'll be getting that under the tree for Christmas this year.  I'm very behind!  I had ordered the Sound of Music on BlueRay, but it's not going to be here in time.  H has never seen it, so we'll have to watch after the holidays.  We NEVER watch movies, so movie nights are rare for us, but the Sound of Music is special and time must be made for it!

Sunday, we will have to dig out from 6 or more inches of snow to go to my work holiday party brunch.  It's at a very fancy hotel downtown and is always a good time with great food.  H is playing Santa for all the kids this year... this should be interesting... :)  Once we get home, I need to get our Christmas cards together so they can go in the mail on Monday.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

ETA: The Sound of Music will NOT be here in time for our movie night (boo).

  • I'm so ready for the work day to be over already. Heading to FI's tonight and he dropped a hint last night that he has a present for me and I have no clue what it is. So excited about that.

Tomorrow we are probably off to his Freemason installation unless the weather is too bad. If it is, it's going to be a day of watching Christmas movies.

    No idea about Sunday yet.

  • @buddysmom80 - We need to remedy that ASAP. I vote for a day-trip to Philly sometime soon. We can make @sakalicious meet up with us!

@CocoBellaF - Yes. The roll really makes the cheesesteak. The roll is also good on its own. Mmmmm they're so delicious.

@beanbot2002 - I'm sorry you're going to miss out on the party :( Please, please, PLEASE drive safely though. And good luck at the adoption event!!

@Dignity100 - I had LASIK about 4 years ago. Isn't it the BEST thing you've ever done?!

@BriSox81 - 9:30 is really late. I'll do my best, though!

@SarahA519 - I DVRed Love Actually because I've never seen it before but everyone loves it so I vote for that.

  • @swazzle - I just wanted you to know, because the last time you FaceTime requested me eight times during a hockey game. Haha.

  • Tonight is gaming, but I think it will be the last time until after New Year's because it's technically a college club. Last winter they did run a side campaign for a couple of weeks, don't know if they'll do that again, but if they do whatever.

Tomorrow I'm going to a LYS to learn how to Kitchener together the two halves of my scarf and do the finishing sewing. This is the closest to making "real clothing" I've ever come in my life. Otherwise I'm sending BF down to my mom's favorite craft store to get her a gift certificate there for Christmas and I think that just about wraps up my shopping. Don't know what I'll do the rest of the day, but BF and I are having lunch with my mom and dad, if he's around.

Sunday is for football. Also for gaming this week. BF has a game he plays with my BFF, but he can't start until after the Seahawks game. She and I will probably watch it "together" on Facebook. She's gonna love her Christmas present this year - I just hope she'll be honorable and wait until Christmas day to open it, but if she doesn't no big deal. I got her a Seahawks beanie because she mentioned wanting one.
  • @BriSox81 - It was obviously important.

    Not really.

  • @beanbot2002 Sorry your weekend plans got ruined by El Senor's brother. :( Please be safe on the roads! I hope you and Bean have fun at the barn party and have good luck Christmas shopping!

I'm super happy because I got an email from my company's HR today telling me that I had received a $100 giftcard as a Christmas present! So now I'm trying to decide how I want to apply it...basically they gave me a list of 50 bazillion businesses to choose from and my $100 is applied as a giftcard to one of them. So now I'm going back and forth between movies, restaurants, and shopping and then I'll be able to narrow it down from there.

Today I'm just working from home and running errands. I just dropped off BF's suit and my bridesmaids dress at the dry cleaners. I'm half debating wearing my dress next week to his company Christmas party at this super swanky country club. What do you guys think? I also have a really cute dress from Loft that I bought for the party and my sister's RD.

    image orimage

Anyway...today my other goals are to take Cinders to the dog park this afternoon and put up the rest of my Christmas lights. It's been raining a ton here the last couple of weeks so she's been stuck inside a lot. Now that we've had a couple of days of nice weather the park should be a little bit dried out. I also haven't been able to put my lights up all week...first because of the rain and then because BF and I were housesitting for my parents while they were out of town.

Saturday we have plans to go to North Georgia for some sort of music festival but it's supposed to rain all day (AGAIN) so we may end up staying home. If we stay home I plan on baking cookies and pumpkin bread to toss in with BF's family's Christmas package. Sunday is supposed to be a nicer day so if we don't get out on Saturday then we'll go hiking and shopping in North Georgia on Sunday.

  • @TwoDimes: It took a little arm twisting, and a bribe.  We were desperate.  I'm a little nervous about how it's going to go, because he's a little awkard around kids he doesn't know (although he's really fantastic with kids he does know).  He did ask me what he's supposed to say if the child asks if he's real or some other question like that.  I have no idea what to tell him...
  • @Swazzle - The first 2 months I had LASIK I was totally unimpressed - even though I could see, my eyes felt gritty and itchy no matter how many drops I put in.  But now, I'm super glad I did it!  I got it done before going down to Disney and because of sunglasses and a baseball cap, I felt like I looked like a 'person of interest' or something.  My eyes had started rejecting contacts and my eyelashes hit the lenses on my glasses (not to mention I always misplaced my glasses).

  • I have an interview at 4 today that I am so nervous about. I really want the job! Later night, FI and I are going out to a bar to drink and listen to our friends' band who is also playing our wedding reception. I love going out to see them!

Saturday afternoon we have a Christmas party at FI's parents with their friends. After that, our friends are also having a Christmas party that we are hoping to go to.

Sunday we have a Christmas dinner with just FI's parents and us at their house.

  • I iz hungover.  There was lots of wine last night.  My everything hurts today.  I'm grumpy and would really like my high maintenance customer to just place his order so I can lie on the couch the rest of the day.  I have no motivation for more work.  Emails will be answered while lying in a prone position.

We had our fun for the weekend last night.  H's party was awesome and we had a private room at an upscale bar in River Norh.  Then the after party headed to another private room at House of Blues.  We actually left early, but clearly there was lots of fun. Well at least according to the size of my headache it was;)

Tomorrow we head to OH for H's grandfathers funeral.  He passed last week, and it was originally going to be on Monday.  When his family went through his G's stuff, they found a request for a family only graveside service, and a party in his honor.  So they're skipping the typical synagogue service, and going to celebrate at MIL's house tomorrow and Sunday night.  Its a very fitting send off for the man.  He was pretty awesome.

  • @Dignity100 - I was very fortunate, I had no side-effects whatsoever. Other than some redness on my eye from the suction for a couple weeks, I had no issues. Yay for perfect vision!

  • Happy Friday, ladies!

Tonight is our going away party with our friends. I can't believe it is here! We're going over to one of my girlfriend's places for beer and chit chat with about 40 people (it is a co-party with another couple who are also leaving this month).

Tomorrow I'm hoping to get up early-ish and going to Target to get going away presents for my lab. Then I'm getting my hurr-did at 2pm. I hope they do a nice blow-out. . . because tomorrow night DH and I are going to his work Holiday party at the MSI. I'm wearing a sexy green dress.

Sunday I'm sure I'll be hungover and tired as hell. And probably, if this cold is real, feeling very sick. I will lay on the couch and watch football. AND I need to pack or study for my thesis defense. Or something. . . lol.
  • I am so glad the week is over looking forward to the weekend.  Tonight is opening night of A Christmas Carol so excited and my niece is in it too.  She has been having so much fun and is really good for being only 6.  It's makes me a proud theater aunt!

We have a show tonight two tomorrow and one on Sunday.  So I'll be doing nothing but performing.  Hopefully the snow we're supposed to get doesn't prevent us from performing tomorrow.

  • @CASK85 - Pics of your hot green dress?!

@Peaseblossom55 - Good luck with your show!

  • I'm really looking forward to this weekend! Tonight BF and I are going to go look at Christmas lights (a yearly tradition). This year we are going to Hudson Gardens (http://hudsongardens.org/) to see their lights. In the past we've gone to the Denver Zoo and the Botanic Gardens so I'm really excited to go to a new place this year.

We don't have anything planned for Saturday. We'll probably just relax and stay home.

On Sunday we are going to see The Hobbit! I'm SO excited! We are hoping it will be a lot less crowded on a Sunday night.

  • Swazzle said:

I can't find it online for the life of me. I will post pics of us all fancied up on Monday. The museum where the party is has dozens of culturally decorated Christmas trees, so I'm hoping to get some nice photos :)
  • @lmhollister: Since it's a swanky party, I think you could pull off the long dress, and I adore it.  Simple and classy, but the color makes it pop.  The shorter dress is adorable too, so you really can't go wrong.  Both are beautiful, but I say take the opportunity to wear the long one since those don't come along as much.  The shorter dress could work for many more occasions.  Just my two cents.
  • Tonight H and I are staying in since we have had eventful evenings the past two nights. I'm making spaghetti after CrossFit and we will probably go over all my paperwork for my new job.

Saturday H is volunteering at his school and I'm going to attempt to put up lights around our porch. We are late on this but we really didn't have many lights until last weekend so we still have a week and a half until Christmas to show them off. After that I want to see if we can go get a little tree because I only have like 10-15 ornaments lol we are so bad about decorating this year. That night is my friend's graduation party, I don't think we will stay too long because she is related to my ex and I believe his family will be there which makes things awkward.

Sunday is church and afterwards we will probably do some grocery shopping and just get ready for the week ahead. I'm so interested to see how my first day will go...I'm also a little nervous.
  • My plans changed - I'm going to win MegaMillions!!  (Don't I wish!)
