Wine glass favors

I'm so excited about my favors. I got some beautiful aqua wine glasses at Old Time Pottery for $1.00 each! They will serve several purposes: 1. They will look pretty on the tables. 2: I'm considering putting place cards in them 3. I want to add a little "thank you" tag so people will know to take them. Maybe with some kind of wording like "remember us and the celebration of out marriage each time you have a toast" kinda of thing. 4. They will be functional. Those who drink wine that night can use them.

Re: Wine glass favors

  • My daughter did something similar with margarita glasses.  She created escort cards that looked like limes and used them to "rim" the glasses.  The guests took their glass into the reception room and could use them for their signature drink.....frozen margaritas.  You could try creating escort cards to look like a bunch of grapes, or a wine cork.   We looked at tutorials for making wine charms.  They are fairly easy, actually.  If you have the time and talent, you could try making wine charms that could hold a simple tag that could double as your escort card.

Sorry, I would take the favor home then dispose of it because I have no use for one random aqua wine glass.  All my barware matches.

Also, can a guest "save" their favor and use another wine glass?  If not, are you going to have someone on the staff wash and dry all the glasses after the guest is done using or do they have to bring it home wet and dirty?
  • Sounds cute!

  • My friends did something like this.  They had a barn wedding and had mason jars for drinks.  There was a sign saying to take a mason jar home as a favor.  I liked how they went with the décor of their barn wedding and I thought they were cute, but I had no use for a random mason jar at home so I didn't take one.

A month later I went to another barn wedding and they had three kinds of homemade popcorn as late snack/favor.  I used a provided paper lunch bag to take home some caramel corn and loved that favor.

I think your glasses will be nice but not everyone will enjoy them as a favor and take one home.  You could always add an inexpensive edible option if you really want people to have something to take home.

  • If it was a plain (and unused) wine glass, I would take it home. Even if it didn't match, at least it would be plain and not stick out. Aqua doesn't go with anything in my home, so I would leave the aqua wine glass. If the glass was used and not washed before I could bring it home, it would be getting left behind regardless.
  • I bet your aqua wine glasses are super cute. Hell, I bet if I saw them I'd get all "OMG I NEED this in my home because I love glassware!"  But. BUT. I'm sorry, I probably wouldn't find it useful/take it home with me, unless I could somehow get 7-11 more (which would mean mugging/bribing family members, not appropriate at a wedding) to make a set. Broke-ass college me would love it, adult building my home me would leave it cause I already have two full sets of wine glasses.

I'd suggest looking into something like @csuave said, an inexpensive edible favor as well, if you can afford it. I'd also suggest using the wine glass as a water glass for reception purposes and just let the bar provide glassware for booze.

  • Um, I wasn't really asking for your opinions. I was simply stating that I am excited about my idea and what I had found and thought someone else might want to use the same idea.

And we're letting you know how your guests may respond to it. I personally think the aqua wine glasses sound awesome but I would want a set, not the two H and I would get, so I'd be scoping the other tables trying to get more. At H's friend's wedding the did plain stemless wineglasses, we managed to snag four on the way out and I love them!
  • Thanks Jordan. We actually have purchased several extras for that very purpose. :-)

That doesn't mean you won't GET opinions just because you didn't ask for them. That's how public forums work.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14
