XP: Need to Redo Two Envelopes...OK to Handwrite or Should I Get them Reprinted?

I also posted this on the Invites and Paper board, but I know that this board receives more traffic.

I have two issues, but both involve needing to re-address two envelopes.  The first issue is that my aunt moved and didn't give anyone the new address, we only found out recently when the bridal shower invites were mailed out.  She is having her mail forwarded.  The next issue is that one of our guests recently broke up with his girlfriend.  The envelope was addressed to the both of them, but I would still like to invite him with a guest as a courtesy because I'm sure this is a rough time and going to a wedding, I want him to enjoy himself.

Do I leave the envelopes addressed the way that they are, hoping that my aunt's gets the invite and explain to our newly single guest that even though the envelope is addressed to the both of them, he is more than able to bring someone else with him?

Do I handwrite new envelopes even though the return address is printed?

Or do I see if the place I purchased our invites and envelopes from can just reprint two new envelopes for a minor cost?

Thanks!!

  • Can you just print them at home? There are envelope templates on Microsoft Word. All you have to do is input the information you want on the envelopes. We did all the envelopes for our STD cards ourselves even though we had the cards themselves printed elsewhere. It literally took 2 minutes to get the address in the template and printed.

  • Ditto pp's. Either hand-write or print at home. I feel like unless you have them done special with a calligrapher, people don't remember the envelopes much.

  • People aren't going to compare envelopes. Unless you went over the top with hand calligraphy or gold ink, nobody's going to notice that a couple were different. Go ahead and do them by hand or on your own printer.

  • I'd hand write it and call it a day. I had to do that with some of my STDs. Wasn't the end of the world.

  • I had to do few re-do's and just printed them at home. was easy to do.  If you have nice handwritting, go ahead and hand write them if you like. No one will compare envelopes
