    I think it's ok to do this.  It sounds like you're all very close and that they understand that you're having a small, family-only wedding.

    I think it's ridiculous that @phira is recommending you change the size of your small, intimate, family only wedding because you want to have a friend (someone who probably cares about you regardless of the size of your wedding) go with you dress shopping.

    I didn't take offense to what she wrote (and she said some other really thoughtful things...which is why I chose to ignore some of the ones that I felt didn't pertain to my situation).

    Anyhow, I have an appointment on February 9th to go with three of my closest girl friends and it's ALL they can talk about since I invited them yesterday. They are SO excited and it made me even happier to be able to share this experience with them. :) And it made me also relieved that I feel like I can have both experiences (dress shopping AND intimate wedding) without having to trade one for the other. :)

    I can understand not being invited to a friend's wedding if they wanted a very small, intimate wedding with just their immediate family.

    But in that case, I'm not sure I'd want to go dress-shopping with them.  That's me though.

    This might be a case of "know the friend."

    I wouldn't be offended at all. As long as you explain to your girlfriends, "hey i need girls help here! but its a small family only wedding, but i still want to have a fun afternoon with you". I would be down to do that, and be completely understanding!

    @DragonBlood13 and I think it's ridiculous that you quoted one line from my post, commented, "Oh," and then called me ridiculous. Especially since I pretty much pointed out that I didn't know enough about the OP's situation to know whether rethinking the size of the wedding was going to be helpful.
