Hi…and EEEKS!!

Hello, fellow brides-to-be (...wives, mothers, ladies...)! I'm Nicole - 10 days engaged (and yes, I'll stop counting sooner or later), 6 months out from being married, and just plain head over heals excited about the whole damn thing (hence the "eels" part)! FI and I have been together just over a year, but I can honestly say that I knew 5 minutes into our first date that he was the man I wanted to be with for the rest of my life (kismet, if you will). We're in our mid and late-thirties, respectively, and call Colorado home. Our family includes his 15-year-old son, a bulldog whom we're convinced is part human and a batsh*t crazy 3-legged mutt. I look forward to digging into the boards and getting to know y'all as we get the festivity ball rolling.

  • Hey there! Your relationship started similar to mine: engaged for 15 days and planning to wed in July as well!

We knew on our second date that we'd be married (we've been together nearly 6 months).

    :)
  • Awww Congrats!!

Good to know we're in the a similar boat! I'll likely be picking your brain as we get into the throws of planning.

@doeyedo ~ I really didn't think it would be too stressful as it's going to be a very small (less than 20) ceremony/reception on Flathead Lake in MT, but house hunting has been far more difficult than expected (...though I'm not sure what we were thinking as July is peak tourist season so I shouldn't be shocked most lake front property is already booked). We're going to have a celebratory gathering back in Denver in September (...which I understand from the etiquette boards can be viewed as faux pas but no, it's not a reception and no, we won't be requesting gifts or cutting a cake or reenacting the wedding so we're quite comfortable with the plan).

Ask and you shall receive ;)

  • Welcome and congrats on your engagement!  @niccirf I came home to a mess very similar to Olive's this week, my guy did not look nearly as sorry as yours does. Your furbabies are adorable. Gus looks very happy to be wearing a birthday hat. I think I may need to start a birthday hat tradition now...

Ok, I just thought the shorter engagement time might put you in a panic as the wedding comes closer and you still have to do XYZ, it would with me anyways LOL.

A fellow Flathead Valley bride AND a bulldog owner?! You may be my new best friend ;) FI grew up in Polson and I'm in love with the novel Lonesome Dove (Gus was actually named after one of the characters), so MT was a no-brainer for us. And let's not even talk about how flippin' beautiful it is there! Can't wait to swap stories.

Oh, it likely will...no doubt the image of how smoothly things will fall together will be in stark contrast to the reality of planning it all! And to do so remotely - hope we haven't bitten of more than we chew with this little venture!
