Kind of FREAKING out!!!!

Hi gang!

When we booked our resort (Now Jade Riviera Cancun) we read predominately good reviews on sites such as TripAdvisor and they were listed as 6 gold apples on Apple Vacations.  We booked in October.

More recently, when I have been checking reviews, there have been good, but there also seems to be a lot more negative than I previously had read...one including a sexual assualt by a security guard on the premisis.

I don't know what to do.  We have guests already booked and we are still far enough out to where I think we can get all of our money back, if we change locations.  I guess I will talk to our travel agent and hear his thoughts and figure out our options.  If you were a guest and the hotel you had booked changed, would you be irriatated and annoyed??

On that note: any good recomendations for Family Friendly all inclusive resorts in the Riviera Maya area???

  • The thing with online reviews is that a lot of times you only get the folks at the extremes willing to come on and actually take the time to review. I would take them with a grain of salt. As far as the sexual assault - I might call and ask to speak to someone on site about that because it seems crazy!

I don't have any recommendations - but good luck!!
  • I wouldn't freak out about the online reviews. The above post is right - sites like Trip Advisor tend to bring out the extremes.

The review I got married at had A LOT of bad reviews. However, every single person at the wedding said they would definitely stay at the resort we chose again.

If it bothers you that much, I would take to your travel agent and see if he/she has any other feedback.

  • There are going to be all sorts of bad reviews anywhere you go. People are much more likely to post bad things than positives. As far as the one incident I wouldn't put much stock in it. Horrible things can happen anywhere and as long as there aren't a string of comments saying the same thing, assume it was just an isolated incident. Couldn't hurt to talk to your travel agent though!
