NavyBlue143. I know how you feel. Our 2 1/2 year old basset hound, Lucy, passed away in may from a particularly aggressive form of lymphoma. We tried the best chemo protocol available to no avail. We stayed with her when she was euthanized, hugging and talking to her. It was a very peaceful end. You will know when the time is right. I'm sorry about Rocky.

  • @Chipmunk415 too funny-- we have the same feeder in black, and my tuxedo cat also figured out how to break into it.  We eventually covered the opening on the inside with that green plastic mesh you put around tomato plants.  Big enough for kibble bits, but not big enough for his paw.  Eventually he gave up trying and we were able to take the mesh off.

I have two furbabies: Jack (tuxedo male) and Stella (white female).  My mom, sister, and I adopted them together.  Mom picked Stella because she looked identical to the cat we already had (rest in peace, Marley).  Jack picked me: I was standing next to his cage, looking at a different cat, and he literally stuck his little kitten paw through the bars and started petting my arm.  After that, he was coming home with me for sure.  Eventually both cats got really attached to me, so I took them when I moved in with Fi after college.

Jack is the most ridiculous lap cat I've ever met.  He will climb on top of you, whether or not you want to cuddle-- it's happening.  Stella is a little more aloof but she always gets in bed with us to snuggle for a bit; she slept on Fi's chest for like 45 minutes last night and he was afraid to move because she was too adorable.  As you can see, they both enjoy "helping" me study.  They are my babies.

  • Love all the animal pics!  My FI and I got our pup, Izzy, last year.  She was a rescue.  We were told she is an Australian shepherd/boxer.  I think she's cattle dog mix but who knows?  She's nuts!  We send her to day camp a couple days a week to burn her energy and even the "counselors" say she's crazy!

  • First world problems: my kitty is being super cute right now, curled up in the crook of my arm with her head on my chest. I just can't move her, she's too f*ing cute!

@navyblue143 Captain Mal is an awesome name.  I love Firefly.
I don't have any fur babies but I do have a feather baby.  Her name is Toot, she's about 7 years old and she's a white bellied caique.  I love her to death, she's super cuddly, affectionate and playful and always wants my attention.  She'll sit on my shoulder for hours, some nights when I watch TV she'll even fall asleep on me. She likes to sit on windowsills and play by rolling onto her back and kicking her feet, or by rubbing her head all over anything soft.  She doesn't talk, but she whistles, and imitates laughing and kissing noises.
The first photo was taken after I painted her beak with Puppy Paint- it's non-toxic and odorless so she wasn't bothered by it.  And I can't get the second one to not be sideways.

  • @haileysancingbear she is so cute!!! I've always wanted a pet bird but I've always had cats and am too scared to attempt it.

Actually, that's a Cardigan Corgi. Cardis always have tails. Pembrokes can have tails or not. Our Pem has a nubbin instead of a tail, but we don't know if she has a genetic nubbin or if she was docked because we got her when she was eight months old and she came from a puppy mill with bad recordkeeping.

  • @Jdluvr I've seen cats get along with birds, but I think that just depends on how docile the cat is. If you ever are in a place where you'd feel safe owning a bird, they make amazing pets :)  They're expensive, but they live for a very long time and are very smart, loving creatures as long as you give them the attention they need.  I love having a bird as a pet.
