What's everyone up to?

Fi and I are doing a major house organization/ cleaning.  Our tiny apartment is way too cluttered and we're trying to clear things out.  We are also toying with the idea of listing our apartment for rent during Super Bowl weekend since we live so close to the Meadowlands, and put an extra couple thousand in our wedding fund.  But the house has to look perfect before we do that.

Anybody else having a productive Sunday?  The boards seem pretty quiet!

  • I am not being productive today at all. I cannot seem to get motivated to even one thing on my to-do list. I did do some laundry, but other than that, I am just dicking around here.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • You're going to let strangers come live with you for Super Bowl weekend?

  • FI's sister and her hubby came over earlier to do some car maintenance. I made them brunch of bacon and eggs. In a wok. Because that's what I do. We talked wedding stuff since they just got married in June. Now FI and I are watching tv before we get out the boxes to take down Christmas decorations. Once that's done, I'll make dinner and we'll work on writing our ceremony. I think it's a nice combination of relaxing and wedding planning. Oh yea, and I'm going to drink the hell out of the half bottle of prosecco that's in the fridge.

  • I'm about to binge-watch 'Castle' and work furiously on a baby blanket for a co-worker. I'd like to finish the blanket tonigjt, which is totally do-able.

  • We went out suit shopping for FI for the wedding, and they had a two-for-one sale! So he got his wedding suit, shirt, tie, etc., and then a whole other suit ensemble for free :) We also hit up Costco this morning... I need to stop going there on weekends. Holy zoo.

Now, we're catching up on the last season of Breaking Bad. However, it's been so long since we watched the previous season, I'm pretty darn lost. FI keeps having to explain who people are, and why they're doing things haha

  • FI took me to a bridal show over lunch. It was fun getting to look around and get ideas. Although now we are torn on our caterer. We found an amazing caterer at the show who has a mobile kitchen and will cook it fresh on location. Plus they even do specialties like wild meats (venison, moose, elk, wild boar). FI is a big hunter and having wild game for our reception would be amazing! Decisions... decisions...
  • We went to the mall, and finally got all the Christmas returns done.  Yay!!  Now I'm planning on vacuuming up the tree needles that are still in the carpet (ours broke and we had to borrow my parents vacuum), and then I might look at my Uni class.  It's part online, part in class, and he keeps adding things throughout the week through e-mails, discussions, readings, etc., so every time I feel like I'm done something else pops up.  Arg!!

  • Watching NFL playoffs while surfing the net for a new setting for my e-ring.    DH is next to me with a cocktail playing with the Brookstone Sand Box I gave him for xmas.

  • @winstonsgirl, I feel your pain!   Very similar to my class. I got home from class at midnight on Friday, picked up my dress yesterday (! :-)) , then pretripped a truck and drove to where I will be out of. Stayed up late to study, as my shift starts tonight, 5 PM to 7 AM.
My instructor keeps adding stuff too :(

FYI OP a couple friends of ours rented their homes for the Super Bowl two years ago when it was in Indianapolis. They made a ton of money and didn't have any problems. They removed valuables etc and went to visit family for the weekend.
@AddieL75 we're going to do what Scribe is saying.  Remove valuables and stay with FPILs for the weekend.  Places around here are going for several thousand dollars for the weekend so we figure it's worth the inconvenience.  And I'm going to make sure we take a good damage deposit.  The jury is still a little bit out on whether we'll go through with it-- depends if we get contacted by anyone we think is trustworthy.  Right now we're trying to get the house super clean and shiny so we can take pics for the online listing.

  • I should be being productive, but I'm Skyping with my fiance, playing cribbage, and messing around on here.  I spent way too long earlier this afternoon ordering table runners and lace trim to add to them.
  • Went out with my parents to church and lunch for my birthday. Now home cleaning while FI makes quesodillas for supper.

......and eating all the leftover christmas candy....

  • @natswild I just replied to a couple more article critiques on our eclass page, and to 1 another student left me.  I think I'm good for today.  No articles to critique next week, thankfully.  Just another 4 to read.  Perhaps I'm not wanting to do a masters!!  ;)

  • I was supposed to clean our apartment and take down the christmas tree but instead I went to the craft store and watched movies. First it was Pitch Perfect and now its Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

  • Just got out of work, I had to work two birthday parties in a row, the first one was an art party for a bunch of 7 year olds, they painted picture frames.  The mom kinda confused my boss and I though, she told us before the party not to do name tags (Which we really only do so WE know the kids' names) because she wasn't sure if the kids could read… They're 7!!!! The second was a chocolate cupcake baking party for a bunch of 3 year olds.  Both parties went smoothly, it's just a lot of work and I'm exhausted.  I plan on spending the rest of the night making Kusudamas with something on Netflix in the background.

  • I took myself to see "August Osage County" .  If Meryl Streep doesnt win an Oscar, ill be shocked.
  • Ahhhh, ok. I envisioned you having strangers as houseguests. Do you have paperwork drawn up for something like that? I would still be pretty nervous.

Yeah I'm not totally sure if we'll go through with it-- I need to find a model rental agreement for just a weekend.  I think it will depend if we get contacted by someone who actually seems trustworthy.  We would remove anything valuable so I'm not worried about theft, but I could see damage occurring if the renters start partying or something.  Hence requiring a damage deposit.

Then again, if our house never gets clean, then it definitely isn't happening.  We were pretty productive today, but it's astounding how much junk you can cram in a one-bedroom apartment.

  • @JCBride2014 I would be too nervous to do that. You are braver than I. Today I went to my grandma's for Sunday dinner. We have a big family dinner over there about once a month. Then we drove around looking at some houses. We saw a couple of promising ones we want to ask our realtor about.
  • Right now I am watching the Broncos/Chargers game..which i don't really care about. But i did watch the niners/panthers game and was a little disappointed with the outcome...but I am confident that when they come up here to Seattle, we will whip them soundly.

  • I had a semi productive day. Woke up late because we got in late (went to watch the Wolf of Wall Street last night), and I watched a movie on lifetime. But I went on a 4 mile run, and we just took our Christmas tree downstairs  - Finally! I think I'll watch some Madmen now, then get started on dinner in a bit.

@JCBride2014, I think I would be way too nervous to do that. But I also watch a lot of Discovery ID and Forensic Files so I'm pretty much paranoid about everything lol. If you do come across someone trustworthy though, it would be pretty awesome to make a few thousand bucks for that weekend, I personally could use some extra cash myself!

  • I scrubbed the shelves in our fridge (ugh.) and then did Insanity earlier today.  FI and I then went to the mall, where I bought my wedding shoes (!!) and four bras from VS b/c all sale bras are now $19.99!  Now I'm waiting for FI to finish making soup for dinner.

See, for me, that would be when I purchase the yarn.

But all jokes aside, what you are making?

Me and Fi went to an(other) amazing brunch (at our favorite restaurant, we go there at least twice a month and they know us by name) and then stopped by my parents' house to give them their anniversary card (it's on the 17th but we were in town) - 33 years! I got them a gift certificate to Morton's. :)

Now I'm at home on the couch watching TV (Nanny Diaries, and now Have You Met The Morgans is on).
  • Watching the Golden Globes now.  Anyone else?

  • Cleaned my kitchen top to bottom today. A good deep scrubbing and did normal cleaning theough th rest of the house. Then I went dress shopping. Realized that I'm not good at being a girl and irritated my FMIL with my indecisiveness. Haha. Productive day I'd say.

I'm making a baby blanket for a co-worker's baby. Normally I love this pattern, but I cast on incorrectly so I'm having to afford and subtract stitches every row to make the pattern come out right. And of course I didn't realise it until row three. Gah.

I'm just having trouble getting into my rhythm tonight. And I want to finish this tonight so I can give it to him tomorrow since his wife is getting induced on Tuesday (she'll be a week late at that point).

  • Today, I went to the bridal extravaganza with one of my bridesmaid. Let's say it was total madness. Now I'm just at home and watching cartoons with my daughter.
  • We had our realtor over. We wanted her professional opinion about whether a kitchen re-do would pay off when we list it in the next year, or if it would be a waste of money. Our kitchen is all original 1950's so it's absolutely hideous and hardly functional- no working stove, about 1 foot of counter space, etc. She said for our house and our area a cheap reno would definitely be beneficial. So FI and I spent like 2 hours in Home Depot checking out all the pretty tile backsplashes, cabinets, counters, and appliances. I think we found the ones we want and FI and his father can install it all for free so we're excited to get started in the next few weeks!

  • Actually fairly productive planning day over here.  Picked out STD's, made our wedding website (with only a couple sections left to fill in), and looked into flowers with my mom.  Also went grocery shopping.  Pretty pleased given how late we slept this morning!
