TACKY?

I was a GUEST recently at a bridal shower (I also am a bride-it was great to NOT be the bride this day) where the prizes and favors were products (the bridesmaid  is a consultant with a makeup company/home party plan) and included in the bags with the prizes AND favors were her business card? I found this offensive as this event was for her friend and NOT a business event. What is your opinion?

  • I don't mind her giving out the products, but I think it was inapprorpiate to include her business card with it.

  • LOL, I don't love to use cap locks...but I do because most people on here dont read the entire thread.

  • That's incredibly tacky.  Kind of like she was a "sponsor" of the event, and got advertising.
  • Tacky, but not the worst thing she could have done.

The shower could have turned into a sales pitch.  That would have been worse.

  • I agree. Putting the products in the prize bags was fine, including a business card crossed into tacky.
  • Yeah, it's kind of tacky and not something I would do, but it's not something I would dwell on either.

    GUEST NOT AND NOT :)
  • Yeah, I'd say it was kinda tacky. She shouldn't be using someone's shower to sell herself.

Thanks FOR the CN, Midge. Based on them I agree TACKY!
  • At first I thought it was the bride's business card. Took me three tries to get the gist of the post (and three tries to spell "tries" right). The OP needs to use more caps attack so I better understand her post.

ANYWAY. The OP gets big ol' MEH from me on this. I guess it's tacky, but I'd probably forget about it the second I left. I'd keep the product if I liked it, throw the business card out, and move on with my life.

  • Tacky yes but it's a tough world out there.  If anybody really liked anything at least they would have her card to get more product!
  • At least it wasn't one of those deals where the consultant does the demo and you are supposed to buy something from her for the bride.  THAT would be offensive.

    I think you are OVER-reacting.
