S/O, NWR: Screen names

How did everyone come up with their screen names and what does your avatar mean?

'His Girl Friday' is a classic movie starring Cary Grant and Roslind Russell. She's a female journalist, and the movie is one of the reasons I wanted to be a reporter. '13' is my favourite number (and now part of my wedding anniversary!).

My avatar is of Rosalind Russell in that movie.

The last syllable of my fiancé's last name is "Bear" (Not spelled like that but pronounced like that) and he absolutely loves the Grateful Dead so as a nickname I often replace his last name with "Dancingbear." So it's just my first name, and Dancingbear. The photo is of the two of us together on Thanksgiving, his family took us out to a restaurant that was on the water so we ran over on the docks and snapped a photo. Of course nobody was there to hold the camera, so we didn't get as much of the scenery in the shot as we wanted, it just ended up being a two person selfie with a little water in the background.

Fun thread idea! My screen name is not particularly creative.

The JC stands for Jersey City, where Fi and I live. I feel fiercely proud of JC since a) Sandy tried to kick us out and we weren't going anywhere, and b) I spend 90% of my working time in NYC and love to defend my town. I think most people on these boards assume those are my initials, which is fine by me. JC is a perfectly good nickname!

Bride because, well, bride.

2014 was going to be our wedding year way back when I made this screen name, but we had to postpone for financial reasons. Our new date is 5-30-15.

ETA: forgot to explain my avatar. The avatar is a pic I took from a river cruise with my work this summer. The boat was just south of the island of Manhattan, so you can see the JC skyline on the left in the background, and the tip of Manhattan on the right in the foreground. It's my actual neighborhood you're seeing in the pic.

I... uh... used to sell cookies, which people would joke were laced with crack because they were so good. They called me a cookie pusher because, much like a drug pusher, the first taste was free before I took you for all you had. lol My avi is just one of the ones TK has because I was too lazy to upload something else.

My nickname is not particularly imaginative - it's what I use on almost every forum I'm on and my blogs etc. It's my surname and initials. I was going to register for TK with another username but apparently somewhere along the line I must have signed up, probably when I was helping a friend plan her wedding, so now I'm stuck with it.

My avatar is just some newspaper flowers that I fell in love with.

My username is because I love to rock climb and I didn't want to use the normal nickname I use on other forums so I had to come up with something new.

The picture is of H and I's feet after a crazy day of hiking and heat when we took off our shoes and sat near a waterfall on the beach and felt the spray and cooled off. It was about three/four hours before he asked me to marry him.

My avatar is currently a picture I took last Christmas by my parents the day after a big snowstorm. I love winter, and I love snow! But I love all seasons, so I tend to change things like my avatar when the weather starts changing...

Mine isn't really creative: Hopper is FI's last name and 25 is our anniversary day (11.25.07). It is my sn on Playstation and a couple other things so I decided to use it here. It's funny though- on PSN I get friend requests every time I play COD just because 'girl' is in my name. And I made my avatar pic because every time I had an actual picture on there it would stop working and show up as a broken image on my comp.

My name is pretty self explanatory- my first name and then FI's birthday 8/9/84. I started using his last name and birthday for a lot of passwords since I figure scammers or identity thefts are going to to try using MY birthdate if they somehow get access to it. I came up with my screenname back in 8th grade, and am far to lazy to come up with a new one. It was a combo of one of my favorite characters at the time, (Yui) and 'chibi' means little.

Prior to switching my major to nursing, I was an East Asian studies major specializing in Japanese language and North Korean history. I'm still obsessed with North Korea, and their political and almost religious ideology is Juche, or self-reliance, also referred to as the Juche Idea.

Juche is also the nickname used by my husband and friends when talking about the anti-Scientology movement, as I'm known as Juche on the boards for Anonymous.

@hisgirlfriday13 I haven't seen that movie but I am obsessed with Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers, I have all their movies! I have other old ones too like Easter Parade and I often watch TMC. I'm so sucked in by the extravagant sets and costumes and witty humor.

FI calls me Pumpkin, and I joked one day that he was being a turkey (akin to the phrase 'hamming it up' -- being silly), so the Turkey nickname just stuck for him. We laugh because together, we're Thanksgiving! haha

My avatar is one from our engagement shoot, and I love that it has both us and my ring in it (because I'm an AW who's obsessed with her ring simply because it has pink in it and I'm girly like that!)

mine is a mashup of my name. and the avatar is just a quick picture i found when i realized several months after i got on these boards that i had never uploaded one. and nola is one of my favorite cities, so a fleur de lis did the trick.
