Re: So this is where we chit and chat?

  • I'm reading textbooks. All the textbooks. I have oral comprehensive exams this spring.

Oh you mean for fun? I read Fantasy Life by Matthew Berry and loved it.
  • I didn't love Gone Girl like the rest of the world seemed to but I really liked Gillian Flynn's other two books (Sharp Objects and Dark Places) which I've read in the past few weeks. I definitely liked them better than Gone Girl.

This weekend I finished the Delirium trilogy by Lauren Oliver which I loved. However, the third one isn't technically out yet and I read a pre-released copy and I'm PRAYING the author changed the ending. I was really disappointed in it. It ended very abruptly and I wasn't pleased.

Yesterday, I read the Giver. I hadn't read it since I was younger and there's been a lot of buzz about the movie so I figured I'd refresh my memory.

Up next is The Husband's Secret by Liane Moriarty.

  • I'm reading 'This I know is true' - Wally Lamb. It's quite long and I really don't know if I'm enjoying it! I'm about 600 of 790 pages and I'm still not really sure where it's going!

I really liked the Husband's Secret. Great twists at the end.

  • @WinstonsGirl - the new section of HP World opens this summer!  I saw a commercial this morning for it before leaving for work.  I may or may not have done a happy dance :)

  • @KatWAG - Good to know! I love a good twist :)

  • @Maggie0829-  That is an amazing idea for a bachelorette party! Sadly, I don't live near Universal and haven't been to the park yet. But, I've been dying to go! I love the Harry Potter love here. If I can't find anything to read, I can always pick up the Deathly Hallows. I actually have an "All was well" tattoo. Definitely a series generations will love.

  • @Swazzle, The Husband's Secret, and her other books, are just great!

Boo!!  I might be going in April.  Having been to Florida 3 times now, I don't think it'll be high on the list again.  :(

  • I just finished Gathering Blue by Lois Lowry. It has a very similar theme to The Giver. I'm currently reading Bossypants by Tina Fey. I'm out of the loop and heard about Gone girl for the first time this morning, but it was only in passing and I don't know what its about. Since it seems pretty popular here I may need to investigate it.

Next up will be ...The Book Thief.  The latter I am reading with my kiddo, aka monkey, who is finally getting old enough to enjoy some awesome books!

I am reading The Book Thief by  Markus Zusak, which is obviously late since they have turned it into a movie but yeah I am enriching my mind through the written word nonetheless.
It's fantastic!! So beautifully written, and I loved how it was written from the perspective of 'death' without being over dark. You'll love it!

If you're looking for more "teen lit" to read with your daughter, @RWS2001, try The Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld - entertaining and thought provoking.

Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese was the best book I've read recently, but I've hit a dry spell. I'll read anything, but I'm on the hunt for something that will really pull me in. Has anyone read any John Green? I have a couple friends raving about him, but have yet to pick anything up yet.
