Macy's registry

Is anyone else having trouble with their Macy's registry? I keep finding things I like and adding them, then checking back and they have been discontinued. I am finding this problem primarily with luggage...I have found two different sets and both have been discontinued.

  • I have a Macy's registry and that happened to my luggage too.  I picked a set that was on clearance, so I think that's why.  Macy's has sales often, but I have found that when something gets marked "clearance" (as opposed to just "sale") it is usually a sign that it's heading towards discontinued.  Avoid the clearance items and you should be good to go.

  • That happened to us with our fine china - we had already received a few sets, so we ended up creating a Bloomingdale's registry and adding them there.

    Also, one item popped up online as being discontinued, and that little thing said "please select a replacement item" or whatever - I never deleted it from my registry, and two days later it was available again. I have a feeling that they use the terms "discontinued" and "out of stock" somewhat interchangeably, at least online. I'd have another set picked out, but perhaps you should keep the stuff you already have on there for a few days and see if it comes back from being discontinued. 
  • I was going to order something off of the Macy's registry in two weeks, just prior to a wedding I'm attending.

    But I went up to the registry to look around, and discovered that if I bought the gift THIS week, and used the promo code MOM, I'd save 20%.  So I bought it.

    If you have a Macy's registry, see if this is true for your registry and then you can spread the word...

    I have a Macy's registry, but it is very small.  We only have our casual dishes on that registry.  If they get discontinued, they are available at BBB, so I'm not too worried.  I'm not a huge fan of Macy's, but my mom convinced me to register there vs. Belk's, which is more regional.

  • Yeah my luggagae on my Macys regsitry has been back and forth being discontinued for months. It changes like weekly whether or not its available. Also, they recently said that my silverware was discontinued, and I was worried because we already have some of it, but now thats back to. So just wait it out, because they do this a lot.

  • This has happened to me a bunch with my Macy's Registry. I just leave the discontinued items on there and within a few days they are usually back in stock with no indication of them getting discontinued.

  • Kristen, they have those promo codes all the time (I get their emails, it's usually 20% off every other week). Just for the next time you shop at Macy's :)

    We've been through 2 sets of luggage with Macys too, finally we gave up and said we would use any gift cards we receive to purchasing luggage.  They weren't marked clearance either, it seems like they're constantly changing their luggage selection.  I've noticed they have brought back one of the sets we registered for.  Macys constantly has sales and promo codes, I've quit buying anything from them that's full price, since at least once a month they have a sale.  Frequently, their sale price will be the same as the price at BBB, and then there will be a promo code too, as much as 30-40% off (although 10-20% is their standard).
  • Hmm..that's odd. I called them about it before I posted and they said the last 15 or so items on my registry were being discontinued. Disappointing! But I will have to go back and keep an eye on that luggage after everyone said it generally comes back!

  • That happened to me as well. I checked on the registry and noticed the luggage was being discontinued, but when I checked back a couple weeks later it was available again.

  • I ve also had problems with macys! I had to change my whole bedding set. I checke for a month and it was def going to be discontinued so I chose another. And the luggag as well. In store they didnt have the one I wanted. They had a showpiece but none to scan. weird. so I went online and chose a whole different set. I do perodically check my macys registry to check for that. BBB sends emails if anything gets discontinued. 

  • Haven't noticed any problems with ours, but our luggage was bought the week we registered..
