I'm a bookworm. Last night I finished reading "Asylum" by Patrick McGrath. I was not a fan of the book, I felt it was kind of slow and it did not have much character development IMHO. So tonight I am thinking of either starting "Are you there, Vodka? It's me Chelsea", or re-reading "Jane Eyre" which is one of my all time favorite books. I also want to read "Rebecca", which I'll do if FI can find my book files on the computer [so that I can DL it to my Nook]. What is everyone reading right now? Any good book recommendations?

The Book Thief is my latest and taking me forever because reading keeps putting me to sleep at night. One of those I have read the same paragraph three days in a row type deals. It isn't because the book isn't interesting, I am just exhausted lately.

Loved "Are you there, Vodka"! Also loved "The Book Thief", thought it was beautifully written - sad you don't like it, @PolarBearFitz.

"Cutting for Stone" by Abraham Verghese and "Freeman" by Leonard Pitts were two of my most recent faves. I'm currently reading "The Fault in our Stars" by John Green and like it (just heard it's a soon-to-be released movie). My all time favorite book ever is "Lonesome Dove" my Larry McMurtry ~ epic adventure, epic love story, epic characters.

I am currently reading Cuckoo's Calling and its pretty good so far. have youread any of Jeannette Walls books? I have liked all of them. I also really liked After Her by Joycec Maynard.

My next book will be The Goldfinch.

@PolarBearFitz: I read the Book Thief one day. I was not a fan. I didn't understand what the fuss was about really. I thought it was mediocre at best.

PolarBearFitz shrekspeare I don't think I've read Ian McEwan, I'll check out Atonement. Wasn't that turned into a movie?

I second I Capture The Castle. I know I read it ages ago and liked it, but can't for the life of me remember the details haha.

I'm reading Michael Ondaajte's Anil's Ghost, which is pretty good. There's a lot of historical and regional detail which isn't always my thing, so it took me a couple of chapters to really get into it (I'll be honest -- I've been lazy reading lately, ie: mostly fluff books, so I think my brain is forgetting what it's like to work while reading haha), but now, I'm really enjoying it.

This month, I read the Hunger Games Series, and am about to finish the Divergent Series. The movie Divergent is coming out this March I think. I think next on my cue is the Circle Series. I am then going to move on to reading all the Harry Potters and then probably move into Game of Thrones.

I don't think I have read Jeannette Walls, I'll have to check her out. I was reading about The Goldfinch last night, when I was trying to find my new book! It is on my list of books to read. @ Niccirf - I've heard nothing but good things about "Are you there Vodka"!

No I haven't. Thanks for the suggestion. I haven't really read in years. I've been on a hiatus since graduating from college. So I made a goal to read 2 books a month, this year. I will add that to the list.

I am trying to read The Slap but it's a huge book and it's taking forever. I just finished Bunheads before that which was good.

Sadly, I am too busy reading my students' essays to read any books for fun right now. I just wanted to chime in and say that Rebecca is one of my all-time favorite books. Did a research paper over it in high school, even. You'll love it!

If you are a Chelsea Handler fan (loved her books) you should check out Mindy Kaling's book, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me. She is the star of the Mondy Project on FOX and she has a similar type of humor to Chelsea Handler.

I'm on a VC Andrews kick at the moment. They're terrible but I can't stop reading them. Before that was Good Omens by Neil Gaiman, and Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini. I'm also half-reading something called The Salem Witch Society, which has a blurb that sounds a billion times better than the book actually is.

ETA: Oh, and A Trick of the Light by Louise Penny - it's book 7 in a series, but I didn't even realise until I finished the book!

Argh Stuck in the box! When I was younger, I wanted to read Rebecca because my mom had this hardcover collection of all these classics [Rebecca, Gone with the Wind, Dr. Zhivago, etc]. But maybe I was too young at the time. I can't believe it has taken me this long to read a book I have been wanting to read for so many years, so maybe I should just get it on my Nook tonight.

urbaneca - I saw the Flowers in the Attic movie on Lifetime and now I think I want to re-read those books lol.

My guilty pleasure in the reading world- Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress series. The final book just came out, and I already read it. I've several of the related short stories and four novels in the Night Huntress world.

I'm planning on rereading everything in chronological order, which right now, means short story 1, NH 1, short story 2, NH 2, NH 3, short story 3, NH 4, Related novel 1, Related novel 2, NH 5, short story 4, Related novel 3, NH 6 and then it gets tricky, because a scene each in Related novel 4 and NH 7 are the same, just from different perspectives of characters Cat (NH main character) and Leila (Related novel 3 and 4 female protagonist).

I think I will do RN 4 then NH 7, especially since RN 5 has yet to come out.

I tried John Le Carré while on holidays and couldn't get into his first book. I'm about half way through it and feel guilty about stopping it to start a new book, so I haven't read anything since Christmas. Reading the last Tom Clancy right before ruined it for me. I'm thinking I just need to re-read all Clancy novels to get it out of my system. I'm also planning on re-reading the Outlander series, but she keeps pushing back the new book, and I want to finish up the series in time for the new book

This is one of my favorite series. I reread about every other year because a new book will come out every year. I can't wait for the next book later this year. It is going to be the first one without the word lover in the title.

Awesome book suggestions! Well, my coworker gave me a flash drive with like thousands of books on it (they are his girlfriends), which I downloaded to my computer. When FI and I moved together in August, we transferred all my files onto a flash drive, and kept his computer since it was newer, and gave my computer to my parents. So I was under the impression that he had transferred my stuff over this whole time - and he never did! Now he can't find the flash drive, and all my documents are lost SMH. So of course, now I really want to read Rebecca b/c I am pretty sure it was on the books I had on the computer, and now I will have to probably bite the bullet and purchase it from the Nook Store. Argh!

I Capture the Castle is one of my favorites, and I haven't read it in quite a long time.

My other recommendation is the Maisie Dobbs series. Completely fantastic, "smart" fiction with lots of history and academic tidbits, strong female protagonist, and really good mystery story lines.

Oh! And if you like mysteries, you should read Ellis Peter's Cadfael Chronicles - about an English monk around 1140, who solves mysteries with his knowledge of herbs and human nature. Very cool.

I second Cutting for Stone. Good, almost great book. If you liked that @Niccirf, I would recommend Bel Canto by Ann Patchett. It's hauntingly beautiful. Also, Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro is one of my faves.
