Nope. If I were you, I might consider drinking now and not stopping...

Excellent!!  DH is going skiing this weekend and I need some entertainment!!  :)

Like I said in the Happy Friday thread, wine is a fruit and therefore part of a balanced breakfast - but I suspect I'm a couple of hours too late to help you.

    Why? WHY?

Although, I really do want to see how this plays out.

    It's 5:00 somewhere.

Oh man, good luck with Grannie Dearest!

Have fun. I'm sure you will be entertained.

Remember, It's always Five O'Clock Somewhere when it comes to drinking.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

I vote for having a mimosa before you go! ;)

Screw the mimosa & just wake up doing shots. If you survive this lunch, then surely you are well on your way to sainthood...

I would save yourself the headache and stay home! From the little I have read about her, she seems incredibly rude. I would avoid her.

I don't know how you can stand being around her. You must have far more patience than I do, because I'd be all

On-balance, I agree with you all. But this matters to DH -- matters a lot.

This grandmother, however terrible she is to me, rescued him from the hell of his parents. She stepped in and protected him, gave him a safe place to live, and defended him.

He has tremendous survivor's guilt because she did this for him and not for his two siblings.

It's a vicious cycle. He feels guilty because she 'saved' him but now she's mean and he doesn't like spending time with her, so he avoids seeing her, and then he feels guilty again because she's old and lonely so he sees her and then he remembers why she's old and lonely and miserable so he avoids her and the cycle just continues.

Meanwhile, we're at the bank while she cleans out her safety deposit box.

Ugh, that's an awful cycle to be caught up in. Maybe she'll go (more) senile and suddenly develop a nicer disposition?

I get him seeing her, but does that mean you have to?
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

Ah, I see. That's a little bit of a different situation. I hope you had access to lots of wine (or mimosas).
