Quick Question about my Save the Dates that I made

(a) Can you read them?
(b) Did you see the date? I'm worried that people won't see it and people in real-life knew what I was doing so I didn't get any objective opinions.

Thanks Ladies! :)

There's something about them that I don't care for.  I think it's partly the font and partly the layout with the wording on the right side.  It looks off balance.

ETA - I remembered you posted something a little while ago, so I went back to that.  I like that layout better.  The picture is at the top with the wording underneath.  Perhaps it would need to be worded differently, but I like that layout much better.
  • JoanE2012 So I made 8 different versions and this is the one that my family liked the best. His last name is long with some tall letters so it fills that space nicely.

So I guess I could have been more clear, whether you girls like them or not, we are using these ones because in reality it all comes down to taste and personality. Thanks for your input, but these are what we like and they are not offensive to anyone etiquette-wise, so I think I'm okay saying that it really is our opinion that matters on this.

I really mostly just wanted to know if you could read the date and the words, which is why I asked that question.

Yes, I can read them, but I think a non-script font might be a little easier on the eyes.

The date also looks really odd on the ball; the font is just oddly superimposed on top of the photo - maybe partly because it's a basic font paired with a script? Also, the "Save the Date" looks to be a different color font.

  • JoanE2012 Sorry if I was really grumpy in response. I'm a little cranky this morning. Some outside stuff going on and shouldn't have been so grumpy. I liked the other layout better too, but my FI cared more about this and liked this layout better, so I'm letting him win this one, especially since it really is trivial. The back has our pictures on it and I think that will be the side people will like.

PDKH I thought it looked odd on the ball too, maybe if I play with the other fonts, I can move the dates over there with the words.

  • It's ok @blueeyes90.  I think if you play around with the fonts, maybe even make the City/State a bit smaller too.  And as PDKH mentioned.....something's a bit off with the date on the ball.  I'd have it at least match the same font.  Good luck!  And don't get too hung up on them......this is just one small detail of your wedding that most people won't notice nearly as much as you do.  :D

@JoanE2012   @PDKH   Is this a little better?  There is a leaf behind the 2 I'm going to smooth out with grass, luckily that is really easy to do.

  • I like the new version better but can't you put 2014 on the same line? Get rid of "th" and it wouldn't go far past the city/state.
  • Is there a way to flip the picture so there is extra space on the left-hand side so you can put the wording there?  I think could help with the overall layout?  I also agree I like the newer version better.

Agree.  You can even just put 12/27/14.
  • Or I like the look of 12.27.14 instead of slashes. Periods or some kind of dot that floats halfway up almost like a hyphen. You could probably fit the full year if you like 12.27.2014
  • Now I'm over analyzing but I think I would like the date first before the city. It's a save the date so that should jump out first I think
  • Mitch617 We did that, FI liked it better.

Thanks everyone! We really appreciate it.  Thanks for helping us improve our STDs. :)

  • The last one is definitely easier to read! Nice improvements! :)
