Chit Chat

I don't want to be at work today.

I have a massive migraine, and it has been there since last night. I barely slept, I have no appetite, and I'm slightly nauseated from it all.

I can't go home because I've already taken waaaayyy too many sick days this past month and I'm a contractor who doesn't get paid sick days (and obviously, with the wedding coming up, all of the money we can get helps).

I'm thinking I may try to do the bare minimum and just take some online training modules or something so I can zone out.

On the plus side, at least I stopped spotting/bleeding from the EC they gave me for that drugging/possible assault last week? Small miracles.

  • sorry you're not feeling well. take it easy. i vote for the bare minimum.
  • I'm sorry! I also vote for doing the bare minimum. What time do you get out of work?

FI picks me up around 5 EST, so I have just over 6 hours to go. Joy.

  • Bare minimum, do wedding stuff, take a walk if you can.
  • My FI works Tuesday- Saturday so he usully goes in Mondays for overtime. This morning my alarm went off and he was stll there sleeping, I was so jealous that he decided not to go in for OT and I had to go in. I'm also itching to get out of here because it's snowing. That stinks that you don't get sick time, are you happy with your job or are you looking for something where you're not a contractor? Hope your migraine feels better.

I love my job, the company, and the work environment. I've been a contractor for close to 2 years now, which is unusual -- they usually hire on as a full-time employee by now, but we did some restructuring last year that delayed it a bit. I've been told that I'm next in line to be hired, but it's a matter of when senior management approves the budget for it.

My direct manager is incredibly displeased that it has taken this long, so at least I have an advocate on my side, but it's still frustrating at times. There's a chance that I could still be contract when we get married, in which case, the time I take off for the wedding and honeymoon will be unpaid.
