to let me know that if it snows this saturday, her boyfriend won't be coming to the wedding because he drives a snow plow for extra income. but he'll bring his car so if the snow starts late, he'll just leave early. but no worries, he'll definitely be at the rehearsal dinner.

HELLO have you ever heard of the concept of catering? i already provided the final number. i am really tired of people who don't honor their commitments.

I'm sorry, I don't understand why this is a problem. She is letting you know in advance that her boyfriend may not be able to make it. Frankly that seems pretty considerate to me.

I totally understand! I would be freaking out during wedding week too. But it's better to have one plate too many than not enough.

Take a deep breath, have your beverage of choice, and remember that in less than a week you'll be the Mrs of your very favorite Mr.

I get being annoyed but I think you're overacting. Likewise, if snow prevents some guests from attending you'll need to get over it too.

I know you are irritated, but stuff happens. That is his job, not much he can do. Honestly, you will probably have no-shows. It happens at almost every wedding, at least she is giving you a heads-up.

I work with peoples whose SOs do this for work, and they really are at the mercy of Mother Nature when it comes to their schedule. I personally couldn't be upset with someone who needs to make a living. At least your cousin isn't ditching the wedding because her BF may not be able to make it. One plate (hopefully) won't make a huge difference.

As he is the date of the cousin, yes. Just because he may miss part of the festivities doesn't mean he should be excluded, or that the cousin should be punished and have to come alone.

you wise ladies are right again. i am taking a deep breath and moving on. its snowing today, and forecast is calling for more snow on saturday so i'm slightly hyperventilating. but FI and I will be there so there will be a wedding, and of course, that's what matters.

You are one lucky bride if you DON'T get a last minute cancellation. We had 4 last minutes cancellations and 4 more who plainly no showed.

Sure it's annoying, but it comes with the territory when you host ANY event. This is not unique to weddings. Heck, I had 4 last minute cancellations just yesterday for the superbowl. Now I get to eat pot roast all week since I had already cooked enough food to include them.

@cruffino our wedding is in December and at first I was freaking out with the whole "what if it snows?" scenario. But, it's weather, I live in New England and it happens. You have the right attitude though, at the end of the day you're marrying your FI and that's what matters!

Take a deep breath and let it go. Maybe a little extra senstive since your friend and his partner just backed out also?

I mean this in the nicest way possible (really!) - at this point you are 6 days out. As long as FI and the officient show up you are golden. People backing out now is something you have no control over and you need to let it slide off your back. You can't change anything, you can't do anything about it - so do NOT put it on the list of things that stresses you out. You are in the home stretch - if you can't control it and it doesn't stop the wedding, let it go and eat a cookie. Or drink some wine. Or have some chocolate.

I swear, we have had 3 girls go down the aisle. I learned after the first one to let this stuff go and I felt SOOOO much better.

Exactly!!!! We're leaving for Negril the day after our wedding, so I'm excited for warm weather prior to Christmas!

Stuck in the stupid Box

This is exactly the right attitude. My cousin got married in a blizzard and all of the guests who were driving up day of didn't make it because they closed the highway. They still got married, everything was really nice, and we had to eat leftover cake for about a week (it was really awesome freaking cake). There are worse things. It's just a risk you run with winter weddings, but don't make it one more thing to worry about.

funny...i had a couple (and their 2 kids) no show to our superbowl dinner yesterday too.

Sure weddings are big events, but in the end they are just a party. If you go back and thing of all the events like B-day parties, grad parties, dinner parties, BBQ you planed you will find that people cancelled last minute at those also. Sure it sucks that the per person prices is generally more, but it's hardly unusual for last minute cancellations and no shows.

I'm sorry. I know it sucks. My brother works for the local highway department and plowing is part of his job. As soon as it starts snowing, he gets called out. It's unfortunate but he can't ever really fully commit to anything in the winter. That's the nature of the job.

lol I may have been your tacky cousin - BF makes great money when he plows, and since he's saving money for a house, he may have had to skip like your cousin's BF.

Unfortunately there are some jobs that require people to be on-call often. BF's been called out while we were at dinner. I've had uncle's called out on Christmas. At one point, we didn't see my dad on Thanksgiving because he was called out.

It sucks, but at least she's trying to give you a head's up instead of him not showing up!

At least take solace knowing that his (potential) absence would be for good reason-- he's keeping the roads safe! That's much better than him blowing you off without warning because he didn't feel like wearing pants that day.
