1. Snow day! I'm trying to be optimistic. I'm feeling a little better so pancakes for breakfast and popcorn and a movie after nap.

2. Our kitchen project has now grown to include a bathroom vanity. FIL mentioned it might be nice to match since the bath is on the same floor. DH has latched onto it and as long as I get an easier to clean faucet out of it I'm ok.

3. The Biggest Loser winner was scary skinny last night. I've never seen the bouncing numbers go into double digits. I hope they just overtrained to win.

Your FIL is teh ossum.

1. DH came home last night before it got really bad instead of staying down by work. I was so happy. He let me sleep in this morning and took DefConn to the sitter. He doesn't have to be in the office for his training until 10. He *might* stay down by work, but as long as it doesn't snow any more today, he'll come home.

2. We told our parents about the relocation offer. My mom is now calling me with all sorts of 'advice' (re: she's mom-ing me). It's couched in the phrase, "I'm not going to tell you what to do, but (insert where she tells me what to do)." She means well, but it's getting to the OMGSTAHP point.

3. In line with #2, DH has started updating his resume. DH has a friend who is a headhunter, I got him a referral to another one (friend of a friend), and he talked to another friend of ours last night about openings at his company. Hopefully with all these things, we'll have some options before his current company wants us to make a decision. I think we're both in, "We'll figure it out" mode, rather than the blind panic we felt over the weekend.

1. We have another snow day. Last week, people were bitching on the school district's FB page that they kept school open. Today they're bitching that they closed.

2. I did our taxes. I'm just waiting for Partner 2 to review them before we submit the efile. I was really surprised we got all our documents so early this year.

3. My sister is in town on business. She wanted to go to DD1's basketball practice last night. The coach forgot to call me to tell me it was canceled so after 10 minutes of no one showing up we decided to shoot around. I haven't touched a basketball since I was pregnant with DD1 and it was just like riding a bike. Aside from the obvious body difference, I was awesome. It felt good to know I've still got it, nearly 9 years after I stopped playing.

4. I joined a gym last month. I've been going for 3 weeks now and am feeling good. The 5:20 alarm in the morning is rough, but I'm doing it. I've only skipped 2 days and that was because I had early morning payroll for old company to work on (I have to get an early start on it, before the kids get up and need help getting ready).

@mrs.conn23 - I'm glad you feel like you have options. (FIL is awesome. He also suggested getting the frig I've been dreaming of for years. I told him no, but I think DH is calling to tell him yes)

@tawillers- people have been bitching about school closings/not closing too. Yay for taxes. We can't seem to figure out our withholdings to not get a refund. At least this year it will go to granite.

5. I was unreasonably excited to get an email from Carter's saying they now have sizes 7-12 in some things. I really like their clothes so I hope they eventually go to the bigger sizes in all of their departments. Andplusalso, a store is supposed to open in my city in the near future. The closest one is an hour away right now.

Also, I looked at the "Biggest Loser" thing, and wow, she's 105 pounds!!??! But really, are people that shocked? This is the whole point, and for a former athlete to overtrain to lose weight and then rewarded? HELLO!!?: This happens every day..."you look great" automatic thought: "I'd look even better if I lost more!". *sigh*

So much snow, but I'm glad I got my car back because it handles so much better in this stuff than my borrowed car.

-I was ready to light into H this morning while he was snuggled up in bed and asleep. I was dragging our garbage and recycling through the 4" of snow and thinking "holy crap, I am so over this!". I do so much stuff around the house and efficiently that he has no idea....maybe I should just boycott?

I agree about the biggest loser winner. 105. Wow! That's little, and it's not like she was 4'11. I doubt you can maintain 105 after the show.

My random. I have so many work vents that it would turn into 12 different posts. let's say that I play gospel music on Pandora, ALL DAY now. I used to throw in a bit of r&b and 80's pop. Not anymore.

Y'all, we're dealing with a new breed of kids, for reals.

mine:

i'm hoping today is better than i expect it to be. not only did we get snow, but freezing rain and hail.

i had a dream mrs.conn and i had a GTG to swap shoes. yes, in the dream we were trying on each other's shoes.

i am waiting for one small document before i can file. i'm getting VERY impatient and i can probably just use last year's numbers and file, but who needs that drama.

i also think i have bronchitis because i can't stop dry coughing. it's becoming as much of an inconvenience as the snow.

I'm really really tired of the snow. The roads were crap this morning and we have an warning on the wind chill tonight. I almost called in today, this weather is starting to really affect me.

The Nye/Ham debate last night was

. I really thought Ham was going to hand Nye his butt...that's not what happened at all. I was more happy to see 500+K people watching on Youtube. 10 years from now, I'm going to hear some kid talking about hearing/seeing this debate and how it started the earworm about, "This cannot be real". I really respected Bill Nye for 1: calling him out on assumption and theory definitions (and OMG the literal = natural almost made me head explode, thanks Ham) and 2: trying to empower people to find the answers themselves.

I had to call DH to make sure he was at work because he didn't text me when he got there. They closed down the highway that his plant is off of from a few exits north of his plant to one exit south. I was hoping he was not stuck in traffic because of the shut down.

Y'all, it's a combination of the age group and the level of total disrespect, and parents not knowing what to do.

There are some smart, funny, great kids out there, but there are also a lot of angry, dysfunctional, lost kids. It's hard to deal with it day after day, and wears you out.

I'm allergic to my wedding rings. My skin is more sensitive than ever after having DD and I thought I was allergic, but the blister on my ring finger confirms it. Beebee me wants to have DH buy me a new set in a different metal but that isn't going to happen. Maybe I'll see if I can just get a plain band to wear. First world problems.

you can probably bring your rings to the jeweler to have them plated, i think it works with white gold so you can plate it with rhodium.

I finally saw the last two episodes of AHS last night and was super happy with it.

DH and I got into a giant fight last night. Queue him sleeping on the couch and me getting up with the baby 3 times last night. Good times. I guess we're going through a rough patch :-/

I am so fucking sick of Chiberia. Roads were shit this morning, the train station lot wasn't plowed, train was 30 minutes late, barely any sidewalks downtown were shovelved which made for a fun mile walk.

Totally. Especially the 'parents not knowing what to do' part. I do not understand why this is so hard for parents of teenagers. Put the effing fear of God into the kids. The kiddo can have a smart mouth, but I know that deep down he is too terrified of consequences and/or our reaction to pull some real bullshit...yet. We'll see what happens down the line, but hopefully it will hold somewhat through his teen years.

One more thing.

Y'all don't want to get me started. I met with a mom because her son is failing four classes. Why did I have to tell her to take his phone until his grades improve? This isn't brain surgery. The next day I see the kid and he has his phone, and says that his mom decided to give him another chance.

Really? So, you just wasted 20 minutes of my time. smh

The parents that know their kid has a drug problem and believes the kid when they say the're going to stop. He can't stop without help. Really?

I would be rich if I had a $1 for every time a parent says, "I don't understand, because I give him whatever he wants." Really? How's that working for you? You give her whatever she wants and she's failing every class, and smokes more weed than Cheech and Chong. Since when do you start rewarding bad behavior?

Who is the parent? Cell phone, name brand clothes and $30 a week is not listed as a birthright. Food, clothes, a bed, and shelter are the only things that are required that you provide to your child. If they choose not to follow the rules, and expectations then you have to go back to the basics. Food, clothes, a bed and shelter.

Shit, I threaten to confiscate my kid's phone if he won't change his brother's diaper or fold laundry when I ask him to. It's all it takes for him to bend to my will and do what he's told. The phone is a damn tool, USE IT.

Ugh, nola. I'm sorry you have to see this every day. That would be incredibly difficult.

I know things like this go on in school and Son sees a lot of it. The kid comes home and TALKS TO US. He wants to know what we think. It's like we're seeing the payoff of what kind of relationship we have with him and how we parented him up to this point. I know that's totally AWy, but it's really nice to have these realizations from time to time.

Don't get me wrong, he's still a pre-teen and has his moments, but I'll take him spilling my Scentsy (and not telling me and half-assing the cleanup) over any of the issues going on at school any day.

Exactly, Taw. The kiddo's misbehavoir/transgressions are small potatoes compared to what some other kids are up to. He's always talking to us about what's going on at school and some of it is downright scary. He's luckily fallen into a good group of kids that are smart and driven to do well.

Thankfully it fell onto smooth surfaces that it didn't ruin and we didn't need the iron. And I did make him clean it up the next morning, though I had to get all the wax out of a corner.

Taw, you have to talk to them because they do see stuff. I don't want y'all to think that every kid hits the teen years and lose their minds, because they don't. But, you have to start laying down the foundation and putting in the work for how you want things to be when they do get older.

Most parents have the love thing down. They love their kids, but do your kids respect you, do they listen to you, do they know how far they can push you. If they are five and six and don't listen to a word you say, then you will have a problem. I can put money on it.

A lot of parents don't have high expectations when it comes to school. Doing well in school is non-negotiable. Yes, every kid is not going to make all A's and that's find, but you will be educated and you will not bring home failing grades. If your kid is going to summer school EVERY summer, there is a problem.
