Good Morning. Happy Friday

I haven't had a good night's sleep in a few days now.    My brain just doesn't shut off with the move and such.  I put a deposit down on a mover yesterday and now regretting my choice. I've already sent an email canceling the reservation and should get my deposit back, but my gut says it's going to be a hassle.     Now I'm on the hunt for another mover.  Which isn't easy because it's the move date is so close.    Oh the stress.

Oh and a-hole "manager"/"accountant" has messed up my pay 2 weeks in a row.   In a nutshell, I work for 2 properties.  We get paid weekly.  I submit my hours and they divide them in half and I get 2 paychecks (one from each).   Last week and this week I've only been paid from one of the properties.  GRRR.

Good news though.  We got a new car.  Woohoo.  Had to trade in the rear-wheel drive truck with a 4wd Pathfinder.    I love the new car. It's going to be really comfy doing a cross-country trip.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.    Mine will be spent purging and running to drop off stuff at charity.  Ummm... maybe I will pick the farthest place to dropoff so I can drive the new car longer?

  • Morning!

Sorry to hear about the stress/sleep issues. But congrats on the move!. I second spending the day in the new car.

I've only been at work for 30 minutes and already I've had to sanitize my area twice due to suspected pink eye. I fully expect this to be an indicator for how the rest of the patients will be.

  • When we were moving, I didn't sleep at all. Since I was moving out of my parents' place and moving so far, I was just constantly worried/ nervous/excited! We used a UHaul truck to move. But anyway yay new car! Definitely pick the further drop off location...you gotta test it out, right?

That sucks.  I guess that kind of stuff goes in cycles right?

DH is nervous about the new job (as most people are), so I've taken on the stress of the actual move.   It's my "role" so to speak.   This week it's  "what can I purge"?  Which is funny because last year we moved I did the same thing.   This time I'm looking a few things and thinking "why did I think I needed to keep this last year?  It's still in a box".

Then we will be in temp housing for up to 2 months.   Ugh, what to pack with the movers, what to bring in the car?

Oh the joys of moving.    At least I had good teachers.  My parents have moved 32 times including 3 countries and 11 (of which 4 they moved to more than once)

That sound's like my FI when we moved earlier this year. Anything in boxes went. What do you know about the temp housing so far? Like space wize. Smaller then your current placed?

Not a clue.  I'm assuming it's a 1 bedroom of some sort (furnished). Everything the movers take will go into storage for 2 months.

  • good luck with the move!  We just moved our business and into a house all last month--ours was just an in town move though so I could not fathom a cross country move and the stress it could entail.  We are still moving stuff in at home and at work.  When is your actual moving day? when does H start his new job?

  • Movers come Feb 20.  He starts the 24.   2 days to get there in good weather, sadly this year has been anything but good, so we will see how long it takes to get there.
