Just saw on WB a post essentially saying Kim Kardashian dicated attire...therefore speshul snowflake can too!
If you're taking etiquette hints from the Kardashians, I want to be invited to your wedding just to watch the shit show...

(and no, I won't follow your attire 'suggestion')

  • Yeah and look what happened to that marriage.  I know that Kim Kardashian dictating attire had nothing to do with her 78 day marriage fail but do you really want to emulate a person whose marriage was a complete shit storm?  And whose wedding was only the way it was to show off for the cameras?

I think she was married 72 days. At any rate, NOBODY should be taking any sort of martial clues from the Kardashians.

  • Dont forget she got peed on too! Nothings says class like Golden showers. They are Gold after all!!
  • They should change the name of the show to "keep away from the kardashians"

Puts a whole new spin on 'gold digger' doesn't it?

    No, in her porn video.

ETA:  But the ratings would have been through the roof if her then husband had peed on her at their wedding.
After the fact, he probably wished he had!

  • I'm pretty sure Sean Parker is the guy that started the Napster music-sharing sites. He also had some hand in Facebook's early days of creation and its going mainstream.

I guess if you've got the money to provide costumes for your wedding guests, that's no longer an "etiquette" issue...it's more of a "i'm throwing a costume party that all you have to do is show up and wear what was made for you" situation. Which, if you're Sean Parker, isn't really a budget issue.

The Kardashians and all references to them could be wiped off the planet and I wouldn't miss them at all. They serve absolutely no purpose except to give bad ideas to the unsuspecting, misinformed public.

  • Hahahahaha!
  • I just read on a UK news site the Kanye is having crowns commissioned for their upcoming nuptials.

They are like poster children for narcissism.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Cannot believe such a catty and rude thread is on the etiquette forum. Since when is picking on people for no reason fun?
  • Wasn't there that one celeb who had a Lord of the Rings/Middle Earth themed wedding and had themed clothes made for all the guests?

I just googled it, it was Sean Parker.  Apparently he's some uber-rich social media guy.  He had Middle Earth clothing made for over 300 guests!

In that case, I think it's ok to dictate attire - if you buy said attire for the guests. Or am I the only one who wants a Middle Earth costume?
His wedding also caused some serious ecological damage to his venue. He ended up with a HUGE fine. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/06/04/sean-parker-wedding_n_3384555.html

I basically want to do the exact opposite of what Kim Kardashian does in any given situation.
That's basically my motto in life

While I am generally very nice and don't like to talk bad about people, I just don't think anyone can defend her marriage habits.

When you choose to live your entire life in front of a camera you set yourself up for criticism.   I for one would be happy if they crawled into a hole never to be seen again.
tx91 I think the Kardashians, Hilton Sisters, Miley, Beiber, set themselves up for ridicule when they makes stupid life choices, or make these awful faux pas and pass them as not only "normal" but to be expected and celebrated! And then you have all these people who may be a part of your life trying to emulate them! It's flat out obnoxious! The Kardashians are obnoxious!

When people start claiming the Kardashian's are the new authority on etiquette matters.
