Re: Saturday Night Plans?

  • I am Knotting and watching my FI play Lightning Returns, FF XIII. Just relaxing :)

  • We are monitoring our sick cat.  He's getting better, but every time he eats, walks across the room, or so much as licks himself, both of us are like YEAH JACK!!!

I'm destroying food delivery guys (bitch power), doing a ton of laundry, and Knotting.

  • Watching the Olympics, playing on computer, and listening to FI bitch about having to put together the new bookshelf we had to buy after he broke our other one.

I'm sorry about your cat! My dog just tore her ACL :( I hate seeing animals sick or hurt. My FI is going to be a veterinarian and adores animals as much as I do.

  • I just worked out, so I feel productive. Now I'm cleaning up and packing to go to FMIL's tomorrow.

Oooooooh and I get to go pick my FI up from work in this snowy mess. That will be exiting.

  • @blueeyes90 Aw, your poor dog!  How the heck did he do that?  I love animals and seeing any animal in pain or distress just breaks my heart.  Fi and I don't have any kids, and the way we were both losing our shit over a sick cat, we have realized we might be neurotic parents if we aren't careful.

@JCBride2014 No clue. My mom took her out to go piddle and then when she came inside she walked to the laundry room and cam out limping. :( Sad. She is 14 and has some heart problems so the Vet recommended waiting before deciding whether to do surgery.

If it makes you feel better, my parents are completely neurotic about their animals but not their kids. :) We are the same about out pets. It is something to do with how they can't communicate as well and they seem so helpless. (when hurt/sick)

Thanks! If the roads seen really iffy, I'm just going to call him to tell him to sleep at work. His car is better in the snow because it is AWD; although I have lived in the northeast my entire life without an AWD car, so I shouldn't be so dramatic.

  • If you're looking at photographers, I would love it if you took a look at my friend, Tom Sapp. He's been doing wedding photography for over a decade and I've known him for about that long as well. He's super talented and a really great professional to know. Feel free to let me know what you think! :)

    @KnotPorscha vendor.

And really, of all threads?  Saturday Night Plans, you want to hawk a photographer??  Next.

Yeah, at least advertise for a wine of the month club; that may be much more better suited for this thread.

FFIL's dog tore ACLs on both her rear legs. First one, he has no idea how she did it. The second one was due to her being overly active after surgery to repair the first torn ACL. It's been a couple of years now, and she's fully healed. The surgery only had a 20% success rate because of her size and age, but she got really lucky. But it was so sad watching her limp around while she was healing. :(

I made dinner tonight (chicken with snowpeas) and we've been watching Big Bang Theory reruns while I post away on here and chat with my friend about the shitshow that is her BIL's engagement.

  • I made dinner, DH cleaned up the kitchen. I balanced the checkbook, dealt with some correspondence (mailed a check to my crack dealer...I mean...supplier of girl scout cookies; mailed an interesting article to my mother), sorted through the bills and mail pile-up, did other miscellaneous house-keeping kind of things, am currently doing a bazillion (OK, not really, but it feels like it!!) loads of laundry, and am now prepping for religious ed class tomorrow. While I drink wine and Knot!

DH finally listened to his eleventy-bazillion v-mails from his father and aunt re crazy granny. Apparently, she's trying to pretend that she 'had an event' and that's what 'made her say those things' and she 'didn't mean them.'

I'm like, 'Yeah, whatever. My grandmother had Alzheimer's and the worst thing she said to people was, 'Wow, that dress makes you look fat!' The only 'event' she had was 'brain-to-mouth filter failure, and that's not a disease.'

DH called his aunt back and said, 'In that case, I'll meet with you Monday to discuss putting her in a home. If she's having 'events', clearly she can't live alone any longer, and as POA, it's your and my job to take care of her. Please pass along that message to her and ask if she has a preference for if it's affiliated with her church or not.'

Auntie apparently backpedaled at that, and DH said, 'Either she's having events and needs to be put in a home, or she's lying. Take your pick. Goodbye.' And hung up.

I think I need more wine.

  • @Cookie Oh, poor puppy! I'm not home, but my mom has been sending videos and my poor puppy is limping and they have to kennel her when she gets excited! She whines and we feel so bad for her.

I love Big Bang Theory! My FI can quote pretty much any episode, but I have to say (don't hate me) that I really have not liked Penny's character lately. :(  I think they have made her almost mean, but maybe I'm just grumpy.

I would love to send you wine. Though I'm just drinking some cheap stuff from Trader Joes. I'm sorry you are still dealing with BSC granny. I've enjoyed reading your drama, but I'm so sorry that you have to deal with it. Though your guy is awesome.

  • @blueeyes90 -- Thanks! I'm (mostly) removed from it (his aunt and father and grandmother don't have my phone number for a very good reason), but it hurts like hell to watch him have to deal with it, and not really be able to help.

I admire him, though, for calling his aunt's bluff on the 'memory event.' That was awesome!

We'll get through this. We will. It'll all be OK eventually.

That is what I said. Lol. So I turned off Olympics and am now watching something on Pompeii. I think all the people who talk about how preoccupied our society is with sex need to watch and/or read up on Rome. We're almost Victorian compared to the ancient Romans.

Are you guys going to get the surgery done for your dog or just wait for it to heal on its own? The surgery was sooooo expensive, but FFIL felt it was the right thing to do to give his dog a chance at continuing her active lifestyle (she's a 13 year old puppy!). It took her quite a while to recover, but you'd never know she'd ever hurt herself now.

I also think Penny's character has been not as awesome this season. I've been loving the evolution of Raj's character over the years, though. And I think, despite all the homo-erotic elements in his relationship with Howard, that he is absolutely adorable!

@HisGirlFriday13, I LOVE your husband's response to his aunt! I sort of want to send you guys ICB cupcakes for not only being such a great couple but for all the entertaining BSCG stories I've gotten to read!

I've been to Pompeii.   They have a brothel with pictures of sexual positions that was basically a menu. You went in and pointed what services you wanted.

I just picked DH up form work. Now just watching the Olympics.   I just realized this time next week I will be on Mountain time. It will be strange being 2 hours behind the core posting time.

Also realized that football games will start at 11am, however that also means no more mid-night ending Sunday and Monday night football games.

  • @blueeyes90 and @CookiePusher -- I'm glad I'm not the only one! I think Penny's character has evolved to be really bitchy and mean this season. It's like she's lording over Leonard how hot she is and how lucky he is she's with him.

Uhm....her character is a now-unemployed former waitress who wants to be an actress. That's not really a 'catch,' kwim?

I love the Shamy character line, but I hate Mayim Bialik's off-camera personality. I used to read her blog, and she is a pretentious twat. So now I just watch the show and try not to think about how bitchy she seems.

I love the evolution of Raj's character, too, though!

  • @Cookie We are waiting right now. She has a heart problem so the vet said it would be more risky. She is also 14, so those two things aren't really in her favor as far as surgery is concerned.

@lyndausvi I'm so jealous! I've been to Rome but I would love to go to Pompeii. @hisgirlfriday @blueeyes90 and @cookiepusher I can't stand Penny anymore. She used to be cute but now she is obnoxious and mean. I love Amy and Sheldon though. They are cute. ETA: sorry it never shows the paragraphs.n
  • Add me to the not liking the Penny being a bitch story line.

  • @HisGirlFriday  I'm thrilled that someone agrees with me about Penny! No one here does. And I love Raj too!   I love love love the the V-Day episode.

I don't really pay attention to actors off-screen very often, so I didn't know that about Mayim Bialik.
