honeymoon :)

Re: honeymoon :)

  • @jdluvr06 Machu Picchu is one of FI's bucket list trips.

We looked at many options and ended up settling on someplace closer to home (as in, in the continental US).  Part of the decision was time, and how much of it we want to spend getting to our destination.  Unfortunately, another part of the decision had to do with my fear of getting a bad migraine.  If I were to get a full blown migraine, where I can't stop throwing up, it always ends in a trip to the ER.  I was nervous about what might happen in a country where FI does not speak the language and can't advocate for me when I am basically unable to communicate.  Currently, I am on a preventative medicine regimen to prevent chronic migraines, and it is helping, but I am still not ready to roll the dice with international travel to a region where English is not a primary language.

Having said all that, we are THRILLED with our honeymoon plans for Seattle and Vancouver: Jacuzzi suite, Space Needle, and drive into the mountains to take some photos from iconic scenes from Twin Peaks in Seattle, Harbor View suite, sunset harbor cruise, Forbidden Vancouver tour, Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Chinese Garden, and Capillano Suspension Bridge Park in Vancouver.  I get giddy every time we talk about it.

  • We're doing a week in Paris followed by a week cruise in the Western Caribbean. I've been to almost all of the stops, but it will be FI's first time going abroad. I used to live in Paris, so it will be a treat to show hubby around :) It's been years since I've been in Europe so I'm really looking forward to it - like my second home!

We are doing 5 nights in Punta Cana!! Just waiting for March 2015 airfare to go on sale so we can book. So excited!
I wouldn't book airfare as soon as it is available, the best prices are usually 3-4 months out.

  • We are going to Ireland for 15 days or so.  I am super excited :-)

Our reception is being held in a restored mansion that is a Bed and Breakfast, so there is a bridal suite and FI and I will be staying there on the night of the wedding and the night before.  Hopefully I won't be exhausted and will be able to dance and party with my guests for a while!

  • The night of our wedding we'll take our limo back to our house after the receptiom, have some sexytime and sleep. The next day we'll run some errands and probably catch a late brunch with our OOT guests. We are going to a cabin about 2 hours away from our house for the rest of the week and just relax/hottub/hike. That's in May, in January were going on a bigger resort honeyumoon somewhere tropical :)

Of course! Do you want any others? I make 30+ different kinds...

  • We went to Hawaii (Kauai) for honeymoon but it was 3 months after the wedding.

Our wedding was somewhat DW (1.5 hours from home and majority of our guests traveled too) so we stayed at the resort hotel down the street from our venue.  We mainly chose to stay there so I would have a big suite for the girls to get ready in day of and normally we would have never spent that much on a hotel room, so we splurged for the wedding.  Looking back it was over priced, but it was a beautiful hotel and nice suite so no regrets really.   We had a block of rooms for guests which a few stayed there as well but most stayed at the other hotel (residence inn).  Day after wedding we moved over to the residence in so we were closer to family staying the weekend, and then the next day we took off to reno for a little mini moon for 2 days before having to go back to work.   In reno we just booked a regular room but they found out it was our "mini moon" and upgraded us to a nice suite for free which was super cool.  We did not get to enjoy much of our suite on the wedding day since it was such a busy day so I was super happy to actually get to use the nice spa tub, etc!
