I am wearing this dress to FSIL's evening wedding. Her invites were a little more plain, but same level of formality. The dress looks a bit more formal in person than in the pic, tho.
@blergbot - I love that dress!?  Is it a recent purchase?  Mind if I ask where you got it from/what size you are?  I'm a 12 and think it would work great for FI's sisters wedding.
  • Pretty much the same as I do for any wedding. I'm a big fan of renting dresses from rent the runway. Like others said, a cocktail dress with my hair and makeup did.

Yes, I just got it. I'm also a 12 and it fit me and my huge DDD chest perfectly. They don't have it anymore where I got it, but it's available on zappos.com and at Belks. It's the Jessica Simpson Collection--who I'm not a fan of, but she does make nice clothes for ladies with a big rack!
  • @blergbot - just bought it!   Thanks for putting that out there - I love it!
  • @LakeR2014 That's awesome! Glad I could help :)
  • I'd wear a nice cocktail dress and he'd wear his black suit.

I agree, the flower motif is making it less than uber formal, and in my experience/circle, if an RSVP doesn't a meal selection, it's indicative of a buffet (which is less formal than a plated meal).

I'd expect it to be very nice, but to the fanciest wedding ever.
Not necessarily. I went to a wedding that didn't have a meal selection, and I like you assumed it was buffet or stations. It was actually tableside ordering, which is more fancy than plated. So you never know.

  • Thanks @laurynm84. We are actually having a carving station and chef performance stations. So while it's not black tie, I'd had hoped this was considered much fancier than a buffet. There are several (5 actually) meal options.
