Our venue does not allow any food items (including candy, nuts, etc.) to be brought into the venue. This includes items for favors. Before I discovered this rule I had intended to do either candy or cookies as favors but now I clearly cannot. Should I try to think of a non-food item to give away as a favor or should I just skip favors all together. I'm very torn!
Re: Not Allowed to have Edible Favors
I also got measuring spoons at a wedding once. Pretty sure they didn't even make it into the car on the way home.
Picture Frames - your taste probably isn't the same as most of your guests'
Silly String - really?
Bottle Opener - most people who will use one, probably own one
Plane Kit - kind of cute, but sounds like a waste of money
Heart Measuring Spoons - as someone who loves to bake, I'd never use these because the heart shape won't fit into many spice jars and if they aren't labeled with a real measurement (like 1 tsp), they're completely useless
They don't allow any food at all (even if it isn't to be consumed there). I really would love to include favors but also would hate to see all that money go to waste if the guests don't enjoy them....which sounds like would be the case for many people if the item wasn't food related. Personally I like the candle idea because I'm a candle lover myself. I just wonder how many people would actually use/like them? I had also thought about cookie cutters in the shape of something special to my fiancé and I but have a feeling those would be used even less.
Just skip the favors. No one will miss them.

Are drinkable favours out of the question? If not, you could do little bottles of wine, champagne, water, or whatever you want http://www.beau-coup.com/mini-champagne-bubble-favors.htm
What about things like olive oil that are edible but no one is going to sit there and eat it by itself?
Thanks guys this makes my decision a lot easier!
