Also, Wicked was Wicked Awesome… I got to see it for the first time with the Ahmazing @csousa1 when we were in NYC to see @Swazzle. I love love LOVE it!

    YES. Can we go back?
  • @BriSox81- I just started singing "50 Nifty" in my head haha! We learned that song in 5th grade too.

1.)  Who was your favorite artist in middle school?
I honestly don't remember. I was in middle school a LONG time ago. Garth Brooks, perhaps?

2.)  Who was your favorite artist in high school?
I had - and still have - very eclectic tastes. Dave Matthews Band was definitely up there, as was Jay-Z, Alanis Morrissette, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, NIN... you name it, I probably went through a phase of it.

3.)  What is "your song" with your SO?
We don't have one. I adore "Snow Outside" by DMB though - if I had to choose, that would be it.

4.)  Which instruments can you play, if any?  Voice counts, obviously :)
None. And no one wants to hear my voice.

5.)  If you had to listen to one song forever, what song would drive you nuts?
Probably any song that I'd have to listen to forever. <-- I'm just leaving @swazzle's response, because I agree with that.

6.)  Do you think the Biebs should stay in Canada?
I think anywhere without cameras/paparazzi would be a good start.

7.)  Tell me a good musical story (I substituted middle schoolers yesterday, so "musical" basically means "farts" currently...lame)
I can still sing "50 Nifty" and the Maine Counties song from 5th grade chorus.
If your voice is as good as your handstands I want to hear it!

  • @BriSox81 - I still sing 50 Nifty to the girls all the time. They're amazed that I know ALL of the states, and in alphabetical order too :-)

    @Csousa1 - YES! Please! Best.Play.EVAR.

  • @BriSox81 are you a handstands master like my sister?  I swear she just sits around in a handstand...constantly.  The benefits of having a yogi as a sister haha  Either that or swazzle is being sarcastic, but I'm going with serious!
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton
  • 1.)  Who was your favorite artist in middle school?
    Probably Britney Spears and NSync

2.)  Who was your favorite artist in high school?
I was mildly obsessed with The Killers and Rooney

3.)  What is "your song" with your SO?
"Your Hand in Mine" by Explosions in the Sky. We both loved it even before watching the Friday Night Lights series, and even more after watching it. I had it on a CD and FI played it in the car on the way home from the movies right before he proposed. It's an instrumental and is SO pretty and I'd like to figure out a way to incorporate it into our wedding ceremony.

4.)  Which instruments can you play, if any?  Voice counts, obviously :)
    I have zero musical ability

5.)  If you had to listen to one song forever, what song would drive you nuts?
Probably any song that I'd have to listen to forever.
I think someone said this already and I totally agree - anything by Bruno Mars.

6.)  Do you think the Biebs should stay in Canada?
    Absolutely

7.)  Tell me a good musical story (I substituted middle schoolers yesterday, so "musical" basically means "farts" currently...lame)
    I can't think of any!

    BAAAAAAAAAAHAHHAAH. That was SERIOUS sarcasm.

My handstands look like I'm sitting in a chair. Upside down. With @buddysmom80 holding my feet.

I blame my lack of coordination + alcohol + @swazzle, @csousa1, and @buddysmom80 for aaaallll of that.

  • 1. Favorite middle school band:
I was in 6th grade when nsync started fading out. I was also incredibly sheltered, so I listened to a lot I oldies and radio Disney. George strait was probably my favorite.

    2. I got hooked on Avril Levine for a while my sophomore year of high school. Junior and senior years were dominated my justin timberlake and idina menzel in rent and wicked.

    3. Our song is "Down" by jay Sean. When I was still crazy shy of H, I posted those lyrics as my Facebook post and he liked it. It was our first interaction and it gave me the balls to message him. He, of course, doesn't remember this but things it's adorable.

    4. I still play the flute and piccolo. I usually play in our church orchestra if I have time. I also play the handbells. In high school, I played an entire octave all on my own. I was a bad ass. My kids told me this weekend they love my singing voice. I think they were just being kind.

    5. I would kill anyone if I had to listen to blurred lines or Toby Keith's courtesy of the red, white, and blue.

    6. I have no opinion on the biebster.

    7. Since @csous1 took mine, at our wedding, I got to rap "ice ice baby".

1.)  Who was your favorite artist in middle school?

4.)  Which instruments can you play, if any?  Voice counts, obviously :)

    1) The Violent Femmes

    2) Bob Dylan and Save Ferris

    3) We don't have one.

    4) I sing and play piano.

    5) Every song ever written has the potential to drive me nuts if played on repeat.

    6) He's gonna cause trouble no matter where he is. He needs to suffer real concequences and punishments just like any trouble causing teenager. Unfortunately, enough of this did not occur at a critical age. I actually had a FB post regarding just this type of thing, the other day. Not Beibs related, but it does apply.

    7) I don't know if you would qualify these as 'good' stories. For me, music has the power to move through a body of people, conjuring emotions you didn't know were there. Sometimes intesifying what you were already feeling, other times healing the hurt. I'm big on music. Anyhow, I have a few very near and dear moments with music. The two that stand out the most were singing Danny Boy at my grandfather's grave while my father gently picked on the guitar. He sobbed the whole way through. Somehow I managed to get to the last word or two before I lost it. Another was tragic, and yet such a beautiful moment. I was asked to prepare and perform the music for a funeral mass of an entire family of 6 (3 adults, 3 small children) that perished in a Christmas Eve fire. It was sureal standing in front of 6 caskets all lined up in front of the altar, and singing the Ave Maria in front of thousands of people and news cameras. Again, I somehow mustered the strength to maintain my composure through the whole piece.

  • @beanbot2002 music has always been that way for me too.  I used to play flute at church and would have random parishioners come up after mass telling me how beautiful it was - kinda awkward when you're a teenager, but awesome too.

2.)  Who was your favorite artist in high school?
I was in to hip hop so TuPac, Biggie, Bone Thugs

3.)  What is "your song" with your SO?
We never really had a song but we danced to George Strait "Give it all we got tonight"

4.)  Which instruments can you play, if any?  Voice counts, obviously :)
I played the violin for a while

5.)  If you had to listen to one song forever, what song would drive you nuts?
Way too many to name but I'm not a Phil Collins fan so anything by him.

6.)  Do you think the Biebs should stay in Canada?
    Yes

  • @beanbot2002 how beautiful that you were able to be a part of that grief process for so many.

I still remember the music the men's chorus sang at my dad's funeral. It was beautiful. I go to their practice regularly and constantly hear my dad through their voices.

  • @audrewuh I used to be the 'official' wedding and funeral soloist at my church when I was younger. I loved being there in times of joy, but even more so in those times of grief. I can only hope that I was able to offer some measure of peace, even if tiny and just for a moment.

@Blue I really liked Mama Mia, too! I haven't seen Rent. The last show I went to was Avenue Q which was really hysterical.

We saw Avenue Q on our honeymoon. H was crying he was laughing so hard.

I had a chance to go see it in college, but I was such a prude at the time I was horrified to think if seeing puppet sex or listening to songs about porn. Oh how I've grown.

  • I'm off to band in a bit :)  So here are some questions of a musical nature:

1.)  Who was your favorite artist in middle school?
2.)  Who was your favorite artist in high school?
3.)  What is "your song" with your SO?
4.)  Which instruments can you play, if any?  Voice counts, obviously :)
5.)  If you had to listen to one song forever, what song would drive you nuts?
6.)  Do you think the Biebs should stay in Canada?
7.)  Tell me a good musical story (I substituted middle schoolers yesterday, so "musical" basically means "farts" currently...lame)
Since I figured out my correct TK identity, I figured I should play:)

    1. I'm guessing it was probably Guns 'n' Roses or Nirvana.  I went through a metal phase.

    2. Dave Mattthews. I can play a mean air fiddle.

    3. Not sure we have one, but our first dance was to "I Want to Grow Old with You" from the wedding singer.  It's so stinking appropriate for H.

    4. I played the French Horn for 3 years.  That thing was a beast to lug home, and ultimately why I quit.

    5. Friday by Rebecca Black

    6. I like everyone I know from Canada.  They don't deserve that.  I say we ship him to Syria and he can learn what true conflict is.

7.i danced competitively in JH and HS.  The studio owner has a love of MJ.  One year I had the privilege of dancing to a MJ medley.  The bad: it opened with the "Free Willy" song.  Weirdest recital song and dance ever.  Thriller and Free Willy should never be mixed.

  • 1.)  Who was your favorite artist in middle school?
I was really into NSYNC, I believe, though that might have been more elementary school.

2.)  Who was your favorite artist in high school?
I honestly don't even really remember. I don't think I listened to a lot of music at that time, so there's no telling. Probably just whatever was popular at the time. (Lame, I know.)

3.)  What is "your song" with your SO?
We don't have a mutual song, but we each have a song that reminds us of the other. I don't remember right off-hand what his is for me (something from Reliant K, I'm sure), but "Is It Love" by iio always reminds me of him.

4.)  Which instruments can you play, if any?
I've played several instruments in my lifetime, but never really mastered any. I took piano lessons, guitar lessons, played clarinet and saxophone in the band, and snare drum on the drumline, but I was mediocre at just about everything.

5.)  If you had to listen to one song forever, what song would drive you nuts?
    "Blurred Lines".... ugh.

6.)  Do you think the Biebs should stay in Canada?
That depends... are we still going to have to hear about him in the states?

7.)  Tell me a good musical story.
Before me and FI started dating, I had just started going to a new church (where he was a member of the Praise Band) and one night after service, a group of us "youthy"-type went to Wendy's to eat. FI and another guy started playing on their guitars out in the parking lot, and we all ended up going BACK to the church to hang out and play music. We stayed there until about midnight, lol.

No anything out of the ordinary, but I always use to think about how head over heels I was for him at that point. XD
