My wife and I did a week in Antigua at Sandals in June and while Sandals was awesome, I'd go to St Lucia if I had the option to do it over again. I have a detailed review at:
Antigua's airport can make your first and last day really unenjoyable. Horribly long customs lines in a barely airconditioned section of the airport. Make sure to bring cash because that will be your only way to leave the place, Antigua has a $70 per person exit tax. And don't even think about not having exact change, they will tell you they don't give change even if you can see the necessary bills sitting on the desk in front of the cashier.
The island itself is pretty but not St Lucia pretty. If you don't plan to go explore on your own, this may not matter to you. We rented a car and drove all around the place (about $70 for 24 hours).
Antigua's people, excluding the airport staff, were really great. They were nice everywhere we went.
If you plan to do snorkeling at Sandals Antigua, do it before your last full day; if there's a strong wind it will stir up the currents and you won't get to go to the normal snorkel location; the backup location is not worth getting in the water for.
Sandals butler suites are insane; we got food and drinks wherever we wanted whenever we wanted.

<div>That's wrong, it's $28 US dollars. It's $70 Eastern Caribbean dollars. Lots of islands have this tax.</div><div> </div>
I've been to over 10 islands in the Caribbean (not Antigua) and I have never had to pay any fees/taxes to exit. I don't have any island ties (that I know of) because I was borh and raised in California all my life. That sounds like a hustle is you ask me.
