@phira No joke, FI complained about it every time the wedding came up in conversation for months. And that wedding has come up multiple times in our planning as a "what not to do" example. They needed groomsmen there at 9 am (not fun for those of us who couldn't afford to stay at the posh hotel they booked so had to drive an hour to get there), and kept them for photos until 3 when they were driven to the church - and there was no food provided or even time to GET food on their own. Then after the ceremony, they whisked the WP away for MORE pictures and no food. The couple also had a 2 hour gap (church and reception were 10 minutes apart) where the venue would not let guests in until the start time. Thank goodness I had a bottle of Jack Daniels. Poor FI ate breakfast at 7:30am and didn't get food or even water again until the reception started at 6pm!
For some reason, I was very much against a "first look" because it would ruin the first time he saw me coming down the aisle, etc. I was also "against" a morning wedding & morning reception because that just isn't the norm around here.
But when I actually thought about it, I realized that I LOVED these ideas, and they make so much sense. I know you probably won't change your mind about your First Look, because it is hard to let go of those things that we believe "just because" or because "its tradition!" but maybe read the article and give it a chance??
Just read it to him...you're a genius..first look it is at the bridge

Wedding at 4, reception at 5!
Stupid dust making me cry.
OP I am so glad you found a way to get your location and not have to inconvenience your guests with a 2 hour gap.

Thanks Ladies...I read the article to him and showed him the pictures. His eyes got watery and he said, 'I didn't get it before...but I want this. It's so much more personal, so intimate. Like it's just us'.
WAHOO!!!
I'm sorry for being such a stick in the mud but I was frustrated
