First dress fitting done

I had my first dress fitting tonight.

It was a little tighter than I remember but still fit good.I got it all measured to be hemmed and she is taking off 4 inches from the train, so it sits even with the bustle up. All of my alterations cost me $145

I budgeted for $300 on the low end!

She said I will have back with in 3 weeks

I can't complain. I will get it steamed in Vegas once we get in

Yay! One more thing checked off the list!

145 is pretty good! I'm thinking of also getting it steamed in Vegas too. I'm hoping to find somewhere that isn't so expensive to steam.

Yeah I thought so too! Someone quoted me $850

No way!

Creative bridal, Aria's preferred vendor quoted me: "The cost ranges from 65 to 125 includes pick up and delivery . If the dress is tule or a silk or a material that cannot be steamed hand ironing can cost an additional 10 to 20. "

i wish i was in Vegas with you guys, i could steam it! I used to work at a Bridal store so i know the ins & outs on how to make it look great!!
$145 is a good price!

I plan on ironing the tulle at home this week, plus the slips and then having my friend look at it ..i will be able to get a better grasp on what i need to do the dress!

Gahhhhhhhh my dress is all tulle on the bottom! What if I just leave it hung in the bathroom with th re hot water on haha. @ssteele04 you are lucky to have that experience!

My mom bought a handheld steamer off amazon and it works amazing! Ill ask her the brand.

so just to make sure I have this right...tulle cannot be steamed?

It can be steamed i would turn the dress inside out and do it, wait a few hours to let it dry, then turn it around and steam the front....depending on the material you HAVE to be careful with the water drops from the steamer. I am OCD when it comes to dresses so i will iron my tulle on low heat

Holy eff! My dress is done already! I go back for my 2nd fitting, to make sure it is perfect and the bustle works....

Are you only having two fittings?? What kind of bustle did you do? I have my first one scheduled tomorrow. I need to get this dress out of my house!

KikiMira that was fast! My dress will be done mid april! That's when I go for my last fitting but I will be leaving it there up until a day before we leave. I also have a bustle. I didn't know there were more than one kind lol

Yep, maybe 3 if there is anything else I need done. But, I am only getting it hemmed and bustled. My dress fits like a glove otherwise.

My bustle is a french/under bustle, I wanted a ballroom bustle but because my dress has layers, the french works best.

Haha boy am I a dummy! After seeing your link I realized I was confused as to what a bustle is lol I thought it was the back part of your dress that is corset lol oops! Well I do not have a bustle haha

I'm not even taking mine in until the 17th...we leave the 26th eeeek. She assured me they could turn it around in a day if they needed to. More time to lies weight i suppose!

@ssteele04 I wish outr wedding were just a few days closer, I would totally pay you to steam my dress.

Im such a tomboy, I know nothing about dresses. I have asked my poor seamstress (is that what they are called) like 10,000 questions. I don't bring my dress in until april. Do all wedding dresses need a bustle? I have one that is kind of a trumpet style, but I think the trumpety part start a little higher? Do you wear a slip under all wedding dresses? And don't even get me started on bras, there is no back to my dress, I guess its a good think i am realatively small chested. Do you need to bring anything besides your dress when you go in for your fitting. I need to call me dress lady again.

@thesepinkdays I know not a lot about dresses, but that seems awfully close to me. My lady wanted 6-8 weeks, so i went with the full 8. She said 2 weeks is her minimum but she didn't recomend it. Im afraid something will be wrong and need another fitting/adjustment

@a13049~ i would have to see a style of your dress to tell you what bustle would work best for your dress, i have a 3 point bustle on my dress, mine is the tight fitting top with poofy bottom, i'll try and find a similar picture

if your dress is completely bare back i would suggest that you get bra cups you can either have the ones that stick on your boobs or sewn in your dress depending on the fabric you have

a slip depends on how poofy you want your dress

I love it! I love that style dress but being so short, when I tried them all I felt liekt he dress was wearing me instead of me wearing the dress.

i know! i'm 5'1 and i have to get pretty tall heels, i'm really trying to avoid alterations so i'm doing everything in my power to lose weight
