Petite Bride help!!

I am very petite (5'0", about 90 pounds) and every aspect of my wardrobe has been a major pain and I am beyond frustrated! I spent hundreds of dollars on alterations for my gown--after special ordering the smallest size available! For months I have been searching for shoes and it's not going well either. I am a little picky, but a bride should be! I need a size 5 with at least a 4 inch heel (preferably a comfy wedge) and of course I want them to be cute! I feel like I've tried every store and website... Am I missing something?

Tiny brides, where did you get your shoes?!? And how about honeymoon lingerie?

Re: Petite Bride help!!

  • I wear 5 1/2 or 6 dependent on brand, and I've had good luck finding small sizes at Target, though recently I haven't been impressed with the selection at my local one. As for lingerie, aerie runs pretty small--I'm a 34B normally and have had to buy a C cup in that store.

  • If I could wear a 6 I'd be the happiest person alive! Target starts at a 5 1/2, which is too big for me. Thanks for the tip about Aerie though! I'm a 32A, which again, most stores don't carry in cute sexy styles.
  • I'd try buying online. Most stores carry the less in-demand styles online. I'm a 32DDD, which is kind of a random size, and often have to buy on victoriasecret.com (I'm sure there are others, but I've had good luck with them, and like the free in-store returns).
  • I am a petite bride too. Fortunately for me I wear a 5 1/2- 6 shoe. However, I do wear a 32AA bra and that is a basically non existent size.

As far as shoes what are you looking for? White or colored? Strappy sandal or like a pump? What is your price range?
These are small, pretty, bridaly and high. They are not wedges but they got decent reviews for comfort. http://www.zappos.com/badgley-mischka-goodie-white-satin
  • I'm petite (5'1") but I have big feet. I wear a size 7. I would try looking online.

5'1 with size 7 is big feet?  I'm an inch taller and wear an 8.   I must have elephant feet then!
  • My main problem is that I'm looking for shoes with some color, and I my style is less "bride-y" than most. I also have a fairly limited budget (looking in the under $50 range). I've searched through all the big name sites like Amazon and Zappos and a size 5 is very elusive! I guess I'm hoping there's a secret website out there that I haven't found yet!
  • Try zappos.  free shipping.  Free returns and they carry so many unusual sizes.  i wear a 91/2 narrow.  It is impossibly to find running shoes in narrow width.  My FI was a 14 EE (crazy wide), and zappos is the only place to find shoes.  My SIL has a 5 N and she buys her shoes at zappos.  And you can find them and narrow down the selection by size, color, and even heel height.  It makes shoe shopping a breeze.
  • Have you checked DSW? They have quite a few affordable pumps and wedges in size five. I love that place/ site.
  • Right now, DSW seems to be my #1 pick, but I still can't find exactly what I'm looking for. I think my problem is that my wedding is a little more casual and quirky and I really had my heart set on some fun colorful shoes with a lot of personality.

Thanks for the suggestions so far!
  • I was at DSW yesterday and it really feels they are 'in between seasons' at my store.  Just keep looking, the fun spring/summer shoes should be coming to the stores soon!!

I'm 4' 11" and wear a 7. I never knew I was walking around with snow shoes apparently.

  • I think all that poster meant was that we short people tend to have smaller feet just like we have shorter arms and legs. A size 7 or 8 doesn't mean you're feet are freakishly huge, just that they're larger than average for your size. My feet are disproportionate too though! Your foot is supposed to be the size of your forearm from elbow to wrist and mine is about half an inch short.
  • Try www.shoesofprey.com. It is $$$ but you get to design what you want exactly.

I've always felt that my feet are too big for my body. Didn't mean to offend anyone! I'm short with chicken legs and I just feel that my feet look so large sometimes.
  • Have you looked at Nina shoes?  (find them at amazon, macys, dsw, etc.) They come in size 5, and run small. I am usually a 6 and had to get a 6.5 for the wedding.  The electra style is 4" I think, the forbes were 3.5" heel.  They come in a lot of fun colors.

I have always found fun and colorful heels at DSW so that would be my first pick for that requirement. Not sure on how often they have size 5 but I bet online would be your better bet.

My friends wedding we bought shoes through piperlime.com.  One of my friends is very petite and they had her size ( i think she was a 5 but do not remember for sure.  she is 4"11 though and has small feet though!

Oh no worries.... it takes a heck of a lot more to offend me!  :D
