    Grass?
Central Ontario here...my (reasonable) guess for all the snow to be gone? Mid May.
Snow banks in parking lots are still over 40 ft with temps -24 this morning (before windchill)
Darn it! I'm on the west coast so there have only been 4 days when I couldn't see the grass, but it rains constantly. However, I'm getting married in Ontario in 1 month and was really hoping for a nice spring wedding with tulips and daffodils coming out, but SO MUCH SNOW means either gross, dirty snow banks or mud and floods:(
we are praying for a slow thaw...
While not nice temperature wise its either slightly cold or a complete flood.
    Ugh, I hate winter

It's weed season in Phoenix, what joy.

You have plants. I have horrible spring allergies and I'd still willingly trade the misery I'll get when my allergies hit for having weather warm enough to have the allergies.

Our weather forecasters have been telling us ALL WEEK, 'This is the coldest March on record! March isn't usually this cold! It's really cold outside for it being March and all!'

    Not.Helping.
Co-motherfucking-sign. I have awful allergies. I don't care! I need some warm weather.
Agree. I am NOT looking forward to the pollen day when everything gets coated yellow but once we're past that I'll be a happy camper.

  • At this point, I'll just be happy if we can get half the mall parking lot back. Instead of doing 40ft piles, the plows did 15 ft piles that take up half of each row. Parking is a bitch, and I still have no sales cause nobody wants to go out in this fucking weather.

That said, I know spring is coming because the Mall Geese are back. I look forward to simultaneously gritting my teeth and going "aww, fluffy gooslings!" as I wait for them to cross the road.

  • It is currently 82 out. I am taking orders for bottled sunshine.

It's sunny out today and 21* but the feels-like temp is 10* :| I'm tempted to not even go out for lunch bc it's so cold.
  • It's 68 right now in Kissimmee but only because it's raining.  It's been in the upper 70s to 80s all winter.  Although you say now you'd kill for the pollen, I've been suffering all winter since the trees/grasses don't know it's winter.

Bahaha.. I'm in the Phoenix area too, having a hard time complaining to my non-AZ friends.  Except for the weeds.  The weeds suck.

Most people around here still have their Christmas lights up because no one wants to stand in 2 feet of snow trying to take them down. Flowers seem a long way away to me.

But I did hear birds chirping this morning, so that's a good sign!
Haha a friend of mine got cited by her HOA for not taking down her lights. They were frozen to the bushes, what the heck was she supposed to do?

Does "ring by spring" count when my birthday is in spring and FI had promised to propose prior to my birthday?....... :)

I will come visit you at the Mall!! I have to go clothes shopping (I know you sell furniture), but DH and I could probably stand to buy a dresser.

  • I personally have done Texas in Summer and New York in summer. I will gladly take New York. Texas summers are never ending, brutal, and suck out your will to live. Seriously they last 6 months. Every. Damn. Year.

But the summers of suck are the price we pay for mild winters I guess.

I grew up in Florida and live in NY now. I never understood snowbirds till I moved here. But they make total sense to me now.

  • Does "ring by spring" count when I know BF is proposing in the next month and we won't see "spring" until May (and then for about 72 hours)?
  • I keep personally hoping every time we get precipitation that it'll be snow and not ice or the newest thing "Thunder Sleet".  The weather station keeps cautioning that people should work from home.  Makes me want to throw things.  I don't get to work from home, I have to drive my little car down the slicked icy roads that have not been sanded or salted to get to work because I don't have vacation or sick days.  I need my paycheck.  Luckily I haven't killed myself or wrecked my car yet.

About a month before the cherry blossoms reach peak along the Potomac River... and they are calling for a "wintry mix" tomorrow morning, followed by 60 degrees on Saturday. Go home, weather. You're drunk.
This is exactly why we moved from Maryland to western Colorado seven years ago!  Summer in DC is horrible!

  • I seriously can't take any more of this snow/ice crap. My car has 4 mostly-bald tires that I haven't been able to take in to replace because it's been too snowy/icy to drive to the mechanic on any weekend that FI and I aren't traveling. Seriously, I've been putting this off since DECEMBER.

But they are plants I need to pull or mow. Not lovely flowers like some people are experiencing. I tell you what though. When it is August, you can go ahead and brag about how beautiful your weather is when I'm swealtering in 110+ heat.
I would love to be outside gardening. Or mowing. Just to be outside for an extended period of time without my face feeling like it's going to freeze off would be amazing.

I don't know about HGF, but August in NY is miserable. 90 degree weather with crazy humidity.
I co-sign the August in NY being miserable. Everyone is just damp all the time from the humidity.
110 is Horrible but try 105 + 60-70% humidity in the Caribbean. Makes me want to wear a bikinito the university!

Our geese are back too, and they're confused as fuck.

Also, we still have the 60ft piles of snow taking up our parking lots here in Southern Ontario, and it's driving me bonkers. I went to Costco yesterday and half of the lot was snow piles.

  • @hisgirlfriday13 I spent four hours today pulling weeds. And I still didn't get them all. My hands hurt.

  • Above freezing here today, and looks like that for the rest of the week!!  MELT MELT MELT!!!!  I can't wait for the 6' of snow to disappear.

  • I was so disappointed when I walked outside today! It was super sunny and pretty looking, but it was only 30* and crazy windy. Boo. :(

  • Its 75 here. We still have snow on the ground, and are supposed to get more in 2 days. I would totally prefer one extreme or the other. This whole hot to frigid thing is killing me and my poor plants.
  • One of my friends said this yesterday re:weather: It's so expensive to live in California because IT'S WORTH IT.
  • I don't have a problem with new posters thinking all of those things are okay, because how are they supposed to know better if no one has told them? I have a problem with them not accepting it's rude once we tell them that it's rude.

Also, it will be 75 degrees here today. Send some winter this way, please.
It was 77 yesterday when I was out running errands.

I'm in Manitoba and its currently snowing again. I've heard its supposed to get close to the positive side of freezing soon but for this entire winter if its been anything nicer than -20 we've gotten snow so I'm a little afraid we're just going to get more snow.

I'd happily take pulling weeds or mowing over shoveling snow. I'll be even less demanding, I just want to be able to go outside without a parka and not freeze to death.
I have a friend who is a professor in Manitoba; I'm going to suggest her name at our conference committee meeting tomorrow to do the closing comments because I thought she might like an excuse to escape Manitoba and visit her friends in California.  ;)
