Annnnnnnnd....it's gone.

Re: Annnnnnnnd....it's gone.

  • This is what I get when I have to actually do work.

    AHHH STUCK IN BOX!!!
I missed most of the thread by being productive this week. Thanks, work and life.
  • Oh man, this is what I get for catching up on sleep. I got all the way up to page 11 before I left work yesterday. I just don't understand what the point of name-calling on an internet forum is. If you don't like what people are saying, just peace out. It's not like anyone here knows who you are IRL and can send the Wedding Police to arrest you!

  • I guess I missed the end of that train wreck.  I don't remember what page I was on but I told OP that she sucked at communicating with others.  I missed everything after that.

  • I didn't catch any of that thread, but now I wish I had, lol.  Especially since I currently live in NOLA.  I would love to have seen what etiquette atrocities she was excusing as "you just don't understand NOLA."  I've been to a number of weddings out here and always had a place to sit...would have been PO'd otherwise.  No other bad etiquette I've seen either.

The only two things I've seen done here in NOLA that I haven't seen anywhere else is the bridesmaids pulling ribbons out of the cake with little tokens on them...that part is true.  Though the ribbon pulling is usually done amongst themselves, its not a big show for the whole reception.

And, at some point in the reception festivities, the bride will lead the guests in a "Second Line".  Sort of like a Congo Line.  When the Second Line song plays, the bride will get up with a pretty parasol...usually used just for this song...and will start a dancing line that weaves through the room.  Guests who wish to will stand up with a napkin, sway it to and fro in time to the music, and follow in the line.

Like a conga line without the conga?

I am bummed that I, too, missed the thread. I love trainwreck threads and it would have made my day so much better. I wish there was a beacon of sorts to alert everyone to the thread before it disappears.

Editted-grammar. I wish I could blame it on my root canal.

  • The charms things are a little weird to me, but I also think the garter/bouquet toss is pretty outdated, so it's just my mindset.
