We are planning a Destination Wedding (still researching the places but it will be in Florida, Mexico or the Caribbean), and would like to know your sugestions/opinions about wedding colors. I love most of the colors combos generaly associated with a beach wedding,but I really would like to do something not that obvious. On top of it, because we will have another sort of reception in Italy (Lake Como) for my Italian family, I'd like to have colors that I can use in both locations because it would make my life easier in buying goods for both receptions. Thanks!

    We're getting married in NY but have a palm tree theme going on.

    Anything related to that theme is brown and green, like the colors of a palm tree.

    I'm one of those people who feels that the color scheme of the clothing and decorations does not have to "match" any sort of theme. But it's a personal choice.

    My favorite color is aqua, so that would be my choice, but if I were you, I'd first think about the feeling you want at your wedding, THEN choose colors. Do you want fun & funky, nautical, or elegant? Candelabra or floating candles? Roses or some other type of flower?


    When faced with choices you probably want to think about the above before choosing colors. Certain colors evoke certain "feelings" or surroundings.


    When in doubt, I find that all white weddings, with a touch of an accent color are just lovely. If all your decorations and flowers are white, and you choose a color for your bridesmaids or attendants' clothing, you can't go wrong.

    We have three color schemes going.

    Brown and green for anything palm tree related.

    Dresses are platinum (mine), black (bridesmaids), ivory and black (flower girl).

    Flowers are blue and lavendar.

    I'm always pro oranges for beach weddings, not many people do them, but I think it's a colour that really pops yet compliments the scenary. I also like PP suggestion of white accents - I think that's elegant no matter where a wedding is.
