  The other post is too overwhelming for me to respond to, but for heaven's sake why do we need to link a source with our "opinion"? How about if you pose a question, and 27 of the 30 people who respond say "no, that's a bad idea, for this reason ___ ", that should be your answer.

   To any diva brides: That was the worst train wreck ever witnessed!  I have learned from my mistakes once 20 or more people called me out on doing something because it was against etiquette.  If one person says something, dismiss it, if two people say the same thing, consider it, if three or more people are in agreement and disagree with you, then you are at fault... not them... not the world. 

       I, for one, am thankful for the knot. If I went into  my wedding, guns blazing, with the "it's all about me day", I can guarantee I would never have another event where anyone would be in attendance.  If you offend everyone you know, why not just elope and keep your friends? That way, your wedding can be all about you (and, I hope, the groom), and you don't need to worry about upsetting anyone.  If you plan on having an "all about me day and your subjects must do your bidding," know that they will not come to you and talk shit about your wedding.  They will side eye it, and talk about it to anyone else who would listen. 

     Now, if you are a decent person, and care about offending your family, take the advice of random strangers.  They don't know you, they will give you an honest answer. And if everyone is in agreement with each other, and they are disagreeing with your treatment of guests, you are the problem. If you would like to still have close friends and family members after "your big day,"  I advise that you gain a little perspective, and stop seeing everything from only your point of view.

  I got nothing done this morning reading those trainwrecks.
  
  They deleted just as I was heading to the last page.

  As Etiquette Authority, can you be like Terry Tate Office Linebacker and blaze in to sack anyone who tries to give terrible "advice," like my coworker yesterday who told me it went against etiquette to invite SO's by name and was more proper to put "and guest" if you knew someone was in a relationship but hadn't met them yet?   I'm a little bummed because near the end, I asked her for proof of what she believes to be good etiquette, and then I went to get coffee, and then the thread was gone, so I don't know if she replied.

  
  Granted, I'm sure her reply would have been some rambling, grammatically incorrect heap that contributed nothing to the conversation and was full of excuses and personal insults.
