Average cost/budget for floral arrangements. Any economical suggestions?

Hello,

So I am trying to determine what is too much for flowers for the wedding.  I had spoken with a florist today (higher end) and was blown away when I saw the proposal.  I have 6 attendants total (3 bridesmaids and 3 groomsmen plus parents).  Below is the quote I received:

Bridal Bouquet (White roses with white calillias with tiffany blue ribbon loops around base and cuff with rhinestone accents in bouquet) - $250.
Attendants Bouquet (White roses with tiffany blue ribbon):  $450 total ($150 a piece)
Small Mothers wrist corsage (White Roses): $100.00 total ($50 a piece)
Boutonnieres (white calalillies): $120 total ($20 a piece)

Grand Total: 920 (for just bridal party flowers)

This does not include table centerpieces or other event decor.
Does anyone have any recommendation of flowers that they have found to be cheaper or is this florist just extremely expensive as I found this to be very high.  I'm open to ideas/suggestions!

Thanks everyone :)

  • Try in the flower section- this section is for dresses and stuff.

  • Try the flower boards but I think you just picked an expensive florist or expensive flowers. I'm in the Boston area and my bouquet will be 120 and the bridesmaids will be 55 each.
  • I've heard Costco actually does nice things.
  • You did pick a high-end florist, and I believe you get what you pay for. Around here we will be paying between $2000 and $3000 for all floral arrangements with similar flower choices to yours. We have a 12-person bridal party including myself and FI and probably a dozen centerpieces.

If you have the time and the means to do so you can certainly order your flowers elsewhere and arrange them yourself for a LOT cheaper. I don't really have a flair for this so we'll be making the investment....this will be probably the most expensive single aspect of our wedding aside from the venue/catering package.
  • Costco and Sam's Club does awesome work, for 1/3 the of the price. That is where all of my flowers will come from. I suggest doing some research before you finalize with any florist.

  • Try sticking with flowers that are in season, that should help keep the costs down. Also, try adding in some cheaper flowers as filler. I used succulents in my bouquet. Not only did it look great (in my opinion) it really helped keep the costs down. I have also seen a few weddings that use all baby's breath for the bouquets. Not sure if that would fit with the overall look of your wedding but I think it looks amazing for rustic or garden weddings and it is really economical!
