Fitness Friday/Weight loss thread

Okay, I'm going to start a fitness friday/weight loss accountability thread.   Before we do, lets do a quick GTKY for those who want to participate

Wedding Date:July 23

Where are you now, where do you want to be? (current weight/goal weight, other)  I am at my goal weight, but I want to tone up alot.  I lost a lot of my athletic build when I was on bedrest for 20 weeks of my pregnancy.

How do you plan to get there? (Diet, exersice, how many times a week?)  My goal is to work out 5 times a week and get back on my clean eating diet.  NO POP!!!!!!

Other good info?  Trying to decide on a workout plan that will really work for me and that I can stick to through my babies crazy sleep schedule.

Where are you now, where do you want to be? (current weight/goal weight, other)  I don't like disclosing my weight because I'm a big baby. I want to lose 50-60 lbs and tone up before my wedding. I'm 5'10" so I guess I "carry my weight well" and have never been told I look fat or overweight, it's a total personal endeavor.

How do you plan to get there? (Diet, exersice, how many times a week?)  My goal is to keep eating clean. I am on Day 5 of Paleo eating and loving it so far. When my energy levels are back up I plan to try CrossFit and do that several times a week. I have a gym membership that I don't utilize much because it's far from my house, but they are starting a Pilates class 2 evenings a week that I may join.

Other good info?  I suck at diets and working out - I'm focusing on my diet 100% right now because they say abs are made in the kitchen!! So I'm trying to conquer one big hurdle at a time. I love to cook and am always finding new recipes so would love to share those and get others as well :)

  • Good luck ladies! Wish I had done this before my wedding. Just wanted to share the best advice that was given to me when I was trying to look my best for my dress. Have a homemade healthy smoothie for breakfast and a salad for lunch. If you start out your day on a healthy food you will want to keep it going for the rest of the day. And if you do slip up and have a cheat dinner, at least you have already had a good start to the day. It worked for me!
  • Wedding date : November 1st

Where am I now and where do I want to be? I have lost almost 60lbs in the last year. I am fine with my weight I would like to get my body fat % down and trim atleast a full in off of,my waist.

I plan on continuing to eat clean, working out and doing the 21day fix.
  • @greeneyezkat look up Nicole Green Fitness on Instagram or Facebook. She does "challenge groups" that are super supportive and awesome... She just did a 21 day fix group and shared results. AMAZING. good luck!!

  • I haven't heard of the 21 day fix.  Going to have to look it up.  I can already admit I did horrible on my cheat day.  Saturdays are my cheat day and I usually allow myself something a little indulgent to reward myself.  I had chinese with my mom for lunch, pizza for dinner and chik fil A for snack.  Woops.  To make if worse my LO is teething and didnt sleep at all last night so I skipped my 5 am workout.  Going to try to get a run in this evening once she goes to be, maybe Ill do an insanity or P90x video?  This is why I need an accountability check in!  I keep telling myself, oh I have 4 month.  But the time is going to go by fast and I want to be ready for my bathing suit and dress!  Hope everyone did better than I this weekend
  • I started the Paleo diet and am not allowing myself a cheat day for 30 days! I'm rewarding myself with FEELING and LOOKING good - not with food! It's hard to change that mind set, but we have to remind ourselves are not DOGS - we don't need "treats" for good behavior lol Just remember ONE bad day doesn't ruin your week, you can still redeem yourself and make better choices throughout the week. Don't let it get you down :)

I spent 6 hours yesterday doing meal prep for this week - it's so exhausting but nice to know I don't have to cook all week

  • I am getting married in 68 days and my dress is snug!   I am on day ONE of Paleo.  Is this going to work?  I have also been doing T25 for 2 weeks now.

I love it tcnoble! I can totally get behind that philosophy

  • tcnoble~ we meal plan also! I do monthly meal plans

I love the Cardio Part of P90x So i will switch that up with Zumba, i also like Jillian Michael's kickboxing, i know some people do the 30 day shred of hers and like the results of it.

my dress is snug! My boobs, rib cage/back is much bigger after having my son, but didn't change after having my daughter. I really don't want to get it taken out but i think that is what is going to have to happen.

  • What is the Paleo Diet?
    Wedding Countdown Ticker
  • @vintagecircus the first week was rough for me - I had a slight headache and just a kind of "foggy" feeling - if you read up about it, it's totally normal. Your body wants what it's used to getting - carbs and sugar. You're detoxing your body. After a week I already felt slimmer, less bloated, sleeping  better, etc. and you get to eat GOOD foods. I've found so many yummy recipes!

@ssteel04 if you google you will find tons of resources and information. You eat a lot of meats, eggs, veggies, some fruits, and "good" fats. Just a principle of clean eating and giving your body what it needs.

Im a pescetarian so no meats for me. Hopefully they will hire someone soon so I can get back on my workouts. However I am doing a 30day straight clean challenge meaning no cheat meals with one of my girlfriends that is in S. Africa starting on the 1st we will.DM each other our meals to hold each other accountable. Plus I will start back running and doing out door workouts since the weather is warming up and I won't have to worry about a sitter.

    Good work ladies!

I won't join in with this as my wedding is practically here so I won't be around much for checking in but I wanted to offer some advice from what I have learned during my own fitness challenge over the last 14 months

    1. LIFT WEIGHTS - way better than endless steady state cardio for helping tone you (even underneath the fat you want to lose - start the toning now) and lean muscle requires your metabolism to work at a faster rate (i.e. you burn more calories daily the more muscle you have).
    2. EAT MORE PROTEIN AND HEALTHY FATS / EAT LESS CARBS - don't be afraid of consuming protein shakes to help you meet the protein levels your body needs for building muscle if you're struggling to meet it with meat/fish/legumes alone - they're not just for bodybuilders! It's very hard for women to put on lots of muscle, believe me I've been trying really hard for over a year. If you're serious about building muscle I'd also suggest looking into carb backloading to make the most of the carbs you do eat.
    3. SWITCH UP CARDIO - keep your body guessing with various types and intensities of cardio to keep from reaching a plateau with how your body responds. I'm a big fan of HIIT and Tabata.
    4. LOG YOUR FOOD - To stick to healthy/clean eating I found logging my food on MFP one of the best things to keep me in check, I added a couple of the girls on here as well as some other friends and even if they aren't paying attention to what I post, in my mind it keeps me from going overboard knowing that someone might be checking in - perhaps as part of this accountability thread you should all add each other on MFP?
    5. FIND WHAT WORKS FOR YOU - obvious but important, if cutting lots of types of food out only makes you crave them more and cheat and then sabotage your work then a really restricted plan isn't for you, try something that focuses on meeting macronutrient levels more than it focuses on restriction (i.e. focus on what your body needs rather than what you're avoiding eating)

    Good luck all of you!

If you want to add me on MFP my username is Jiimanie (although I may not be using it much for a good 3 week period starting in 20 days time!!!)

CONGRATS!! 1lb is still a loss! Keep up the good work!!

I weigh myself on Tuesdays so I'll have a better update then! This week has been tough, we had some special lunches at work (I'm a teacher) that were hard to resist but I'm making it through. My FI and I are going to dinner tonight and I already scoped out the menu and know what I'm ordering - helps me stay on track when I do that.

    What recipes have you found??

    This weekend I'm making..
    - turkey stuffed bell peppers
    - honey chicken stir fry
    - meatloaf
    - crock pot mexican chicken soup
    - coffee cake banana bread
    - chocolate chip banana muffins

    ALL clean/paleo approved!

  • Hey ladies, can I join you, have at least 4/5 stone I wanna lose. And NEED to lose as much as poss before the wedding as I did that STUPID thing of buying a too small dress - why did I ever think that would be a good idea?! I have been trying to eat healthily for 2 weeks now and have been going swimming too - lost 5lb my first week which I was really happy about, then this week I weighed in and had only a 1lb loss so I'm really fed up - I know it's still a loss and I should be happy blah blah, but I was just expecting a bit better than that - silly, I know! Going to keep at it and hope for much better numbers next week! :)
  • @kazza25 don't forget that as you are gaining muscle it can effect the numbers on the scale - don't let it discourage you! Keep doing what you are doing and look at how you FEEL not just that number!

  • I posted on a thread in the health and fitness as I'm combining 30 day shred with calorie controlled diet (weight watchers!) two weeks in I've lost 5lb. It's tough going, it's great to see people on here who will help keep each other motivated!
  • Can I just say even though it's not Friday I've lost 2 more lbs lol 8-10 more to go!

  • Check in ladie! I almost misses it, spent the day in interviews. I had a good week, down one pound. I think I need to stop loosing and start building some muscle up. Upping my calories and protein and hitting the weights harder. How have you done
  • Lost 1lb! 8 more to go! It's crunch time!
