That was an emotional weekend... with GIFs

Friday was a holiday here, so FI and FFIL were home all day. My sinuses have been kicking my ass for a couple days, so I stayed in bed pretty much all day on Friday, trying to decide whether I felt up to going to visit our BM and his friends that night or whether FI should go alone.

Cameron Dying

At some point on Friday morning, FMIL started having a hissy fit about how we need to move because our stuff was only supposed to be in storage at her boss's farm for a couple months. I'm not going to get into all the details, but basically I don't believe that that's coming from the boss at all (the boss has plenty of opportunities to talk to me or FI about it directly and never even mentions it) - I think it's coming from FMIL but she's too chicken to say she wants us out of her house.

Dr. Evil Right

Anyway, as it happens, one of the apartments in one of the buildings that FI manages is opening up end of this month. It's not a great building, and it's not in a great area, but it's an old building so the apartments are spacious, it's near enough to FI's work, and we can afford the rent, even if it takes a while for me to get another job. The downsides are that 1) we can't take our cats with us, so they'll have to stay with the FILs, 2) I can't take the admin/CS job I applied for last month, if they ever get back to me about it, because it would mean FI driving about an extra 144km every day to get me to work and get back to work himself, and 3) I have to quit my art classes, because I wouldn't be able to get there on time. The upsides are there are actually driving schools close by, so hopefully I'll be able to get my license sooner rather than later. I have very mixed feelings about all of this.

Sherlock Feelings

Some time on Friday afternoon, FI's dog suffered a stroke. This is the dog who has only one eye, and a metal pin in his back leg. He has severe arthritis, and a heart condition. He's about 14 years old. The FILs took him to the hospital on Saturday morning (wasn't open on Friday) where they checked his organs and whatnot, no signs of organ failure. They gave him a couple of injections and some medication and sent him home. He hasn't eaten since the stroke, which means he hasn't taken any medication, and he only drinks about two licks of water every couple of hours. The vet's going to stop by in a little while and see what can be done, but we're not holding out much hope that he'll recover.

Group Cry

Friday night, we went to the thing at BM's place, because it would have been a giant sob-fest if we'd stayed home. It was okay, the food was good, and the people were interesting. Then I slept forever. Well, actually only until my appointment with the dress designer. She was very cool, we came up with something that we both really like, she took measurements, and she's going to do her sums and get back to me with a quote by Wednesday. So I'm excited for that.

OMG Katy

I also spoke to the venue owner AGAIN, and she promised that she'd get the quote through to me this week. She also promised to email me about some work they want done on their website and Facebook etc, so yay work!

Get Money, Get Paid

Sunday we pretty much just hibernated because way too much emotion on Friday and Saturday. And we're going up to the city this coming weekend to finalise wedding stuff, get supplies, see FI's doctor etc, and when we get back we'll have about 3 days before we move. So this week is going to be full of writing (because I need to finish the March writing challenge), and packing, and purging, and exhaustion.

busy

So, I might disappear for a couple of weeks, but don't worry. I'm okay, I will be okay, and I will be back!

I'll be back. (Terminator)

  • UPDATE: Vet says the clot is dissolving, slowly, but it IS dissolving. Assuming he doesn't have any further strokes, he should recover. That could take a couple of days, or a couple of months, and we won't know until it happens.

She gave him a B12 shot and more cortisone. At her suggestion, we made gravy for him, to try and get some sort of nutrients into him, but he didn't go for it. He did, however, eat some chicken this evening. She's coming back in the morning to check on him again, so we're going to ask her to bring a bigger syringe than the one we have, so we can feed him with the syringe if he starts refusing food again.

Glad to hear it!  I'm a sucker for the furbabies and I'm glad to hear he should recover.

Good luck with all your changes coming up!
