registry for honeymoon?

Is there anyway to set up a registry for guest to put money towards our honeymoon? We're going the New Hampshire in the Fall and everything's booked. It's really not your typical honeymoon, just wondering if anyone's ever set up a wedding registry for their honeymoon?

Honeymoon registries are rude.  You are basically asking people to fund your optional vacation. You should plan a HM that you and your FI can currently afford, not one where you need people to contribute.

  • Asking for cash even when disguised as a HM registry is inappropriate. Your guest already know cash is a great gift and will give cash if they want.

Do a small registry and if someone asks what you want as a gift you can say you are registered at store x but also saving for a honeymoon. Reminder, please do not put anything about registry info in the wedding invites.
  • In addition to what other posters have said, there is one other issue with honeymoon registries. The organizations that establish these "registries" take a cut from the amount that is gifted. If a guest thinks they are gifting you a $50 dinner, you only receive the cash value equivalent of perhaps $45. Why would you want to do that to yourself or your guest. People know how to gift cash if that is their preference.

If everything is booked, then basically you're asking people to pay for a vacation you will already have paid for by the time you actually go?

  • This is a very popular question and the responses are always the same. This question gets asked at least one a week. For OP andall lurkers, please use the search tool at the bottom of the page.

  • Yes there are ways to do this, no there is no way to do this without being completely tacky.
  • Uh, if everything is booked and (I assume) paid for, why not just put the checks/cash people give you in your bank account? Why do you have to have it designated honeymoon money?

If you think people are more likely to give you boxed gifts then cash, do a small registry or no registry at all, and when people ask say you're saving up for a honeymoon. Some people will still give physical items. Thats okay.

  • I also don't understand why, if everything is booked, you're asking people to fund your vacation. Ridiculous.

You should have lurked on the boards before asking this question.  It is beyond rude and tacky to ask your guests to shell out their hard earned money to pay for your HM.  If you and FI cannot afford a HM, then don't expect your guests to pay for it either.  Rude.

  • I think you can probably just take the regular checks you get from people and deposit them into your bank account but honestly I'm not really sure how checks work.
  • You booked a vacation you need help paying for?
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • There is no safe or appropriate way to register for money.

If guests want to give you money, they will write you a check.  Hopefully you haven't booked a trip you can't afford.
