Monday already?

Morning, all. How was your weekend? Mine was really nice!

Friday, I got a manicure after work and then H and I went to the Devils game and we lost and I was sad.

Saturday, I drove to Atlantic City to celebrate my cousin's 21st birthday with her. Our other cousins, aunts and uncles and grandmom were there also. I'm not much of a gambler and I woke up sick but still had a good time. We spent the day at the spa/pool and got massages. Then went to dinner and did a little gambling. There was a large group of us and I think only 3 people (myself included) came out ahead! I won $20 when all was said and done and that paid for my parking so whoop whoop! I went to bed pretty early because I was running a pretty high fever.

Yesterday, I woke up feeling a bit better. We took a long walk on the boardwalk and then had breakfast and said goodbye to my aunt who is moving to the Philippines today. After that, I drove back north for the last Devils game of the season. We won and it was most likely Marty Brodeur's last game as a Devil so there were lots of feels.

I had some beers with friends and then met H at the tattoo place because he got the outline of his knee tattoo last night! It looks SO GOOD. He goes back after we go to Costa Rica and I can't wait to see it all finished.

I hope this week flies by because I have a long weekend coming up and I can't wait!

Re: Monday already?

  • @Swazzle Costa Rica sounds awesome! Are you going on vacation?

I'm getting back in the saddle after a looong weekend of being sick. I had a long day at church yesterday, and due to poor planning on my part FI and I went to different services. Before I came home he stopped by my apartment and left me flowers and candy. It was a good start to the week.

I just got to the office and no one on my row seems to be here, so I'm knotting away.

    Happy Monday y'all!

  • OMG I WANT TO VOMIT. No, seriously.

Walked into my office about 15 minutes ago to an overwhelming sewage stench. We don't know what's wrong, but it is DISGUSTING. My boss isn't here yet and hasn't answered our calls/texts yet, nor has our landlord. I'm seriously hoping that the second we get in touch with my boss, or when he comes in and smells it himself, he'll tell us to go home. I'm setting up LogMeIn on my computer rightthissecond so that I'm all set to WFH. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

  • @swazzle I'm sorry you were feeling crappy this weekend, that's the worst!!!!

Friday night I got home from work and FI brought home Chinese food from a restaurant who used to be really good. They suck now. I stayed up late watching TV, nothing too exciting.

Saturday I worked out then FI left with his BM to go pick up a futon from BM's ex-MIL's house. I took a shower and headed over to his BM's and my BM's house. We hung out and drank, FI drank WAY too much. We played CAH and I had to drive FI home. FI walked in the door and fell on the floor and played with the animals. It was crazy. This wasn't late either, like only 10pm. We went to bed at like 11:30. I'm so glad I didn't drink a ton because neither one of us would've made it home!

Sunday we went grocery shopping and put together an electric smoker my mom got FI for Christmas. I did laundry and worked on my veil. The veil is coming out really well, I'm surprised! I'll share pictures when it's done.

    I'm so glad it's only a four day week, I need a three-day weekend.

  • @Swazzle- I'm jealous of your upcoming Costa Rica trip! H and I were thinking about doing a cruise together this Summer but with the house coming up and the new puppy dog we are getting, it seems like it may not work out. Maybe we can plan something smaller.

This weekend went by way too fast! Friday night was low key, we watched Now and Then which brought back a whole bunch of memories. I love love that movie.

Saturday H had to go to work for a career fair and I got some Spring cleaning done. Now all my Spring clothes are out and it makes our closet look so much brighter. Saturday night it was super warm so we went to the park and walked a couple miles and came back and watched tv.

Sunday our plan was to go to church but my parents called and told me they got some Braves tickets from our neighbors that were really good seats! BEST GAME EVER! They stomped the Nats and I got some sun on my pale legs! Win Win.

My weekend was exactly as exciting as I predicted.... I spent all of Saturday doing chemistry homework that I had been slacking on, and then had chemistry class on Sunday.  I have been battling a sickness since mid-week and my ribs feel actually bruised from coughing so much, so I stayed pretty lazy last night.

  • @Hummingbird125 - once at my work, we lost electricity (in the summer) and they finally let us go home after the toilets weren't working and everything was starting to smell.  GROSS.  hope you get to go home soon!!!

this weekend was very busy.  Friday, H and I did our normal grocery shopping and had dinner.  we also stopped and got a cupcake and some iced coffee (YUM), then went home and watched a couple movies.  I watched Iron Lady (about Margaret Thatcher) and then my H turned on wrestling and I fell asleep.

Saturday we slept in, cleaned up the house, and then went out to eat lunch.  it was a BEAUTIFUL day (highs in mid-80's, but it didn't feel hot) so we had lunch on the patio of our favorite Mexican place and then grabbed some iced coffee (I am addicted, need to back off!).  I got the special, chorizo/corn/potato empanadas with salad and black beans and an avocado sauce.  oh my WORD it was so yummy!!  I will be getting those anytime I see them on the menu.

the rest of Saturday we spent in the yard.  we cleaned out the flower bed (it was full of our neighbor's cat's poop!!) and trimmed all the bushes, then refilled the flower bed with clean mulch and a base layer of lava rock.  I heard that cats don't like the lava rock because they can't scoop it up like kitty litter, like they do my normal mulch.  so we are watching the flower bed like a hawk to see if the cat comes back.

I also planted all my herbs (Greek oregano, Italian oregano, globe basil, genovese basil, tricolor sage, parsley) and did all the pots on my porch.  we are going to Target tonight and I'm going to get an outdoor pillow (on sale!) to put on the porch, too.  I think it looks cute!!

and THEN we set up a soaker hose in my big veggie garden, cleaned up all the trash that blew in our backyard from the construction workers down the street, and H mowed the lawn.  now I think we have the best lawn in the neighborhood!

Saturday evening I cooked arroz con pollo with green beans and salad (from our garden, yum) and my mom came over for dinner.  and then we were in bed and exhausted by 10:30!

Sunday we had church, and I actually managed to do the Insanity Recovery video.  I think the prednisone is working, except that it does have some side effects... but it'll be worth it for me to get back to normal!

I didn't sleep last night (thanks, pred!) so I'm pretty worn out this morning.  after work I plan on taking a nap, cooking dinner, and then going to Target with H.  it's supposed to be our last freeze tonight, so we're going to try to figure out if we can cover my lettuces and peas in the garden.  if not, I hope they make it!
  • @lalalaurita - Yes! H and I are going there for our 1 year anniversary :) We leave in 19 days!

@Hummingbird125 - EW! I hope you get to go home ASAP if not sooner.

@buddysmom80 - I thought it was just allergies but I was definitely running a high fever Saturday night. It broke while I was sleeping and I woke up in a puddle of sweat. ICK! I can't wait to see your veil!

@southernpeach89 - Ugh I hate when real life gets in the way of vacations! Take a long weekend and go somewhere within driving distance!

@BreMR - I hope you feel better soon!

    @CocoBellaF - Your house/yard looks adorable!

@Swazzle I'm so jealous of your Costa Rica trip! FI and I can only do a fast weekend beach vacation this year because all of our vacation time is already allocated to other things.
@CocoBellaF Love your garden pictures! I'm glad your feeling better even if the prednisone is giving you insomnia. :(
@Hummingbird125 Gross!!!! I hope your boss arrives soon and you can go home....yuck.

This weekend was fairly laid back. I met up with one of my BFFs on Friday night for shopping and dinner. I got some quality one on one time with her, which I haven't had in awhile and we had a really great time.

Saturday I got up early and ran 5 miles (woo!!) with my running group. Then FI and I got ready and headed off to the Dogwood Festival. He took some pictures with his DSLR but we haven't uploaded them to the computer yet so I don't have anything to share. We didn't buy anything, although I was seriously tempted by some gorgeous birdhouses, but we had a lot of fun people watching and eating food and drinking beer.

Sunday I met another BFF and we saw the new Captain America movie. I'm not really in to Marvel or the Avengers series, but she is. The movie was actually good and there wasn't a ton of cheesiness. People in the theater were getting really in to it though. Afterwards she and I had lunch and I went back home. Fi borrowed my parent's SUV and picked up a ton of mulch and some other stuff we needed. As soon as I got home I helped him spread mulch in the garden beds and we didn't buy near enough. 20 bags only covered the bed around our mailbox, and the front and one side of the house. We still have a large area that stretches along our driveway and another garden bed on the other side and back of the house to do. We're guessing we'll need about 20 more bags. Then we had dinner at my parent's house and FI cooked tilapia for everyone.

I'm working from home today because of Passover so nearly everyone in my office is gone today and tomorrow (we're an Israeli based company).

@Swazzle Where are you staying in Costa Rica?  We have had great experiences with the Dreams resorts and they're opening a resort in Costa Rica at the end of this year,so we're hoping to add that to our vacation destination list :)

@Cocobellaf  I absolutely cannot wait to own a house with a yard one day to do what you're doing.. it looks great!!

  • Hi Everybody!

Friday - had pizza, sat home, fell asleep early.

Saturday - FI had an eye appointment, after that we went to his house so he could do whatever it is he does there (pay bills and such), then we went to his parents for lunch and a visit.  FI dropped me off at home and he had to go into work.  I played on the computer until he came home then I went to bed.

Sunday - FI played poker in the afternoon and then we went out to dinner with my brother.  We discussed Disney plans with my brother - since he'll be staying about the same amount of time as FI and I and FI can't go on ALL the rides - we decided to have a few meals together and such if reservations work out.  We also found we're on the same flight down to FL as my bro & SIL so we might just get a taxi to Disney (same resort).

I don't feel like I'm going to get a break until April 25.  Next weekend I'm on call and FI has his Lasik and it's Easter.  The 25th I have off work for surgery (trigger thumb) and took that Monday off too - so I have major plans of being lazy!!

  • thanks, everyone!  we have a lot of fun in the warmer months working in the yard/garden.  I have plans to set up battery operated strands of lights on the back fence, and putting up some tiki lamps and other lights so that we can hang out there in the evenings.  I also want to plant some lilac or honeysuckle bushes to cover up those silly looking meters in the backyard and eventually extend the patio a bit for a little more room.

@Swazzle - the pred gives me night sweats, so I am there with you.  I had to change twice last night because I just sweat right through my pjs.  definitely washing the sheets again tonight!  are you feeling much better today?
  • @LaPeanut1018 - Last year we used most of our vacation time for our wedding and HM. It was obviously worth it but I'm looking forward to having the money and the time to take a few trips this year. I wish I could travel full time!

@BreMR - We're staying at 2 "boutique" hotels. One in the Arenal/La Fortuna area for 3 nights and another in the Papagayo/Guanacaste area. I can't think of the names of the actual hotels but I can find it in my email if you're interested! I've never stayed at a Dreams resort. Is it all-inclusive?

@Dignity100 - I never heard of trigger thumb so I looked it up and it sounds uncomfortable/painful. I hope your surgery goes well!

  • @CocoBellaF - OH I loooooove honeysuckle so much! I remember when I was little my mom taught me how to "eat" it. Yum :)

I have a little cough today and my sinuses are still really annoying but I'm not achy anymore and I don't think I have a fever anymore. If I had been home, I would have ripped all of my clothes off but since I was in a hotel room and my cousin was in bed 3 feet from me, I didn't think she'd want to wake up to my boobs hanging out. I tried to move out of the "puddle" and then showered as soon as I woke up in the morning. It was so gross.

Blegh. Still no word from the boss. I seriously cannot focus on anything else but the smell.

My weekend was okay. Friday night FI and I had a long discussion about money. I'm a very strict saver, and he feel like he has no choice but to live paycheck to paycheck. I want to control all the money, but I don't think he wants to just basically sign his paycheck over to me so I can do so. We came to somewhat of a compromise by the end, but I'm sure that there will be many more of these talks ahead of us because we have slightly different styles when it comes to handling our money.

Saturday my mom showed up at our apartment about an hour before we were expecting her - she literally JUST missed "interrupting us", so that was pretty funny. We drove upstate about 2 hours for a tasting event at what WAS my #1 venue choice. The main house was beautiful, but the food was disappointing. The appetizers were standard to blah, the salad was okay, the chicken was tough, the fish was okay, and the beef was disgusting. If I was a guest at a wedding that served this food, I would NOT be too happy about it, and I'm not a picky eater. The ballroom looked a little dingy - and I didn't love the setup. The bar was in another room, as would be the food if we decided to do stations. That probably would be fine for a wedding of 120-200 people, but if we have only about 80 people I'm worried both rooms would look very empty if there were a bunch of people hanging out around the bar.

Today I'm making an appointment to view another venue (this one is only about 15 minutes from us). Hopefully we like that one a LOT more, but it's a bit more expensive. My mom and stepdad told me exactly what they are paying for (which I am super grateful for), but now that I know exactly what we will be responsible for, it helps narrows down our venue choices.

Sunday we took the pup to the dog park, then went food shopping. I made BBQ wings, and we ate them outside on the deck which was lovely. Then I spent about 2 hours working on an Etsy order I need to fulfill this week. We watched Game of Thrones, but not before I saw a huge spoiler via Facebook. Someone remind me to avoid social media unless I'm watching a show as it airs, k?

  • @Swazzle, sorry you were sick this weekend, but it sounds like you didn't let it stop you from having fun. :) Costa Rica sounds AMAZING.

@Hummingbird125, ewww! I hope they set you free soon!

@southernpeach89, puppy? Did I miss something? Too exciting! When is this happening? Do you  have one picked out?

@CocoBellaF, your yard looks terrific! I've never been much of a gardener, but seeing all your plants and how nice they look makes me want to change that!

This was a good weekend. Friday I enjoyed my weekly tradition of watching a stupid movie (this one wasn't so bad, though) and having some junk food for dinner. My family must think I have no life, but it's all I have the energy for sometimes!

Saturday I spent the morning baking cupcakes, and then I got all pretty and went to BFF's house to kick off her bachelorette party! We all went out to a nice restaurant and had some extremely tasty food, then we just went back to her house. We just drank, danced, talked and laughed, and played the panty game, which was hilarious. I think we ended up going to bed around 3.

Sunday I had to get up around 8:30 because I had work that morning. *grumble* One of my co-workers helped me out by working part of my shift, but I still had to take a bunch of stuff home and change before going in. So I was there yesterday. It was so nice, my weekend shift brought in a beautiful cake (FILLED with chocolate!) for my birthday this past week! And since we usually do a potluck on our weekends anyway, one of the nurses made this amazing un-stuffed shells dish that I love. So we stuffed ourselves full of food between getting work done, lol, which is the best kind of work day.

  • @cocobellaf your yard looks great!!!! It gives me motivation to fix the front yard from winter! Maybe I'll work on that tonight when I get home from work.

@dignity100 good luck with the surgery! Trigger thumb is a pain, my friend had to get surgery to fix hers as well a few years ago

@hummingbird125 that sounds disgusting! I could not work in an office that smelled like sewage! Ewwww!

I'm so ready to go home and I've only been here an hour!!!! This week is going to drag.

Saturday I did a whole lot of nothing. BF had to grade papers all day, so I just lounged around and read. I started rereading the first book in one of my favorite series: Sloppy Firsts. I remember someone on here liked these books too. Is it you, @hummingbird125?

Yes that was me! Those are so good, I should reread them too.

  • @Peaseblossom55, I love everything about your posts! (Except for uncomfortable shoes and so-so movies, of course.) So exciting!
  • @CLoGreenEyes- YES! We are getting one hopefully in June. H and I both knew we wanted one shortly after we got married but since we live in an apartment we don't have the space for the big dog that we want. We haven't decided where we are getting the dog yet. I vote for a shelter or rescue type of organization but H is scared that we won't be able to find a puppy at either of those places. We want a lab as our first choice but as long as it's a big family dog I'm good with any type.

We plan to get a house at the beginning of June so that's why we chose that month to get the puppy dog as well.
  • @CocoBellaF your yard looks so nice! I really miss having a backyard, I can't wait to get a house so I can have flowers and herbs again.

I had a really productive weekend. BF was away and I was really looking forward to having a whole weekend to myself!

Friday night and Saturday I cleaned my entire apartment, did all of my laundry, cleaned out and re-organized my closet, moved some stuff down to my storage locker and did a bunch of cooking. Just relaxed and watched a movie on Saturday night.

Yesterday I finished up a few things around the apartment, swung by my BFF's place to pick up a couple books, and then went out to my parents' place for the afternoon/evening. We had our Easter dinner last night since my sister and her BF are going away for the long weekend.

I could really use another weekend day to just relax...

H and I really like all-inclusives and we had originally booked the RIU in Costa Rica but after doing some research, we decided against it for this trip. We decided it wasn't worth it because we want to go out and see/do things rather than lay on the beach/by the pool with a drink in our hands. A lot of the tours include lunch/dinner and we'd be away from the resort so often. Our plan as of now is to see the Arenal Volcano and the rain forest, go ziplining, and maybe go rafting while we're in that area and then head to the beach where we'll relax a bit more but we'll probably do a snorkeling trip while there also.

  • @southernpeach89, too awesome! I have always had pretty good luck at finding puppies in shelters, so hopefully you guys will too. So exciting - I'll keep my fingers crossed for successful house-hunting and puppy-finding!
  • @Sakalicious - I can't believe it either! You already know that I love your new ink :)

I kind of think that a place like Costa Rica you HAVE to get out and explore, so I will be curious to hear about your trip, maybe Costa Rica will be the time we don't go all inclusive.

@Twodimes I love the story about your mom, was she intentionally teasing the stock boy or did she not even realize she was doing it??

  • I hate that it's Monday. Didn't want to get up at all.

Friday night I got to FI's and we went out to a nice dinner and just went driving afterward. He ended up bringing me to one of his childhood places on the shore nearby and we chilled out under the moonlight. It was super sweet.

Saturday I went riding. I finally found a good situation that I can ride for free. His name is Private (photo attached here). I love him so much. We then hung around and went to the diner and just relaxed.

Sunday we had to get up early since FI was shooting a video for church for Easter. After that we were so exhausted, but we trekked back to the shore and went walking and I got a lobster roll and it was a lot of fun. Ended up crashing by the end of the day though.
