Lake Tahoe Honeymoon - local suggestions?

we are california natives and have been to Tahoe a handful of times, usually for an off-roading event or to visit the casinos. however for our honeymoon, we could use some tips on romantic restaurants, scenic daytime stuff to do (biking/hiking), or other fun activities / places of interest. we have 3 days to spend .... we're not into gambling and we're staying in a cozy, rented cabin. any tips from locals or frequent travelers would be appreciated! :)

Re: Lake Tahoe Honeymoon - local suggestions?

  • I should ask which shore? We are having our wedding in South Shore Tahoe this summer and are planning on spending a week up there. On our list is to go on the boat cruise, go grass tubing at Heavenly, have dinner at the Chart House. We are planning on bringing our bikes with us. I know there are hiking trails at The Ridge (our wedding destination). There is also a zip line at Heavenly. Camp Richardson, Zephyr Cove, Sunnyside?
  • Here is all the information about the summer fun at Heavenly. http://www.skiheavenly.com/the-mountain/adventurepeaksummer.aspx
  • I just saw the concert line up posted by Harrah's/Harvey's. Train is the night before our wedding, but it would be fun to see Journey while we are there.
  • North Shore recommendations: Floating the Truckee river is a must do. Kayaking/SUP on the Lake (Sand Harbor is the most beautiful, but get there early to find parking). The mountain bike park at Northstar is a blast and ok for beginners. High Camp at Squaw Valley offers a pool and lagoon, rollerskating, hiking and incredible views. If you don't mind a short drive Sierra Hot Springs is a beautiful spot to take a soak (it's in Sierraville, about a half hour north of Truckee). In the summer there are great free activities like concerts and movies on the beaches--pick up a Tahoe Weekly (local free paper) when you get to town. For restaurants, The Soule Domain is by far the most romantic. Other nice spots are Gar Woods (beware the Wet Woody!), Bite, Christy Hill, and the West Shore Cafe. Happy travels!
