  What exactly is "cute" or "funny," let alone appropriate, about this?  Wedding ceremonies are not the time for trying to "joke" about "escaping" from marriage, when one is supposed to be in the mindset to be making a lifetime commitment.

  As a fellow bride, I find the idea of doing something like this to my FI horrifying, inappropriate and embarrassing.
  
  OP, you told us his decision to marry when others thought he wouldn't was a " big deal." Why? Big deal to whom? And why do you feel the need to emphasize that in front of an audience?
