Case of the Mondays?

Good morning, ladies! I hope everyone had a good weekend!

I don't really have a case of the Mondays as I have a short week this week so today is kind of like my Wednesday :)

I can't remember what I did on Friday which leads me to believe I did a whole lot of nothing.

Saturday, I had (very) drunk brunch with @buddysmom80 and @hummingbird125. We also played beer pong and, as usual, had a blast! Items lost: 2 jackets and 1 credit card. Sigh.

Yesterday, H and I got breakfast and then he took me to the jewelry store where he got my engagement ring and where we got our weddings bands so that I could get a new ring! I had been (not so) subtly hinting that I really wanted a ring similar to my wedding band to wear on the other side of my e-ring.

What's that, you say? Pics or it didn't happen? Well, ok then.

image

Then I went to get my hair done! I got highlights and about 5" chopped off. It's hard to see how light it is now in the pic but it's VERY blonde and I super duper love it!

Then I finished season 1 of House of Cards -- which I'm OBSESSED with!

Re: Case of the Mondays?

  • I really really love your new hair, @swazzle!  It's making me want to do something different with mine.  Let me know if you have any suggestions ;)
I also can't remember what I did Friday but it's because I was that drunk.  I fell asleep on the toilet.  I had a really terrible couple of weeks and I blew off steam in excess.  I decided that I needed a weekend free of work before I really start getting down to crunch time, so DH and I watched movies, went out for dinner, and just spent time together away from science.
  • I don't think I can top your weekend, @swazzle...your hair is gorgeous!  I love the cut and color...but especially the cut!  Great for summer.  Your ring looks fab as well!

My BF was supposed to be away all weekend at this car show but he came home a day early and ruined my days of freedom.  But, Friday I took off work and took my mom shopping and spent the day at my parents'.  Saturday went to the museum with my friend and her daughter...was short and sweet.  Then BF got back Saturday evening and we watched a playoff hockey game at home.  Sunday we didn't do too much, but did do a little shopping and I bought my "summer" purse...I usually buy a new purse every season.  Then we had hibachi thanks to groupon.  I'm a little bummed b/c I'm at work today and BF has off.  But he never has days off, like, ever, so he deserves it!

@Sakalicious...did you fall asleep sitting on the toilet, or leaning on the toilet from the floor post-puking episode?  Glad you had a relaxing weekend.

  • @Swazzle - Love the ring and the hair!

Friday - I had my surgery/procedure.  The prep time took longer than the surgery. Doing great after it, my thumb is stiff/weak after not bending it for 4 months, but I don't need to take pain killers or anything.  After that FI and I went to my parents house for a visit.

Saturday - FI had his 1 week out appointment for his eyes.  We went to the outlet mall after that.  I got a new purse and a new pair of shoes and a pair of slippers.  FI got some work shirts and a new pair of sunglasses.

    Sunday we relaxed at home.

Today I'm off, I didn't know how my hand was going to be (cat wouldn't let me sleep so I'm up earlier than I wanted to be).  I think I'm going to go to Kohls and Target.

  • @Pepperally I got up to pee in the middle of the night (still a little drunk) and fell asleep mid-pee.  Woof.
  • @Pepperally I got up to pee in the middle of the night (still a little drunk) and fell asleep mid-pee.  Woof.

Ok, that's so much better than the other scenario!!!  And quite hilarious!
  • @swazzle you're so pretty! I love your new ring too, I told FI that I want to start getting small bands for an anniversary gift every year. He was like "Oh. Great..." I had so much fun with you and @hummingbird125, lets do it again this summer.

@sakalicious you're the second person I know who has fallen asleep on the toilet. My dad's best friend did it at my parent's house after a Christmas party. The funny thing was when his wife came in to check on him, he was stroking his beard and going: "It's so thick and luxurious".

    @dignity100 I'm glad you're feeling better!

I can't remember what I did Friday night, must not have been exciting.

Saturday I went into the city for brunch and etc. with @swazzle and @hummingbird125. I left a little bit earlier to head back home to go to a UFC fight party. I don't know WTF happened but I could've sworn if I left at X time I'd be back to my train station by 8pm-ish. I didn't get to the train station by like 9:24pm. Anyway, I chugged a Red Bull and we headed to the party. I drank a lot more, thankfully I was drinking beer which doesn't give me as bad as a hangover as hard alcohol.

We got home late Saturday night and our neighbor/FI's GM was outside on his porch, so we stopped over to see what was going on. Come to find out, his mom passed away. He was trying to build a relationship with her again, and this happens. He thinks she either OD'ed or commited suicide. I feel so bad. It's hard to lose a parent, but he's only 23, his mom was only 43, she was so young.

Sunday we had breakfast, hung around at home to do laundry and went to Best Buy to buy a new case and charger for my iPhone. Then I made breakfast and lunch for myself for work. I need new lunch ideas, so that's what I'm going to do after I finish work.

DH came into the bathroom because I hadn't come back to bed and found me sleeping on the toilet.  First thing Saturday morning, @swazzle, @buddysmom81, @csousa1, and @goldenpenguin got a text
  • @Swazzle - So happy you got your ring, it looks awesome (as does your hair). I think that new ring + new hair make up for lost jacket and credit card. Also, I too was obsessed with House of Cards after season 1, and then there was season 2...which I never finished. I'm interested to see how you feel about the first few episodes of it.

I had a wonderful boozy brunch/day with @swazzle and @buddysmom80. We had many bellinis, ate some good food, played beer pong, and did shots. FI met up with us later in the evening, and after @Swazzle basically jumped out of the car in the middle of nowhere to go home, FI and I picked up burritos at a cool looking Mexican place and brought them home to eat.

Sunday I woke up with the worst hangover I've ever had. I spent most of the morning making a list of things that needed to be accomplished, then we took the pup on a nice long walk. After that, we drove about an hour upstate to a see a wedding venue. The venue was "meh" - I actually liked the ballroom best of the three venues we've seen so far, and the outdoor ceremony space was a really nice pavillion (except for ASTROTURF. Blegh.). Overalll though, it just seemed very dated. I was super depressed about it on the drive home because I felt like we are NEVER going to find a venue we can afford that I actually love. During the drive, my mom called and I told her how down I was about this whole venue thing, and she insisted I come to Long Island next weekend to see a venue her and my stepdad went to see. The pricing is a little bit high for us, but she said that they seemed very willing to negotiate. I think we're also going to start considering a Friday or Sunday wedding because I don't think it will affect out guests too much - most of the people invited will be very close friends and family, who will probably come no matter what.

After that, I went food shopping and FI cleaned soooo much and rearranged our furniture. It was a very drunk/productive/stressful/busy weekend.

  • @sakaclicious - I really love your hair how it is now! Can I have your curls?

@pepperally - Thanks! Pics of your new purse?!

@dignity100 - Thank you! I'm so glad your surgery went well! I was thinking about you on Friday! I'm jealous of your day off today. I have to go to Target tonight and I'm not looking forward to it.

@buddysmom80 - I cannot believe you went out and drank more. I think I would have died. I miss you already.

@hummingbird125 - SHOTS?! Shit. And I totally forgot you were looking at that venue yesterday! I know it's hard/easier said than done but try not to get too down about it. H and I looked at THIRTEEN venues before we found ours so I know that feeling very well. But you will find a beautiful, in-budget venue, I promise!

Love your new ring and your hair cut @swazzle!

FI and I spent Friday evening, all day Saturday, and Sunday morning at the hospital with his grandpa. He had a heart attack in the front part of his heart which is the "Widow Maker" heart attack.  He's lucky he survived it but they aren't sure about his recovery.  He was on life support when we got there and was sedated so that he didn't pull out any of the tubes they had in him.  On Sunday they took him out of his sedation so he was able to see everyone and understand what happened and why he was in the hospital.  17 family members (including FI and I) came up to see him, all from different states, so his grandmother's house was packed. We ended up getting a hotel (WITH A WHIRLPOOL!) both nights since the house was crowded.  I got to meet some of FI's family that I haven't met before, and he got to see his cousins that he hasn't seen in 8 years, so that was nice, just sucks that it had to be under such horrible circumstances.  So that was my weekend. I'm exhausted today from the 8 hr drive last night, but his grandpa is doing better as of now and I'm glad we were able to see him.

  • Awesome hair, @swazzle!

Friday night we went to gaming. I'd asked if the group could switch rooms for my comfort - spent all day Friday with shooting nerve pain and one of the lounges had some "couches", but they should have been better than the classroom chairs. They did. It didn't help.

Saturday I took a ton of naproxen and threw cortisone on my welts on my back and side. It helped a lot. But since I don't ever take painkillers I then spent most of the day just sitting on the couch in my medication fog.

Yesterday FI and I went over to my mom's friend's place to clean up her computer. She'd picked up some Trojans, but there was nothing too bad. The only real problem was running the scans to clean it up took over 5 hours. More naproxen during the day, more resting. Not nearly as productive a weekend as I wanted. The nerve pain is unreal.

So last night I decided that I was better because I hadn't been in pain and I didn't take naproxen. I might have gotten two hours of sleep. I have an unbelievable case of the Mondays and maybe shingles - what else explains that kind of shooting nerve pain? Ah well, nothing to do but pop naproxen, chase it with oversugared coffee, and wait to wake up.
  • @Swazzle - I still love the cut and color!  I like the new band you got this weekend, too.

this weekend was really nice.  we didn't end up having any horrible weather, just regular thunderstorms, so I was very happy about that.  Friday afternoon I managed to squeeze in everything I wanted (work-out, grocery shopping, stop by the alteration place to pick up some clothes, and teach a piano lesson) and H and I had dinner at our favorite Mexican place... followed by some dessert and coffee.  and I got him to watch Frozen with me, and he liked it!  howeverrrr, H decided he had to follow up Frozen with some WWE, so I fell asleep on the couch until he decided to go to bed.

Saturday was busy, but in a good way.  we got up early and headed out to the farmer's market.  I picked up a bunch of different seedlings (several kinds of tomatoes, several kinds of peppers, okra, strawberries) and we bought some fresh strawberries.  we tried breakfast at this gourmet waffle place, but it was just "eh".  and then we just spent some time running errands (gosh, we are so exciting).  I squeezed in a nap and then spent 3 or 4 hours deep cleaning the house...  so it is CLEAN now!!  that night we ordered pizza and I spent a couple hours tutoring H's cousin's GF in piano for her Piano I final coming up.

Sunday we went to church in the morning, grilled for lunch, and then ran over to Home Depot and Target for a few things...  I took another nap (I love naps!) and did my Insanity Recovery work-out.  I'm super excited because I did WAY better than H on all of the "deep muscle work" (thanks, Shaun T!) and I totally felt like a beast.  I put H to SHAME.

this morning I'm fighting a Benadryl hangover from taking one at bed time last night.
  • I feel like I haven't been on here in forever! Business trips, my mom in town, crazy hours at the office...Finally everything is starting to quiet down now though!

Friday I had a lazy day. I way overslept and decided what the heck - I usually only work 4 hours, so I took the day off and basically watched TV.

Saturday H and I got up early and took the dog on a hike. We came home and watched a movie we rented (About Time, really good actually). Then we went to a BBQ at another couple's house for burgers, margaritas and games. We actually got up to 34 complete rows on Jenga before it came tumbling down. Apparently 36 rows is a pro...so we felt pretty good about that!

Sunday H and I slept in. We did laundry and ran some errands. Came home and did a neighborhood walk with the pups and had a relaxing evening.

@Swazzle - Love the ring, the hair and am totally obsessed with House of Cards too. Actually watched season 2 for a second time while my mom was in town since she doesn't have netflix.

@Hummingbird125 - Sorry you're having trouble finding a venue you're in love with. That was a tough one for H and I too. We really didn't want to settle. Maybe look a little outside your immediate area? We ended up finding a place that was about a 6 hour drive from home. It wasn't that bad of a drive and we LOVED our venue! Good luck!

  • @severmilli12 - Thank you! I'm so glad your FI's grandpa is doing better. How scary!

@KeptInStitches - Thanks :) Are you going to see a doctor? My mom had shingles a couple years ago and it was really, really bad. I hope you get some relief soon!

@CocoBellaF - Thank you! I'm jealous of your farmer's market! I have to wait until next month for the ones by me to "open." I ordered T25 last week, have you tried that before?

@Allusive007 - Thank you! I'm so so anxious to start season 2! Kevin Spacey is phenomenal, god I love him!

  • @swazzle - I should but I probably won't. I mean, there's very little they can do that I can't do myself. If I'm smart about staying up on my medication I'm clearly comfortable, and if it is shingles I would have needed to be on antivirals before now for them to do any good. It is rough - thanks for the well-wishes!
  • @Swazzle, I love your hair! Pretty rings too!

@severmilli12, so sorry about your FI's grandpa, but very glad to hear he survived and seems to be doing better. I will be thinking of you guys and praying that his recovery continues to go well!

@Dignity100, glad the thumb is not bugging you anymore! Have fun shopping today!

My weekend was pretty good. Friday was my friend's wedding! She had a beautiful ceremony at an absolutely breathtaking cathedral, and the reception was at a nearby golf club. There were a few rookie mistakes made etiquette/commonsense-wise (that she could have avoided if she had lurked on TK! ;), BUT I had a blast, so I will not even complain anymore. Good food, lots of dancing, it was awesome.

The best thing (other than that my best friend is now an OMH!) was that C and I actually got along great. It was a little awkward at first, but we talked and caught up on life, and then we spent the rest of the evening dancing and hanging out with our group of college friends. He gave me a huge hug as we were all getting ready to leave and said he really hoped I was doing well. So needless to say, I'm glad we can be in the same room without killing each other, lol, and it was really great to know we could still be friendly. We are probably going to try hanging out after the bad part of my semester ends and see if there's still a friendship there.

Saturday I did absolutely nothing since I was exhausted from the wedding. I went to breakfast with the family, did some laundry, and worked a little bit on the two papers I have due this week. My mom was driving me bananas toward the end of the night, so I had to get out of the house. I was going to go for a run/walk but don't you know it started RAINING as soon as I got outside?! So I went to a nearby bookstore and just browsed for a while before I was ready to come back.

Yesterday I worked 7a-7p and it was the easiest work day ever - only three patients! I work tonight 7p-7a, so I hope it's a similar census so I can study.

  • @LivLeighton - sounds like a rough weekend.  :(

@Swazzle - I haven't tried T25, but from what I've seen and heard it is like a shorter, slightly easier version of Insanity.  H's coworker has it.  I might try and buy it eventually, because sometimes Insanity is a little too long (anywhere from 33-75 minutes, depending on the work-out) and I'd like a shorter option.

@Sakalicious - LOL at you falling asleep on the toilet!!  how long were you in there, do you know?
  • @Swazzle I love the new hair cut so much and I love that you got your extra ring!!! Yay Sounds like a great weekend.  I'm jealous of the boozy brunch!

Friday night I didn't do much.  I was a bit lazy watched some TV, and read. I had to get up real early Saturday to go see my niece at her dance competition.  She was so cute!!! I had a blast watching her.  FI had a hockey tournament too in the morning.  We napped and then ran some errands for food for the house.

Sunday we had early appointments with the florist for a mock up and the centerpieces looked beautiful!!! I'm so excited.  I wish I would have taken a picture.  Then we had our cake tasting, for something I was looking forward to I was a bit bummed.  I wasn't impressed with the choices or the tasting really.  We were able to come up with three different flavors for the three tiers that will work.  I wanted a round cake and FI wanted a square cake that was offset.  I really didn't like that look at all but since I was overall disappointed in the tasting I let him win with the design.

Then we ran some errands we went to home depot to look at granite countertops!!!! Yay and got some more soil and grass seed for the lawn.  Then we spent two hours outside weeding and cleaning up the backyard. It was tiring but rewarding.  Then we crashed on the couch the rest of the evening and went outside to bbq dinner.  It was such a tiring and exhausting weekend.  I really wish we had another day off to catch up on some sleep.

    Anniversary

  • @swazzle love your hair, I have been thinking about chopping off a few inches myself!

@severmilli12 I hope your FI's grandfather continues to improve, that's so scary!

My weekend was pretty tame. Friday night BF and I went to dinner with his parents and then hung out and started season 3 of 24. Saturday he went to hockey and I did my laundry and some cleaning, and met a friend for celebratory "you finally got a new job" lunch. BF and I watched the most recent Spiderman movie on Saturday night, ate a lot of candy, and went to bed early. Yesterday was church and napping and whatnot.

I slept terribly last night so I am having trouble getting motivated at work this morning. I have a feeling a couple of problem cases are going to be contacting me today and I'm hoping I can finish my tea before my phone starts ringing!

@Swazzle I'm just going to reiterate what everyone else said, love the hair and the ring!! (Also, your diamond is GORGEOUS and it reminds me how silly the conversation in the diamond under 5k thread was)

@Severmilli I'm so happy you and your FI got to see his grandpa, and that he was able to have his whole family there, it is unfortunate that those are the events that bring families together, but it's nice nonetheless to have time with them!

@sakalicious I'm laughing at your toilet slumber...I also have only fallen asleep next to the toilet..never on :)

My weekend was good, I did NOT get engaged on Friday like I had anticipated, but I started to assume it wasn't happening by mid-afternoon because my boyfriend was being so normal, Luckily I was able to just say "eh, it's not happening but you know it will be soon" and just move on and enjoy our night at the Twins game.  It was pretty chilly and they lost 10-6, but it was lots of fun!

Saturday I received a table for free from my FMIL's coworker and I started refinishing it.. it's old and wood and I want to sand it down, re-stain the top and paint the bottom white.  I think this was a super big project to take on as my first DIY, but I've already started, no turning back.
Yesterday was sooo lazy.. I did a lot of chemistry homework, grocery shopped, and read two books on my Kindle. (they were short).

  • New do AND new bling?? You win the weekend, @Swazzle! Both are fantastic.

My weekend isn't really worth a recap as it was a yawner. And speaking of yawns, I can't stop…cuz FI upped his snore something fierce last night, which meant I slept very little. Probably should've just come down to the couch to watch this House of Cards show y'all rave about.

  • My weekend was best described as...productive?  Lol, another sign I'm becoming an old lady :)

Friday, H was home from work so we went to the bank to establish our joint accounts (we currently have like 8 accounts between the two of us now with this joint and separate account thing going on).  Then we went to Men's Wearhouse to get H's free suit.  It should be in on Monday of next week, and it's nice for him to have more than one suit to choose from for weddings, interviews, and funerals.  Then we drove up to Orlando to visit my sister.  We made parmesan crusted tilapia, corn on the cob, and mushroom/pea risotto for dinner.  It was delicious.  Then we went over to Disney for mini golf and I did TERRIBLY.  I obviously need some practice.

Saturday, I slept in until like 10 AM because I'm ridiculous apparently.  Then we went to an art show downtown and there was tons of gorgeous art (most of it ridiculously priced, of course.)  I think we spent most of the time dreaming of a house where we could someday have room to put said art, lol.  I also really want to just paint random blobs on canvas and sell them for $25 each next year.  People were buying stuff like crazy!  After we got home, we laid out at the pool for a bit and then watched the Orioles game.

Yesterday, we went to Publix (btw, online ordering for the deli is amazing if any of you southerners have not tried it!) for a few things, made crock pot French dips, and swapped out a broken glass we got for our wedding (it was one glass in a set of like 16 or so).  Then we watched the game, cleaned the apartment, and watched silly TV (simpsons, family guy) until bed.

Considering all the awesome productive things we did (we also decided to get started on this house buying thing within the next few weeks.) it was a pretty great weekend of just chilling and being awesome.

  • I think @swazzle's hair AND ring are awful and ugly.

HA! Just kidding. I just had to throw in a changeup, so she didn't get too full of herself ;)

I was out sick on Friday. I brought my laptop home, so I still did some work, but I felt like crap. Saturday I HAD to work, because I had a lacrosse game, and I was SO exhausted by the time I got home.

Yesterday, BF & I slept in & snuggled, then we went to the diner down the street for breakfast. I had chocolate chip pancakes and bacon, and they were DELICIOUS. Because he was driving, he made the executive decision to stop at the Urgent Care between the diner & home, because my ears were still clogged & hurting. Turns out I have a double ear infection, because apparently I'm a child. So, I'm on antibiotics (which are HUGE), and everything still sounds like I'm under water.

But I'm feeling better!! I just still sound like crap, and if I think about laughing, I have a coughing fit. Sucks having icky lungs :(

@Sakalicious - I too have fallen asleep on the toilet. Of course I was ridiculously intoxicated. I said to BF "I'm going to pee" I sat down and all of a sudden he heard a *THUMP* which was my head hitting the wall. Needless to say, I've had prouder moments.

  • @LivLeighton, @CLoGreenEyes, @Peaseblossom55, @lmcooper86, @BreMR, @Niccirf, @TwoDimes, @GoldenPenguin, @Ollie08 - Thank you so much!! I'm really happy with it :)

@LivLeighton - I think it was really great that you were able to blow off some steam with friends on Friday AND get in some good sleeps! It sounds like you really needed both.

@CLoGreenEyes - I'm pretty much the same way with weddings even when I notice "etiquette fails." Unless I'm really offended or seriously inconvenienced, I don't usually mind too much. I just love weddings.

@CocoBellaF - I ordered it at the end of last week and it should be delivered while I'm away so I'm going to start it as soon as I get back. I'll let you know how I like it!

@Peaseblossom55 - I was really disappointed in our cake tasting also. I think I went into it expecting one thing and it was not what I expected at all.

@lmcooper86 - I LOVE 24!!!!!!! It's one of my favorite shows of all time :)

@BreMR - I really wanted to comment under the pic about my "questionable quality" diamond but I refrained ;) That sucks that you were expecting a proposal and it didn't happen but I'm glad you didn't let it ruin your weekend. It'll be even better when you don't expect it!

@Niccirf - Definitely check out House of Cards. It is SO good. It's a political drama and the acting is just so fantastic.

@TwoDimes - I hope things end up working out with the job situation for your BF, or maybe I should hope that they don't? Either way, I hope it works out and you guys can get on the same page about it!

@Blue&White - It sounds like your weekend was really nice! I was so excited when H was able to go get his free suit (even though it was months after the deadline, they still let him do it which was great). His old suit was really crappy and now he looks SO handsome when we have to get dressed up!

@Ollie08 - Hahaha I love you and your fantastic gifs!

@GoldenPenguin - DON'T HATE BECAUSE I'M BLONDER (for now)! I'm so glad you listened to Dr. Swazzle and got some drugs and are starting to feel better <3
