Babysitter for Reception

Re: Babysitter for Reception

  • Hi everyone!

I do not want children at the reception (there is a charge for kids) , but since there may be people who are coming from far who have to bring their children I want to hire a babysitter (a teacher friend of mine) to watch them at a room in the hotel where the reception will be. How much should I pay this person? I have also offered to pay for a room in the case that they do not want to travel late at night. There would be about 5 - 7 children (probably closer to 5). Help!

We opted against hiring a sitter for liability reasons. Looks like that has been discussed in detail already. If it's a qualified teacher or daycare that normally hires out services, you should be able to get a rate quote pretty easily though. Actually, a professional should be telling you what he/she is willing to work for, not the other way round.

I will say, as a teacher there are other teachers I would not allow to babysit my kids in a hotel room. And as a teacher, I will know my child's teachers before hand. I may be less bothered by leaving. My older child with a sitter. But I feel like copping younger children up in a hotel room is asking for trouble. Even if you offered a sitter, I would still decline the invite. That's the risk you take when you choose a no child wedding. I am really glad this hasn't been a trend in my family or friends circle.
