Re: October 2014 brides!

  • EEEKKK! I'm Oct 18th and I'm just freaking, lol - I have mostly everything done I'm just stressed. My biggest problem is hair and make-up I'm working on that now. How are you???
    Anniversary
  • Ok - not too stressed at the moment! Think I want to get our meet and greet the night before sorted soon, as I think that's the biggest thing outside of the day itself.
Who are you having for your hair and make up? I'm looking at harmony medina and might book her soon
  • I'm October 22. Planning is going pretty well right now. We did most of it in the past 2 weeks. Reception is booked (Stripburger), ceremony (MGM) is booked, DDB is booked, photographer is booked. Invitations are being printed right now and will be shipped next week. So, the big things are taken care of, which is a huge relief for me.

We have about 20 guests definitely coming, even before formal invites, with another 30 or so a mystery.

  • Oct. 25 for me! Ceremony at Caesar's, reception at Maggianos, Todd Wilson for pics, All Night Long for DJ and Glamsquad for hair and makeup! We did invites on Facebook and email and have about 25 confirmed so far, but expect 60-80 in the end.
  • Eeek 6 months today!!! And also just realised that its 6 months to the day that we were last in the Wynn, when we were walking the strip on our first vegas holiday! Clearly made an impression on us!
  • Ugh My hair & make up problems continue - I'm on the fence w/ Dollheads and Cayon Falls. Anyone heard anything about them? Also I won't know my count until like June so I don't wanna book the DDB cause it's for like 75 people - seems like a waste if I only have 35 ppl, no? Thoughts??
    Anniversary
  • I don't think the DDB is a waste with 35 people. With 35 everyone would be able to sit up top.

  • we will be getting married at MGM Terraza on Oct 16th and reception will be at maggianos and also have a skyline terrance suite booked for a after reception for everyone to come back to as well has have a get together after the rehearsal dinner.. only thing we have left is to figure out a limo company and times.. and getting family and some friends  to not wait until the last minute to book which is probably going to be the toughest at this point
  • Also - I just saw some bad reviews for the DDB - Thoughts? and @Jpietran 10/16 is a awesome day to be married! That's my B-DAY! lol
    Anniversary
  • Yeah, I saw the bad review too. But someone else that got married last week posted that it was fantastic (sorry, I can't remember who) and had no issues at all. Also, others I trust and know in person have had zero issues with the DDB. I'm not expecting a bad experience.

  • We're Oct 11th! We're doing ceremony at Little Church of the West chapel and reception dinner at Scarpetta in the Cosmo. I still have to book a club for after dinner and limo for travel to/from ceremony. Working on dress now too! Are you guys doing shirt or long dresses? I can't decide!
  • Long dress! May change into a shorter one later in the night if we hit up a club! Any suggestions for clubs?!
  • I'm doing short dress all day!
Samcintyre - what day of the week is your wedding as that will hell decide what club you go to. Ours is a Weds so we are looking at Surrender @ Wynn or Chateau @ Paris if we decide to go club route!
  • We had a table at Chateau and it was AH-MAZING!! $1200 minimum for 20 ppl and they had a 2 x ciroc deal for $450. We had THE BEST time!

Can't wait to say 'I do' on April 14, 2014 - Planning Bio

Wow! Everyone has booked so much already, should i be more stressed?? We are booked for Oct 17 at the Primrose courtyard at Wynn. Invitations are on the way and thats all! Still have so much to do....but getting so many ideas from everyone. Hope to be able to contribute soon!
  • 171014, what time do you have the ceremony scheduled for?  I'm October 17, too!  We tried to get Primrose around 5 and it was already booked (is that you?) so I went with the outdoor terrace at Venetian instead.  Wynn is gorgeous!  Where are you doing your reception?

  • Our date is 15th October.. at the Flamingo... dinner at Wicked Spoon, after party in the Panorama Suite at PH... Todd for photos, Make Up in the 702 for HMU.
  • oh, and DDB welcome tour on the 12th... we are all coming from Australia.... so all this was planned based on what people have said on here!

  • We've just booked our morning after brunch at the MGM Buffet. We were planning the Bellagio as the breakfast there is so lovely, but as most of our guests are staying at MGM and they offer a longer window for brunch, we thought we would give everyone a bit more time to sleep off the night before!

Also, just finalising all our flowers and add ons for the Wynn courtyard - a significant part of our budget, oops! Oh well, at least it will look pretty!!

Hi! Sorry Dbacksgirl! We booked the courtyard at 4:30, we originally had the terrace at the bellagio, but we had more people interested in coming than we originally thought so we quickly cancelled before yhe deposit and were really happy to find the Primrose, also better that there are chairs where Bellagio is standing only, my 83 year old grandmother is THE MOST excited one to be going to Vegas again. The Venetian is gorgeous too! Its exciting to have a date buddy. I am still deciding on the reception - thinking one of the restaurants at the wynn, but really depends on the final number. I want to plan so many activities but the other half just isnt getting that we are going to have to put some more cash in the budget!!! How many are you? Where are you staying?
  • HA! No worries, 171014!  Long story short, we changed our original location as well.  We were originally booked Nov. 7 at Mandalay Bay but after our scouting trip we nixed that idea completely.  Plus, nobody bothered to mention to us that the weekend of 11/7 is the end of THE biggest convention week of the year in Vegas.  Close to 150,000 people from the auto industry in town and some of the restaurants wanted a minimum of $25k for a reception!  Ummm, no thank you.  Lost our deposit, which sucked, but I'm so happy with how everything is shaking out at this point that it's not that big of a deal in the scheme of things.  We live in Phoenix so it's an easy trip to Vegas.  I was really disappointed thought because I thought I had things nailed down and then had to start all over again.  I went back up a week later, but this time I had to go by myself so that added stress as well.  It was a whirlwind trip with appointments straight from the airport.  I was pretty sure I wanted Venetian but we're doing our reception at Maggiano's so on my way over there, I stopped at Wynn just as a spur of the moment thing.  I didn't think I'd have time but ended up I had about a half hour between appointments so I checked it out.  I fell in love with Primrose Court but when I heard we could only have 6 or 7:30pm, the decision was made because we have many guests coming from the east coast and are trying to accommodate (even a little) the time difference.  As it ends up, I really love the Venetian and although I have a few worries about the number of guests, it will all work out and I'm really happy with the fact that we'll still be outside at 4pm in a lovely location.  That is so cool that your grandmother is excited about Vegas!  And LOL @ your other half's budget concerns.  We're buddies in that regard, too, although mine is slowly coming around.  I'm reminding him that people are spending a lot of money to come celebrate with us and it probably wouldn't be a good idea to just throw some In 'N Out Burger in their faces and be like, "Thanks for coming!"  :)  We will be staying at Venetian.  Just makes it easier for logistic purposes and the suites are so big that it will be perfect for me and my girls getting hair and makeup done, etc.  OK, so that actually didn't end up being a short story but I'm excited to have a date buddy, too!

  • Oh, and regarding the number of guests for us, that remains to be seen.  I'm estimating around 48 on the low end, close to 70 on the higher end.  Of course, everyone SAYS they'll come when you tell them the wedding is in Vegas but we'll see how many actually book trips.  On the other hand, some of the people that we were sure would be no-shows have already told me they've purchased flights.  That's another reason I'm happy with our changes: at Mandalay Bay, our reception was limited to 40 people and that would have totally stressed me out trying to sweat that out at the last minute regarding whether or not I'd get too many YES RSVP's.  Now, we may have to pay more if more people show up but I don't have to worry about space issues.  If we have over 60, we may have to move inside at Venetian for the ceremony and pay an upgrade fee but the indoor chapel there is lovely, too, and I'd rather have more people there that I REALLY want there than to have to whittle the guest list down to try and make sure we don't exceed some limitation restrictions.

Lol, dbacksgirl, i feel like i have a partner in crime now. I wish i had the chance to scout, but thats not in the budget so thank goodness for everyones input on this forum. Sorry to hear that you had to start over but good thing you wont be stuck in the middle of that convention. I am feeling the guilt of everyone flying down from Toronto for our wedding and feel the need to thank them. At least with covering a welcome night/ bachelor bachelorette activity and of course a reception after the ceremony. I was thinking to give casino chips or preloaded slots card instead of favours to the guests, 5 or 10 dollars depending on how many guests. Anyone have other ideas on favours that might be better? And which club to reserve a table at for after dinner on friday?

Just realized I left a lot out...any who I'm getting married October 4th. Ceremony is at Treasure Island, Reception at Maggiano's. Florist is The Palette, DJ is DJ Godzilla, KK Photography, Freed's Bakery, Hair By Porchea Device and Makeup by Cynthia Angelina. Invites are being printed and will go out in June. Inviting 78..big family...feeling overwhelmed..
  • DMA, it's a lot, isn't it?  I thought a wedding in Vegas would be a cinch to plan.  Holy crap, was I ever wrong!  Actually, it's probably still easier than a lot of places but I was bowled over by how much actually has to be done -- from the big stuff such as venue and reception to the little details.  If you'd told me 3 months ago that I'd be stressing over TABLE LINENS I would have told you you're nuts.  I never thought I'd say this, but I'm kind of having fun with the planning, even though it is DEFINITELY overwhelming at times.  How fun though that you will have such a big group coming to celebrate with you.  Congratulations!

Oh, P.S. - If you don't mind sharing, could I ask how much DJ Godzilla charges to DJ?  I've heard so many good things about him and I do have another DJ booked but I've only put a small deposit down and now that I want to add another hour I feel like they are kind of pushing me against a wall.

  • 171014, the pressure feels like it's on to entertain and "host" people, doesn't it?  But you know, at least for us, part of the reason we did end up choosing Vegas was exactly so we WOULDN'T have to be responsible for everyone's entertainment every minute.  At least with Vegas, they're getting a vacation out of it and there are so many things to do that I won't feel too bad not going all out.  You're doing more than we are.  We are going to try to host a small get-together of some sort for those in town the night before the wedding and we MIGHT do something Saturday like a party bus or something but with bachelor/bachelorette parties and a reception, your guests should be very happy!

As for the scouting, so you haven't actually been to the Primrose Court to see it in person yet?  If not, you will NOT be disappointed.  It's a stunning location and you will be very happy with it, I promise!

  • I'm October 12 and feel completely behind. I want to do an intimate in suite ceremony and gathering but I keep being afraid my guest list is going to be too large for that. I finally picked out invites tonight and need to get them sent out so at least I can start planning for a specific number.
