    I haven't gotten anything waxed other than my eyebrows & lady garden, but I can't imagine legs & armpits being worse than the latter. 

    My very first time wasn't as bad as I'd thought it'd be. I've had good ones and one or two not so good one. Make sure you use someone with good reviews!

    Maybe that'd get the damn cat hair off the lamp shade.

    I just epilate everything. That hasn't worked on the lamp shade. However, having ripped hair out enough, if one or two hair decide to chug them some Miracle Grow for Hair - I just yank em out with my fingernails.

    Those clothes-roller lint remover things work remarkably well on lampshades in my experience. Not so well for "lady gardens" unfortunately ;)
