Re: I am really scared you guys.....[UPDATE]

  • Stay safe. Happy thoughts are headed your way. I'm in Colorado and have seen far too much in the wildfire department. I understand the lack of sleep and huge stress. Last years fire in Black Forrest came way too close for comfort to my parents house (where I was living at the time.) just breath. Remember that material possessions are just that, but I know that's so hard to actually remember. Sounds like you do have the important stuff.

Sounds like you're in the "pre evacuation" area? Close enough that a change in wind would be a horrible thing but not so bad that you can't be home now, right? I think that's almost a scarier place because there are way too many "what ifs."

We used evacuation as a mini vacation, and it really did help take the stress off (for a few mins at a time.)

Also thinking happy thoughts for the firefighters to be able to get everything contained and put out as quickly as possible.
  • @Emmyghoul thank you. And yes, we are in the pre-evacuation area, and the winds did shift to move the fire towards us last night, but it died down quickly before we needed to be evacuated. The weather is slightly better today, and the fire closest to us looks to be pretty well controlled at the moment. However, there is a bad one to the North of us that flared up today, but that would have to cross 2 highways and travel about 30 miles before putting us in danger. There is still a chance, but things look much better today so far, so I am not as worried. The past two nights have been stressful and I haven't slept well worrying that we would be evacuated. Hoping to catch up on sleep this weekend if everything goes well with getting these fires under control.

  • Thanks @BreMR! Today looks much better, as they are letting some people who were in the evacuation zone back to their homes, and the fire is 70% contained. There are 3 of them to the north of us, but as far as I know they aren't an immediate threat to us right now. I think BF and I can finally relax and enjoy our weekend :).

Thank you all so much for your kind words. I really mean it, and am so glad to be a part of this community.

  • Glad things are looking up - hope they get everything under control soon!!
